  1. What you're feeling is perfectly NORMAL! And it WILL go away. In just a week or so you will be feeling like this was one of the best decisions of your life. I was banded Aug. 9th and when I woke up the next morning(and for a couple of weeks) I was in complete panic and disbelief of what I had just done. But when your soreness goes away and you start eating food again, you will forget that you have this in you and your addiction to food will start to lose its hold on you. You will not be consumed with food and you will start to lose weight. Trust me, just try to get through this next week, and this will look entirely different! God bless!
  2. I was banded Aug. 9 and got my first fill 4 weeks later. This gave me very little restriction. A week later, I got another fill. I feel like I might be a little too tight but I'm sticking with it(I'm losing 4 lbs per week). I'm scheduled to go in for another fill this Tues. but I think that I'm going to cancel it.
  3. Hi! I was banded in Everett on Aug. 9th. and just had my first fill and now am at 5 cc's and don't feel much restriction. I'm starting to feel like this isn't going to work. I started at 223lbs and have lost 10 lbs but haven't lost anything ina couple of weeks. How did your weight loss go? How fast did you lose?
  4. Have you had your first fill? How much have you lost since your surgery?
  5. Hi! I was banded on Aug. 12. I go in for my first fill on Tuesday. Have you had your first fill? What was it like. For the first 2 weeks after surgery, I could barely eat anything and I lost 10 lbs. But the last 2 weeks, I havent lost any weight and feel barely any restriction. I'm looking forward to my fill!
  6. I didnt have a preop diet. Just to maintain my weight.
  7. Thanks! Did they numb you up before they put the needle in to fill you? I'm a little bit nervous about the fill.
  8. I am new to this whole thing, so can someone answer a stupis question? What does it mean to PB?
  9. I had surgery on Aug. 12. I've lost 10 lbs and for some reason I feel like I should be losing more. I'm starting to feel discouraged. I have 75lbs to lose and I know that is in the first few months that you see the most rapid weight loss. Am I freaking out over nothing? I've seen other people's postings that say theyve lost 26 lbs by now! Another thing, anyone tell me an easy way to add a weight loss ticker to my profile?
  10. I, too, was banded on the 12th. The first time I tried soft foods, I felt nauseas after about a tablespoon of soft cooked salmon. I didn't try to eat again for a couple of days. But then the next time, I was fine. I think after I ate I got a lot of gas in my stomache. Try Gas X. How much have you lost so far? How much are you hoping to lose? As far as eating goes, don't be afraid, start with something like pudding or oatmeal and take only a few bites till the next day. See how you feel. When are you scheduled for your first adjustment? I'm kinda nervous about that. Does that sound silly? After everything I've already been through. Let me know how it goes. Good luck!
  11. how long does it take to feel comfortable again?
  12. I was banded a week ago today and I wonder if I made the right decision! I am not comfortable, can't eat anything and any hungry constantly! Did I just make a huge huge mistake? Will it get better? Will there ever be a time when I actually forget that there is this device in me. I dicided to do this so that my obbsession with food would not control my thoughts and life and now I am so hungry that food is all I think about. Help!
  13. I had surgery a week ago and my doc said that today i could start on soft foods. I tries a couple bites of runny oatmeal and I feel sick but still really hungry. Is this normal? Will this go away?
  14. I'm going to try it! I've got 75 lbs. to lose and I'm very motivated. I am open to the option of getting filled, though. We'll see...
  15. I'm so excited for you! You'll do fine! Some people don't even need the pain meds. But if you need them, use them!! I'm sure once we start seeing the weight come off, we will care less about all the food we can't eat. When you're feeling up to it e-mail me how things went. I'll be going in early Tues morn. You're in my prayers!
  16. My doc didn't put me on a pre-op diet--just to maintain my weight. My surgery is at 6am. I havent told my kids. They are too young to understand. Most of my family has no idea-and I prefer it that way. My sister will be out of town(I wish she were here) but she will call. My husband will go with me and take some time off if I need it. Hopefully it won't be a big recovery(not compared to my 4 c-sections). I'm a little worried about the liquid diet for the first week(never done that before). Is it hard?
  17. That is great news!! Noone ever drew my blood for anything.... I'm feeling nervous too. Actually, sick to my stomache;I think once it's over I be ok. I just can't think too much about it. What will I m be doing this weekend--probably trying not to panick about Tuesday. I'm such a wimp! What about you?
  18. I will be prayning for you! Are you feeling sick at all? Did they say that this is common? Please let me know what the results are. Will they call you tomorrow with them? They never scheduled me for any bloodwork-do they do that for everyone? Hang in there! I know it's got to be hard. One thing I sure of, it WILL happen-keep that in mind.
  19. Hi! We just got back tonight. It's good to be home. How are you feeling about Monday? I have been litterally panicking the last couple of days. I don't why but I'm feeling so nervous. I'm trying not to give it too much thought. Let me know how you're doing. I'm going to go off to bed.
  20. My husband and I leave for a vacation in the morning--just the two of us, no kids. I'm feeling very nervous leaving them but I know it's good for us. We'll be gone for a week. I look forward to chatting when I get back. It's been good chatting. Talk with you soon!
  21. It's nice to have a Chistian woman to talk with about this whole thing. I just had my pre-op appt. this morning and all I could think as I was sitting there is,"Am I really going through with this?" It seems like such a big step. Such a drastic decision. Part of me think that I just can think too much about it. Have you always been overweight? When I met my husband, I was a normal weight(my goal weight). I was binging and purging all the time, though. Once I stopped throwing up, I just starting gaining weight fast. I have about 75lbs to lose. Talk to you later
  22. I have 4 kids. Ages 2,4,6,and 8. Been married 12 years. I have a degree in Biology and Chemistry but I have been a stay-at-home mom since my first child was born. Do you work? I hear that losing weight can help with fertility issues. Are you guys wanting to start a family? How are you feeling as your surgery date approaches? Two weeks to go for us!!!
  23. That's pretty brave of you to even let your congregation know that you're going in for surgery. My sister's husband is a pastor, and my experience is that unfortunately congregations can get pretty nosy. But you're probably right, it's probably an easier way to field any food questions. My family is part of a small church plant in the everett area. It is a big change for us coming from a bigger church to a fellowship made up of a dozen or so families. A good change. As I write this, I am frantickly packing for our church family camp;we leave in a couple of hours. As far as food goes I find myself overeating because I know that I will be having surgery soon--SO BAD! I wish I could go in tomorrow and get it done. I am so tired of being a slave to my lust for food. It has controlled so much of my life. You know the scripture that says, if your eye causes you to sin, then better to pluck it out? Well that's how I feel with this surgery. I would rather never be able to eat like a normal person again in order to rid myself of this sin. Does that sound crazy? About your mom, I'm sorry. And I can empathize. I haven't told either of my parents. We can only pray that we are better parents to our children. Do you have any kids?
