Good for you Erin. I think although this is a challenging process it is worth it. What woke me up and made me decide to move forward with surgery was reading an after dr visit note that said ‘she has been obese most of her adult life’. Whoa. I had been in this war for most of my adult life. Time to bring in reinforcements, the right equipment and tools and dig in to win.

I am so feeling you. 18 days out. I am worried this isn’t gonna work for me. I think my head is still in my addiction trying to get me to give up again. Believe in the process. I truly am trying to live one day at a time. Lol. I didn’t realize how much i relied on food for my entertainment, happiness and mood. My brain is freaking out. What did you do?! We need to eat!!

I have a sleeve so this might be different, but I make sugar free ice cream all the time. I use half and half, almond milk, oikos triple zero Greek Yougert, and eggs for the base. Then I use stevia and a variety of flavorings. I add 3 scoops of unflavored Protein powder. It has 22 grams of protein per serving. My favorites are Peanut Butter where I add PB2 powder, and chocolate almond using crushed almonds and coco powder.
This way I get ice cream and meet my protein goals.

@Robert-J Please listen to your doctor, not people on the internet. If your doctor said to eat more calories, don't eat fewer just because @LilaNicole20 who is not a bariatric surgeon or nutritionist thinks it's a good idea.
I am sure it's very frustrating, but give it time. The weight didn't come on overnight and you won't lose it overnight either.
Keep checking in with your surgeon, dietician, and therapist, and try meeting with an obesity medicine specialist if the surgeon thinks that would help (I was very hungry after surgery so the obesity medicine specialist put me on metformin and topamax, which have helped).
People have varied results and some people lose faster than others.

I think you can't expect everyone in your life to change everything in THEIR lives because you are having surgery. He was trying to give you a day off from cooking, but it felt more stressful to you. If you're going to start resenting his way of handling food, you're going to have a hard time moving forward, especially if you know he doesn't appreciate your responses (snarky comments - no one likes those!).
FWIW, I eat out like 90% of my meals because I travel for work most of the week and sometimes for 2 weeks in a row. You can eat out, you just have to think about what you're going to eat. I eat fish and veggies, or chili, or pulled pork, or a burger minus the bun. Or basically anything I want - even pizza if nothing else is available. I just don't eat very much of it and I try to limit the carbs (pizza is very rare, but sometimes it's what everyone else is having and I don't like being left out or being a party pooper).
Don't worry about every single meal being perfect - that's a way to set yourself for failure. Just aim to eat well 80-90% of the time, and you'll do great!

I was just thinking, their persistence to take you out could Have been out of lack of another plan. They knew they wanted to do SOMETHING for you for Mother’s Day and didn’t have any other ideas. Perhaps if you come up with something not food related that you would rather do in the future and you suggest it they will not pressure you so much to do dinner out??

I am two days out and when I take a sip of water I get a sharp pain coming up from my solar plexus area and into my chest. It is sharp and horrible. Is this normal? Is it just gas? Also-anyone else gurgle in their throat when they drink?

I had a lot of TRUE hunger right after surgery and everyone told me it was just "head hunger". I felt so dismissed and gaslit. Finally I talked to the bariatric therapist at my surgery center and she said about 20% of her patients don't lose their hunger after surgery.
But, you might be suffering from head hunger. With head hunger, you're usually craving a particular food, likely something sweet or salty or fatty. With "true" hunger, you would be happy to eat ANYTHING.
Also, once you eat solid food it might get better (it didn't for me; I'm still hungry all the time).
Talk to your surgery center. Good luck!

    Hi All,
Currently, my surgery is scheduled for May 3rd. I was wondering if there were any other people on a similar timeline who I could buddy up with for support and discussion. It will be covered by the insurance IF the results of my sleeping test were negative. I find that out on Thursday. Then the surgery is a go ahead for the 3rd. I am anxious about both.

Sounds like something you need to explain to your husband, you might come up with a healthy compromise.

Sexually there are other things that can be done without the need for another person. But this path is entirely yours.

But I myself would rather leave before I cheat.
