Dschmitty got a reaction from NeonRaven8919 in Wisdom from a 10-year VSG Veteran@JamieLogical are you counting steps daily or going for distance? I need to go back to the basics of eating after surgery. I’m like you and can’t eat a lot of food for a meal and count that as a blessing. I’m recently dealing with a strained groin and doing pt for it. I’m getting frustrated because I’m starting to gain my weight back. There is always an obstacle for me to go through on this journey. Hoping and praying to get motivated soon!

I have tried three different brands of multivitamins. No matter how I take it, I throw up some days. I bought some iron-free pills, but I will need to take iron, so I don't know what the point is if I take them separately vs together. I took iron with no issues prior to surgery. I just try to eat a big dinner late, or have a decent sized snack with fat before I take the pill, then go right to bed.

I have this problem too. I have been told to take iron less multivitamins. I hope it works for us both

Dschmitty reacted to BigSue in Bariatric Advantage Ultra Solo with Iron VitminsIt is very common for iron supplements to cause nausea, which can sometimes be alleviated by taking on a full stomach (which apparently didn’t work for you). You might want to try chelated iron supplements (iron bisglycinate), which are supposed to be better absorbed and less likely to cause nausea or constipation, and switch to a multivitamin without iron.

My nutritionist said feeling that way is typically because of the iron in it. I had the same issue when i first had surgery finding one that did not upset my stomach and cause me to throw up. Going down from 45mg of iron to 18mg of iron helped a ton. Also eating and waiting about 20-30 minutes then taking the capsule helped as well. My nutritionist also said that if the nausea was a problem to take the pill right before bed so that way you are laying down and comfortable. I currently take the BariatricPAL multivitamin with 18mg of iron capsule once a day.

Dschmitty reacted to EastcoastUSvsg in Protein HELPProtein powder is the worst. I'm still in pureed stage so I've been buying Fairlife shakes; expensive but they taste good and are 30 grams each. I figure it's an investment until I can eat more food.

Dschmitty got a reaction from Merill in May Surgery BuddiesHello Everyone,
I’m 5 days post op and I’m doing 4 oz of full liquids plus meals. At my doctors appointment today my doctor asked me if I met my protein and liquid goals. Which confuses me because in Class 3 they were saying to make sure for the first week that you make sure to get the liquids in so you don’t get dehydrated. So in my mind for the first week decided to play it safe and follow the page they gave me at the hospital for meals and liquids. I would rather be safe then sorry I guess.

Dschmitty reacted to lizonaplane in Newbie!Welcome! Congratulations on your journey. It's certainly a difficult journey, but most people are happy they did it. My advice would be to follow your surgery center's plan and don't compare yourself to anyone else.
