  1. Hi everyone, so I'm finally on the list for WLS in the UK! I met with my surgeon and he said I should be getting my surgery this year . I chose the gastric bypass because I'm pre diabetic my surgeon said this would suit me better, I'm a little worried of malnutrition, I know I will be on Vitamins for the rest of my life, can I live a healthy life style with the bypass?
  2. Hi , so I'm looking to have surgery in Turkey this summer , I've paid my deposit, has anyone used surgeon Dr. İbrahim Karataş ?The research I've done he looks really good and has a great reputation, the surgery is taking place at medical park bahçelievler istanbul , has anyone used him before? I'm getting the gastric sleeve
  3. I have had my first appointment, I'm waiting for my pre op tests and i should have my second appointment before Christmas then surgery early next year ?
  4. how much can you eat after your sleeve compared with what you could eat before? I can eat a lot at pre op , I can literally eat and eat !! Some people say after about 6/7 months their restrictions isn't there as much, will there be some sort of restriction for life ? Or will you be able to eat again like you could pre op ?
  5. Hi everyone, I had my first appointment yesterday with the hospital and I will be having my pre op tests around December time, my surgery will be early next year ! Exciting! The only thing that worries me is loosing my hair! I know it grows back but I don't want to loose it full stop ! It terrifies me , my hair is the only thing I truly like about myself, are you more likely to loose hair with the bypass over the sleeve? Is there anyone who has been lucky and hasn't lost any hair ?
  6. Oh bless you! Sorry you had to go through that but like you say it was worth it in the end, thankyou! I'm so ready for it now ! I have lost 3 stone on my own in the last couple of years , I just need that tool now to help me
  7. Thankyou for your reply , I will ask at my appointment how long the waiting list is , I wish I could afford to self pay I have really looked at options to self fund but unfortunately I just can't do it
  8. Hi , so I have my first appointment in the next couple of weeks, exciting! I'm getting mine through the nhs as I have no ways of self funding, I can't get a loan as I wouldn't be accepted , anyway my question is has anyone had their op at luton and dunstable hospital? How long did you have to wait for surgery from your first appointment at the hospital? I'm hoping my surgery will be this year . Thanks
  9. Thankyou for responding and giving me information, it's a great help ?
  10. Hi I'm new here , I will be having wls this year , I'm still undecided if I'm going to have the sleeve or bypass, my bmi is 42 I carry most of my weight on my tummy , I've seen alot of people who have had the sleeve then go and have further surgery for the bypass , I know it's a tool but do people tend to keep the weight off more with the bypass ? It states with the bypass you struggle to absorb vitamins so you have to take vitamins for the rest of your life , does this work ? As I don't understand how you can't absorb vitamins from food but they give you tablets? Sorry for all the questions I'm really stuck and don't know which surgery to choose ! It also worries me with drinking liquids as I drink 3lr water a day can i do this with the bypass ?any people have success stories with the sleeve that has kept their weight off for 3+ years ?
