    Failure......but today......

Water weight is still weight that has to come off before the rest does, so GREAT JOB!!! I am down 3 myself. I turned all my paperwork in to my new doc and hopefully will get an adjustment for the first time in 3 years in the next couple of weeks I'm hoping that helps too. HAPPY FRIDAY everyone!!!
  2. I am looking for some suggestions from those who had slips and gained weight back. I was banded in 2008 and lost 60 pounds fairly quickly. I have gained 50 of that back. Today I decided to go on liquids for 2 days (if i can make myself do it), and then mushies the next day after that to try to get myself restarted. I'm also going to make a solid effort to put that drink away while eating. That is my biggest downfall. I am hoping to generate some feedback and suggestions for those of you that have had the slip-ups like I had. How did you get back in the game?
  3. I will take a look at the LB diet. It has been a long time since i've glanced at it. Thanks for the tips and I am definitely not giving up. I didn't go through all this to just give it up. I am going to fight for what I want and take control of my choices again.

    Failure......but today......

Hi everyone. I am in the same boat as you all. I was banded in November 2008. I lost 60 pounds fairly quickly and was feeling awesome. Got married, got comfortable and gained back 50 of it. Today that number is creeping up closer to that starting point and I refuse to let myself get back there. So today I start over. I am going to try to do liquids today to see if I can get myself bacck in the mode again and then try to do mushies for a day or so. Any suggestions on starting over? My biggest issue is drinking to wash it down so I can eat more. That is going to be my number 1 goal to stop as of this very second. WE CAN DO THIS!!!!!!

