  1. Hi, I have a 9.75 band and had my first fill a week ago thursday, 1.8 ccs. I have been having problems consuming even liquids like tea and Water, I get the mucus and slime and it comes up. I can't hardly get anything down during the day but have been able to drink slim fast and a small amount of mashed potatos at night time. However tonight I have not been able to keep anything down. I am worried because I have been throwing up 5-6 times per day and tonight I threw up extra hard. So hard that it caused pain in my chest, neck and face and down my arms. Can the band tear away or anything like that when I throw up that hard. I hate to say it but it hurt so bad I cried and I consider myself pretty tough. Does this go away and how long does it take for the adjustment to the fill. Please help I was not worried until the last few days and I am begining to get scared. I don't want to rupture something from all this gagging and vomiting. My doctor is about 6 hours away and I live in a small town so I can't run back and forth to get fills or unfills very easily.

    painful eating

Hi, I was banded on March 4, 2006. At first I had some problems eating but later on it got to the point where I could eat almost anything as long as I chewed it really well and not too much with occasional PB's. Lost 20 pounds during the last few months. Just was not able to make it back to TJ until last Thursday the 6th. I think I will be losing much faster now as I have lost 6 pounds already. Having lots of problems with anything I try to eat or drink and sometimes after the first few bites and some PB's I am then able to finish eating. This even happens with tea. But as I read here I am seeing that many others are describing the same things such as the first few bites, the pain, the sliming and so forth. So I am going to definately try the breath holding. I have been PB ing every time 4-5 times or more per day with liquids, slim fast, yogurt, soup and mashed pototoes which are the only things I have tried to eat since my fill. I am thankful for all the information everyone shares on this site hopefully one day I will be able to help other too. Keep talking! Sincerely,

    Symptoms of Band Slipping

Hi Everyone, I am just wondering if the patients that are having slippage were done before they started stitching the band in place? Or do they slip anyway. It must hurt because if it is sewn down wouldnt it have to tear away in order to move? I was told that they used to not sew them in place and that now they do and that they slip less often. What do you all say? Thanks,
  4. Hi Shanna, I am so sorry that this happened to you. I am a newbie and I worry about this stuff, I am very glad that I got the band but do you mind if I asked you what made it slip and how did you know? I am four weeks post op as of last Saturday and I helped my husband move something that day and after that I had a sharp burning pain in my side near the place where the port is I think and it has finally stopped after 3 days. This is the fourth day and it barely hurts now. But it really scared me that maybe I tore something lose. Is it normal to get lots of adhesions from the surgery? Anyhow I will be going back in 2-3 weeks for my first fill and have it checked. Can they see it from the xray? Thanks and again so sorry that you don't have yours anymore. Sincerely, Diane
  5. Just want to say hello and I too look forward to learning and sharing with all of you. I think I am doing okay I am down 9 pounds so far and it was a week today. Had trouble with a gelcap getting stuck two days ago and ever sense it seems really sensitive when I ingest anything but clear, will this go away soon? I have little internal burps and hiccups sometimes, I had a PB when it happened, this did not hurt my band I hope...?? Greetings, Diane

    **snow** Finally!

Hi, Glad for your area you got snow. Maybe enough to support skiing and help your economy? We got snow here in Kingman too and we really needed the moisture too. I don't know the official amount but it was about 3-4 inches in our yard. Our dogs loved it! Diane

30 months and my band has slipped!

Hi, I am new and I had a PB on my 5th day from a gelcap, what does it feel like if it slipped?. I heard that they mostly used to slip because they were not tacked down. How invasive is the surgery to fix it if needed, is it the same all over again? Nervous in AZ! Diane
