  1. Thank you. Its been tough, I have had three fills to date, but am still having a hard time with being hungry most of the time. I'm eating the proteins first but for some reason I am hungry within a couple of hours, I've been told I just need another fill, I go for that in a couple of weeks. That is the same location I went to, close to my house. As I said you will like it there, the facilities are fairly new and the staff are extremely nice and helpful. Good luck, keep us informed
  2. Congrats on your dates, I know you will love Dr. K., do you know which hospital you will be at yet? I was at Parker Adventist, it is fantastic, the nurses were the best.
  3. We have converted my daughters (3 of them) spouses into Husker fans too. Some converts are harder than others, especially after the last several years we've had, but every dog has its day, and it just wasn't ours. Sooners have always been out biggest rival and now they are doing great. So good luck and keep it up, go big red, no matter what shade.
  4. April is kind of a fickle month, you never know what your gonna get, it could be beautiful or end up in a huge blizzard. I think that you would make a great PA or NP. Good luck!
  5. I was raised in Nebraska (Norfolk) my siblings still all live there. In fact I just came back from visiting my sister in Lincoln, it was humid, kinda reminds me why I don't still live there. I've been here in Colorado for 27 years.
  6. PrtyAntOvrYt I enjoy reading all of your posts. Some are helpful and some are down right funny. I noticed you are a Husker fan. Are you from Neb?
  7. LoriLei I have a friend who is going to have surgery in Dakota Dunes, is it anywhere near you?
  8. I'm sure all is fine by now. Last night I did pretty much the same thing. Not too sure if it was eating too fast or it might have been the first tomato I had tried to eat. I felt terrible, it took probably an hour before I started to feel better. Guess we are all in the learning process.
  9. I had my first less than a week after surgery. I seem to be a little of the abnormal. I noticed it was lighter, and lasted only about half length it usually did. We will wait and see what happens this month
  10. Congrats!!! Good luck! Keep us informed.
  11. The hospital I went to would not dismiss you without someone else driving me home. It was a good thing too, cuz I was still pretty drowsy, and slept on the way back home.
  12. My Doc's name is Kirshenbaum. He is here in Aurora, Colorado.
  13. lo:smile:l Thanks! Geez with my memory I would have thought it was Hubert or something like that.
  14. When I had my second fill, Dr. K's medical assist/physician assist did the procedure for me. For the life of me I can't remember his name. Do any of you know what his name is? Thanks!!!
  15. Hi! I would like to introduce myself. I am 49 yrs old, live in Aurora, and was also banded by Dr. K. I was refered to him by my daughters neighbor who is also a patient. I was banded on July 3, 2008, and would do it again. I've been reading your posts, and want to wish you all good luck.
  16. I was banded on 7/3 also at Crown Point, the nurses there were great, it is a new facility, and not very far from my house. Dr. Kirshenbaum is fantastic, two days after my surgery (Saturday am) I had a question, called his cell phone and he returned the call almost before I got sat back down. I had a list of questions that I had taken with me to my first appt., he was very informative, patient, and didn't rush thru everything. His staff is also very friendly. Is your consultation and surgery on 10/22? Good luck with your trip and surgery. Let us know how things go.
  17. I have been able to eat just about anything I could before. I have learned (the hard way) that you have to take small bites, and chew until you can't chew any longer. When I've gone to restaurants I have the server if I can please order from the childrens menu, so far none have said no. My doc also gave me a card that states "My patient has had bariatric surgery, please extend them the courtesy to order from the childen or senior menu" haven't had to pull it out yet.
  18. Sorry to hear that some people are so negative. I only told a few people, actually only my children (all adults). Since my surgery I have told more people, was forced to while out for supper one evening on vacation visiting family, but they were all good with it too. It has been going on 3 months and I still haven't told anyone at work, they know that I had surgery but not what for. Not that I care if they know it just isn't really any of their business.
  19. Congrats! I am also a patient of Dr. K he is great. Do you know which hospital you will be going to? Are you local? Good luck.
  20. No I don't think we are doing anything wrong, it just takes a while. How much was your first fill? Good luck with your next fill.
  21. I had a week of preop diet. It was anything but complex carbs. My Dr. explained that he has had patients that didn't do the preop diet, and when he went to do the surgery he had to stop and reschedule due to fatty liver.
  22. I forgot, he takes patients from all over the states
  23. My Dr. is in Aurora, Colorado. He charges roughly $9900 for the complete surgery. This includes your first consultation, preop, nutrition consultation, surgery, hospital, postop, and the first 3 months (from your surgery date) of fills are also included. After the third month he only charges $15 per fill. If you want more information, let me know.
  24. I also had this problem. When I asked my Dr. he said it was probably because he had given me a strong antibiotic for infection and sometimes it knocks out the good with the bad, I had to take it for a week, then it went away.
  25. I know how you feel, I had my band on 7/3, and it feels as if it is taking forever to get anywhere. I have had three fills, I feel some restriction, but I could still eat larger portions than what I have been told to have. I am sure we will get to where we want to be we just need to hang in there.