    4 years post-op

I am right there with you. I had the lap band back in 2009 and lost 60 pounds within 3 months. I have gained 50 of it back. Unfortunately I also found the loop holes like drinking while I eat to wash it down so I can eat more. Now i'm struggling with breaking that habbit again. So today I am re-starting my journey. I am on liquids today and tomorrow to see if I can get my stomach to not hold quite so much. After that, I will go to mushies for a day or two and slowly add back higher Protein foods and set my drink FAR FAR away from me during meal time. If anyone has any other suggestions, I would love to hear them. I may start a topic to see if we can generate some responses on how people got "back in the game".
  6. Hey everyone. I am so sad LOL not really but i hit 29.5 today on pounds lost and i was really wanting to see 30 down But that's ok, i'll definitely get it next week. Hope everyone is doing great.
  7. Hey everyone. I had my 3rd fill last week. I'm at 6.5cc's now. I can really tell a difference and now the scales are starting to move. I'm so excited. I gotta get back into the gym though. We had an ice storm here so i'm stuck in the house for a couple days but as soon as the roads are clear i'm haulin my butt to the gym  I hope everyone is doing great.
  8. LOL they really are torture aren't they. I did them for awhile about a year ago. The first time my butt was so sore i could hardly sit. I even waited several days to go back and that was painfull, I should have waited a week LOL. you really do get used to it though. The gym i'm at now doesn't have them anymore. I don't know if that's a good thing or bad LOL. Hang in there, it gets better Buy one of those nice gel seats, it helps a lot.
  9. Wow that is amazing. You're doing great on the exercise. I definitely need to step mine up a bit. Yesterday I swam for 30 minutes. It was a pretty good work-out but I need to go more often. I talked myself out of going today so i'll be there tomorrow rain or shine. I haven't been in about a week I slacked off a bit but now that i'm feeling more comfident I think I can make myself go more often. I can't wait until the weather is better so I can go outside more often. It's so cold right now. I will be swimming a ton in the summer too
  10. Hey everyone. I am so excited. I hit 25 pounds lost. I feel so satisfied with a small amount of food. Things are really starting to look up. My mom gets her first fill today. She's excited. I hope things go great for her too. :wink2:
  11. Jaime isn't it amazing how different the docs are? Mine tells me even one small sip can turn the food into mush and it goes through easier. She's informed me not even a swallow of liquid for 30-45 minutes after eating. That is the hardest thing for me but i bought myself one of those 2 dollar timers with the loud loud chime on it LOL. I set it for 30 minutes after I eat and won't drink until it goes off. It's really helped a lot. She also contradicted my surgeon and told me that drinking before the meal shouldn't be an issue. My surgeon told me nothing to drink 15-30 minutes before and 30-60 minutes after. It's amazing how many opinions there are out there. I'm basically using using the doc that does the fill and drinking before but not after. So far so good.
  12. Hi lfein229  I am right there with you on the exercise routine. I did really good for awhile but the last week i've slacked off a lot. I'm planning on really picking up the pace next week. I'm finally starting to see the pounds come off again. That 2nd fill did it for me. I get stuck sometimes but as long as i chew chew chew, it does ok. Mornings are insanely restricted for me. Even water i can fill go through the band, but as long as i drink a few good gulps about 15 minutes later i can get some breakfast in. This morning i was only able to eat 1 egg and half a piece of bacon It was so great. I used to eat 3 eggs and tons of bacon for breakfast. I'm so happy that it's finally starting to really work out. I do get hungry every few hours, but as long as i eat a good amount of protein for the meal, it lasts usually until the next meal. I am again loving the band. :cool2:
  13. I can't believe how much difference this 2nd fill has made. I had half a piece of pizza for breakfast (i know, not the healthiest choice), and 5 chicken nuggets for lunch and i am still satisfied. it took me over half an hour to eat 5 nuggets LOL that is so incredibly awesome. That was at 11:30 and it's 1:40 already and still satisfied. I figure i'll need a snack around three (it's a habbit more than anything) but i have cubed cheese i can have a couple pieces of it and i'll be fine. > This is exactly how i was hoping it would work. They're right about sometimes a fill not really helping until you get it closer to that sweet spot. I'm sure i'll need another one in a few weeks, but if this one helps me for the full 2 or 3 weeks, that would be absolutely perfect.
  14. Hey everyone. I got my 2nd fill today. I can really tell a difference now. I hope this one works really well. I think it will. I wasn't getting notifications that the boards were moving so I've gotta get caught up.
  15. I go for my 2nd fill thursday. I can't wait. I hope it helps. I'm really surprised about the .5 limit. Mine said she was being a little less agressive but still but 2cc's in. Hopefully this next one she'll put 2 more and i'll be at 4cc's. I hope that does the trick. My weight loss has completely stopped, but i'm not eating very good at all and way too much. Haven't been very good at the gym either. I went monday but just played pool and foosball LOL hopefully today i'll go and get in a good workout.
  16. I am hoping to schedule my 2nd fill this week. I'm not dropping any at all and I know it's cuz i'm eating badly. I am not eating as much as I used to, but still way too much. Hopefully this next fill will give me some restriction and i can really begin to focus on eating better. I'm getting impatient. I know that is silly but i just want it to start melting away. hopefully soon.
  17. I have 2 so i'm hoping the 2nd one will put 2 more in so i can stay full. Right now i'm hungry all the time. But i'm sure it'll get there
  18. I think i'm going to schedule a 2nd fill for next week. I know it's only been one week, but it's finally starting to loosen up in the mornings now so i shoudl be able to go another notch or so. Definitely eating way too much.
  19. I am actually becoming obsessed with the scales. I weigh like 4 or 5 times a day. It's rediculous. I'm going to way tomorrow morning for my weekly weigh in and then hide the stinkin things. I hope i'm down. I am so glad the most of the holidays are finally over. Too many candies around to ignore. I can definitely tell i'm doing better though. And tomorrow back into the gym routine. Here's to the new year
  20. I am right there with you on the protein shakes. I just can't stomach them anymore. I'm really restricted in the mornings so i've been having a low-carb slim fast. it has 20 grams of protein. This morning I had one egg and a serving of bacon. For lunch the frozen chicken fried steak. I used to eat 3 over easy eggs and a ton of bacon. I was completely satisfied with one egg :hurray: It was great. And rather than eating 2 chicken fried steaks plus sides, all I had was the one. I was completely full. Try the protein water from special K. it is really good too. I try to have at least one of those a day to get in that extra protein. I learned the hard way that I can't do rice even before my first fill. now i won't touch it or bread unless the bread is very toasted and not soft at all. Then it's ok. But i just generally try to stay away from it.
  21. Hey everyone. Glad to hear everyone is surviving the holidays  I didn't do too horible, definitely better than last year. Chex mix is my biggest downfall too. I could nibble on that stuff until it's all gone. On my christmas day dinner i got up and moved it to another table so it wasn't in front of me when i realized how much i was eating. I did ok though, only a bite of pie. One more dinner to go and i'll be done with the christmas part. I'm going to really focus on not taking any candy home and just bringing protein and healthier stuff home for leftovers. I had my first fill on the 23rd, and it really helped for christmas eve and christmas day. Even water is restircted in the morning, but by the evening, i can eat just about anything. I'm trying to focus on being careful and not drinking after I eat (that's my biggest problem is flushing it down with water cuz i'm always drinking something). So that's my new focus and i really can tell a difference. I stay fuller so much longer. So good luck for the new year everyone. I'll be on a liquid diet for new years even party hahaha LOL.
  22. Hey everyone. Just had my first fill today 10 this morning. It wasn't nearly as bad as i had feared. She only put in 2cc's because it was early in the morning and she said i was really tight already. With the holidays, she was worried so didn't want to be as aggressive. I'm ok with that for now but after the holidays in 3 or 4 weeks or so, I will probably go back in for some more. I definitely can feel the difference. No problem getting water or slim fast down, but it definitely took me longer to get my slim fast down than it used to. I think tonight i'm going to have some pudding and maybe try some mashed potatoes. I'm so excited, I really hope to see some pounds start coming off now.
  23. Hey hockeyson, that happens to me too. My surgery was on 11/12 no fill until tomorrow and if i eat somethign and don't chew it up just right it feels like it's right in my chest, and drinking water only makes it feel like it's coming up higher. eventually it goes down, but i have to be pretty carefull what i eat especially in the mornings. I'm learning what does it and what doesn't, but it's a very uncomfortable process. I'm nervous about the fill because of that, but i hopefully will learn to eat slower and smaller bites and better things and maybe it'll stop. Good luck
  24. That scares me about the fill, but i'm glad to know you're taking 30 minutes to eat 1/4th cup. That is great news heather  Right now i can eat quite a bit and am not losing at all. I've lost 20 so far, but in the last 2 or 3 weeks I haven't lost anything, so i'm ready to get this show back on the road. :w00t: I almost rescheduled my fill for after christmas, but decided I was able to eat thanksgiving so that is plenty :cursing: I'll definitely take it easy for a few days until I know what I can handle. :bored:
  25. I have my first fill scheduled for December 23rd. I'm so nervous. Did everyone do liquids after their fill for a couple days? And then like start out slowly? Right now i'm eating just about anything. I stay away from bread and rice, but everything else seems fine besides french fries LOL which i should have anyway. I'm going to have to re-learn to cook and how to eat so i can make this really work.
