Dr. Contreras Guarista in Tijuana
Thanks for the heads up. I am sure your post will help a lot of people that are doing their research. I do have a question, how was the flight back after the surgery, I wasn't in a lot of pain but can't imagine getting on a flight for several hours. Good luck.

Can't drink the whole thing!!!!
As Jodi said you must not have had much swelling, also most bands do not have any Fluid until your first fill.

Can't drink the whole thing!!!!
I found that it was easier to leave it in the fridge and take a sip here and there through out the day when I was postop. It took several weeks before I could drink a whole one before it got cold.

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
magains and mini (or was it someone else? cripe, there's so many people now, but you know who you are) - has Dr. K pulled the fluid out to see if you really have the amount he put in? If you can still eat quite comfortably then it makes me wonder (there was talk a long time ago that the band "absorbs" a little fluid - not a leak, just something to check out if you're going in for a fill) No he hasn't, I will ask him tomorrow when I go to check what is still there. Thanks to everyone for the responses.:cursing:

I have a question for you girls, you all have so much great information and advice. I have had a few fills and scheduled for another in a couple days. I can eat anything and any amount I want without much consequence (sp), I ate supper about an hour ago, and had to stop myself, believe me I could have kept going, and I am still hungry. The last fill I had my stomach growled thru the whole procedure, Dr K said he could hear the fill talking to him, so stopped with a small fill. Let me know what you think.

Yes, I love this show. It doesn't matter what anyone else is watching as soon as it comes on the TV is mine. The people on there work their butts off, maybe if I had their ambition I wouldn't be in the position I'm in now.

I'm sure they won't be backed up. I've never been there where the wait was long. Maybe next time.

Oh, yes and my fill on Thursday. I haven't lost pounds in months, inches, yes, but you know how we all like to see those numbers on the scale to move!!! How many inches can one lose without the scale moving??? I read all the posts but you girls are just too fast for me. There is no way I can keep up. I too go for a fill on this Thursday (10/2) maybe we will bump into each other. Mim

Weight Watchers Scale WW67T
I finally received the scale I had ordered a few weeks ago. Of course when I opened the package there wasn't an owners manual or instructions.:cool2: Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the manual. Or if you know how to program it would even work. I have tried Conair's website, their toll free phone number, weight watchers site, even did a search on the internet but no luck. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Oh I feel so bad for you and your sister. It has got to be hard enough to leave her kids, but to have to deal with your mom isn't good for her. She has to be able to know that her family is doing ok so she can take care of herself while deployed. Maybe your mom will change her mind and stay home so you two can have a good time together before she leaves.

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
I went to a support group shortly after my surgery. There were several people there, not long into it I found out that most (all but 2 of us) were patients of Dr. Snyder's. Talk about being outcasts for the rest of the session haven't been back there, looking forward to the one at Dr K's office in October.

WOW:w00t: I read the posts from ColoradoCrazy, she is something else. You girls really gave it to her:tongue2:. Little does (did) she know that Dr. K informs his patients that he will call you with his cell phone and "if you capture it" you will then have his. I called him two days after my surgery and he called me back before I got my sorry butt sat down.

Question for Self-payers of Lap Band
Actually you have a choice of two locations. One is Parker Adventist (fairly new facility) and Aurora Medical Center, this hospital is attached to the same building that his offices are in.

Question for Self-payers of Lap Band
I bet your surgeon was Dr. Kirshenbaum, he is also my Dr. I really like his office staff. I go on Oct 2 for another fill. Good Luck!!!

Question for Self-payers of Lap Band
I was very fortunate to have found an excellent dr within miles from my home that I used for self pay. His fees for surgery, consult, nutrition consult, hospital, and first 3 months of fills (from date of surgery) for $9950.

Help is anyone out there?
Does your insurance cover lapbanding? If not you may want to consider self pay. I agree with RestlessMonkey. Start with your insurance company, find out what they do or do not cover and start with the list. Good luck

Approved!! I have my lapband date!!
Good luck and congrats to all of you. Before you know it you will be approved and on your way.

Hello Everyone!
Maybe she shouldn't have had all her fill removed. Part of it may have been fine. The band does not do all of the work for you, have to make the right choices in your new diet, exercise, etc.
