I'm so happy I found this post. I just had my pre-op appointment and my surgeon informed me he uses Gabapentin before surgery for pain control along with a pain blocker they use before recovery after surgery. I've honestly been wondering if I should cancel the surgery because I have a low tolerance to any pain on top of my 10-year RA diagnosis. Please, can anyone tell me how this new strategy worked for you?
Thanks for your reply! Protein drinks for breakfast & lunch and a small amount of lean meat, and veggies for dinner. I have been dieting since my 2nd weigh-in with my surgeon's office. It seems if you gain weight the surgery would be canceled by my insurance carrier. I'm making sure that doesn't happen.
Greetings! I'm a newbie here. I was approved quickly for gastric sleeve surgery. I have a surgery date of June 22nd. The doc wants me on the liver shrinkage diet for 3 weeks so it's T minus 5 days until I need to start. I would love to find hints, tips, and advice on ways to make it more tolerable. I would also like to find & chat with other RA sufferers who are utilizing VSG in hopes of remission, like myself. Thank you!
