  1. Just came out of a long meeting at site and realized I was sitting on one of those foldable chairs with my legs crossed in order to take notes for almost 2 hours. Both my legs and the chair are fine and unharmed.
  2. I didn't have any regrets after the WLS but I remember feeling miserable during the liquid and pureed food stage. Drinking chicken Soup that was just bland and had no spices all day was not the best thing. My sister who had her surgery three weeks before me helped me a lot and made sure I pass that time without any issues or setbacks. We got your back. Just think of all the things you will be able to do and achieve after your start losing weight and that will definitely help you go through it. Good luck and hang in there.
  3. I started seeing a slowdown in weight loss around 13 months post OP and now the scale is hardly moving. I read that the rate will be high at first and will slow down as you about to reach your goal weight. I still want to lose 5 kg more but I'm not stressing about it. Planning to start exercising and hopefully that will help. I read some people here have tried fasting / IF to jumpstart the weight loss. I remember you posted about trying IF. How is that working for you? The important thing is to not stress too much about. I always remind myself that I've gained all that weight over a number of years and to lose it all over a few months would be a drastic change. Good luck
  4. Hi. I'm 18 months post MGB so I can relate. I had a similar experience like you but it was after 12 months or so. Everyone is different. What I do now is I make sure that I've something healthy to snack on with me. I pack extra salad with lots of lettuce and take it with me to the office. If I feel hungry, I'll have that otherwise I'll be looking for something else to eat. For me, I think it is a mental thing and not a real hunger. If I eat just a little or drink water or coffee it goes away. I hope this helps. Checking with your surgeon is a good idea
  5. This gives me ideas haha
  6. Thanks for the kind words. The vacation was amazing and for the first time I felt like I've got my money worth of fun. I was part of the action and not just an observer.
  7. Just came back from a short trip to Langkawi Island here in Malaysia with my wife and kids. This is my wife and I second visit after going there in 2013 for our honeymoon (time flies!). We all had a great time there specially my kids. The weather was nice and the island was not very crowded. I got to try a lot of things that I've never dared or was able to do before WLS. The trip was full of NSVs so I wanted to share some of those with you guys. 1. I didn't need a seat belt extension this time and had plenty of room in my seat! I was able to use the food tray without it pushing against my belly. 2. I tried parasailing (parachute on a boat), banana boat and even jet skiing for the first time in my life 3. I joined my wife and kids in playing all the rides and games in the water theme park. I was always the guy standing out of the pool cheering while my wife and kids were having fun. Not this time. My son was so happy that daddy was with him on the big water slide. Some of the rides had a weight limit of 80 kg (they even have a scale to weigh people who are close to that weight - I was not asked to hop on the scale haha). Climbing the stairs to the ride starting point would have given me a heart attack before WLS let alone sliding down. 4. We took a speed boat for island hopping which was awesome. In one of the islands we had to climb the stairs up to a beautiful lake (Unlike my first visit I was fine and not out of breath while carrying my bag and my daughter). We rented pedal boats and circled around the lake for 30 mins which was awesome. 5. We took some photos at the resort that we stayed in during our honeymoon 10 years ago. Left photo was taken in August 2013 and right one three days ago. This was also my first time ever wearing shorts in public and being at ease with it. Guess who bought 4 more shorts haha. The cherry on the cake was weighing myself after returning home to find that I've lost half of my weight on surgery day. A total of 74.5 kg lost which is my wife and daughter's weight combined!
  8. Thanks buddy! Likewise. I also enjoy seeing your progress photos. I will be posting about my recent island trip so stay tuned for that. Lots of NSVs
  9. Before (2013) and after (two days ago) photos taken at the same spot, 10 years apart. I'm officially half the man I used to be (74.5 kg down from 149 kg on WLS day). I obviously learned how to pose in photos ?
  10. Hi surgery buddy! Glad to hear that you are feeling good and loving the way you look. Well done and I hope you reach you goal. I'm also having the best time of my life and this past year and half has been filled with lots of NSV and proud moments. I'm now half the man I used to be. I weighed 74.5 kg this morning compared to 149 kg before WLS (74.5 kg or 164 lbs lost so far). My goal is 70 Kg so I have to lose 4 more kilos but I'm not in a hurry. I just came back from a short holiday with my family and I was able to do and try a lot of things that were impossible before. I'll post about it soon.
  11. Thank you so much! I feel awesome too. All the best
  12. Totally agree with you. That is why I like this community. You get to interact with and hear from people who have been through the same.
  13. I totally agree with this. This is similar to first world problems haha. Hopefully no one will go off on a tangent about these too. The intention of this particular post was not to brag (or humble-brag) about any of the "good problems" that I or the others have listed. I do that in other posts ?. My intention was simply to highlight what I consider to be problems or inconveniences right now (albeit minor). I think most of those who have replied got the gist of it but apparently some didn't which is fine. We can all have different views on things, otherwise life will be boring. We should just be civil when expressing our views. Problems can vary in severity. There are inconveniences (like me not being able to get the shirts I want on sale) and major issues like having high blood pressure before WLS. Only (some of) the people who had WLS will relate.
  14. I couldn't agree more. The whole intention of this post was to hear from others who "get it". I appreciate that some people don't.
  15. Have you noticed your opinions becoming unpopular after WLS? I don't usually label my opinions as unpopular because that would sound like humble bragging. They are just my opinions. Not necessarily true or a fact.
  16. Hi everyone. The mid-year sales are everywhere these days and I was trying to buy new shirts and pants online (my latest addiction). The "problem" that I'm facing is that it seems all the brands that I like only had sales on the big sizes (L, XL, XXL) but not M, S or XS. I don't recall this being a problem in the past haha. It must be a good problem to have then. This made wonder what other "good problems" I had since WLS. Here is what I could think of so far in addition to the one above: - I'm now working size S shirts. I need to find a brand that makes size XS shorts that fits nicely without being too tight. Two years ago, I was on the other end of the size chart / having custom-made shirt - We had a refresher safety training at site last week and I was chosen more than once to demo what we learned. I had to climb ladders, go into manholes (mock ones), confined spaces etc. I was never asked to do this before - I can't use my weight as an excuse for not doing stuff around the house that requires climbing on ladders etc. It would be interesting to hear yours.
  17. I might have done that on purpose last week lol. I wore a shirt that is 2 sizes bigger than my current shirts to the office. I got a ton of comments from my colleagues which was nice haha. I think I missed people's commenting on my weight loss which has stopped for a while now.
