  1. Hi There!! I am a patient of Dr. Baptista's also. I had my surgery back on November 13th. Hadn't really lost any weight but now, I think, I am. Got my band tightened again last Thursday (April 15) for the fourth or fifth time and I can finally feel the restriction. It took five months... but the weight is FINALLY going down!! I am so happy!! Maybe this is the "sweet spot" everyone has talked about or close to it. It's really nice knowing you can eat only a little bit and you don't actually want anymore food. Gone are the food cravings I have fought with my whole life!! I am loving this phase of the lapband experience. Up until now it has not been rewarding. Five months must be the turn around for me. I am praying it is.
  2. Hello Melissa! Thanks for replying to me. I haven't gotten nervous yet but I'm sure it will happen further down the road. No, I haven't gotten a surgery date yet. I need to finish up with the lab tests and then I call for my doctor's appointment. The only day I have off during the week is Friday and I've been trying to do all of my "lap-band appointments" on these days. I may need my vacation time for surgery recovery, at least a week anyway it sounds like. I'm thinking this "weigh in" visit could be the pre-op visit? We will find out... I can't wait to get this thing going and begin the weight loss, though I know that still is a ways down the old road, still looking forward to it though. I can't weight to lose enough weight to fit into an airline seat and fly out to California. I'm a California Girl transplanted into FL. All my family and best friend are in CA. Such good things to look forward to!! I will keep you posted on all things that happen. Thanks for caring and helping me. Susie :-)
  3. Shinyhappymommy, I would love to have you mentor me!! My insurance just approved my surgery. I still need to do my lab work and chest x-ray and then I was told I need to see the Dr. Morganthel for my final weigh in. Would you happen to know approximately how long after the final weigh in you have the surgery? I am so excited about how all this has come together for me!! Thanks for you mentoring skills. Susie
  4. I am ready for my Lap-Band adventure... the good and the bad!! I don't care what I have to go through... I just would like to be thin and look normal again. My doctor's office called me today and told me I was approved and all I have left to do is my lab work and chest x-ray. Then I go to see my doctor for my final weign in. I was wondering how long it will be before I have the surgery? I would appreciate having someone with experience to me help along the way? Thank You!! :wink2:
  5. I will hang in there and see what happens. My BMI is 56. I thought they wouldn't deny the surgery. I have done most everything my dr has asked me to do except for the 3 month supervised diet and everything that goes along with that. Thanks again, Susie:smile2:
  6. Hello from Jacksonville, FL! The last few months I have been going through the process for lap-band surgery. Yesterday, I received a "denial of coverage" letter from Aetna. I called my doctor's office here in Jacksonville, FL and was told my doctor would do a "peer to peer review." Does anyone know what this means? I am new to this whole process. Has anyone gone through this? Thanks for your response.:cool2:
