:thumbdown:First surgery $9,900 out of pocket. which I am still paying for, $11,387.27 second surgery for fixing a port and tubing he "accidentally" puctured. There has been a total lack of empathy and compassion in this matter. He and his staff could not be more indifferent to my situation. I would not recommend this surgeon to anyone. I have spent to date a total of $22,787.27 Which includes my fills to 7 cc all of which are now gone. So here we go again, I get to pay another surgeon (because Dr. Laker has released me as a patient) for the fills all over again, At least I can say this doctor will not get another dime from me. Please watch for my story on Channel 7 action news, 7 on your side has decided to do an interview with me. Run as far as you can from Shannon Maxon and Dr. Scott Laker!

  4. I had to pay $9,900 the first time Doctor laker did my surgery, then when he punctured the tubing I had to pay $11,387.27 for the second surgery for a new port!
  5. I would never have this surgery again!!!! Dr Laker did my surgery at the DMC, Michigan. cost $9,900 May of 08 Now Aug. 4 of 09 I have not lost 1 pound, I had to have the port replaced, because The good doctor punctured my tubing insted of the port and he has gone on to charge me an additional $11,387.27, I do not think an assumed risk that you take when you have this surgery is reason enough for that additional charge. Be prepaired to pay for anything that goes wrong, it usually does, from what I have herd.
  6. My band is a year old, I had it done in Michigan at Harper hospital, and my Blue Care Network Insurance will NOT pay to fix this break. I wish I lived Down under!
  7. Thanks for the advice, had my Lawyer look at everything, but because lap band list this as a risk at the web page they no longer have to do anything. Trust me, I would not miss inform anyone if I have not already requested such a thing and have been turned down!
  8. I was slow but the band broke after one year. Now I have to pay for another surgery. Trust me I talked to a lawyer, it is a assumed risk and no one eles will pay!
  9. Dr laker was My doctor, His recovery nurses were horrible, after one year, He told me my band is broke and it will cost another $10,000 to fix. Cash pay assumed risk and not covered, Lawyer said no recourse!
  10. Lap-band say's it is an assumed risk you take when you have the surgery!
  11. I have had my band 1 year and never lost more then five pounds. Dr Scott Laker just informed me it is leaking (broken) and that I would have to pay for another surgery to fix this. Another $10,000 down the drain. I too was a cash patient and I have no more cash. At $150.00 per fill and I had 10 fills $1500.00. for a five pound loss. I am devistated, why would I pay more out to fix this???? Harper Hospital, Dr. Laker, Lap-band, someone else should be held accountable!
  12. I was banded May 29, 2008 and have only lost 7 lbs to date. It is a slow process and I keep telling myself one of these fills and its going to get easier. As for everything else, be strong, talk to God, and hopefully good answers will come, just remember His time line is different then ours.
  13. Hi, I too am a slow loser, I am down one more pound today but in five months I have only lost a total of 7lbs. I work out five times a week, for at least 40 minutes, and it still will not let go of me.
  14. When I go into Dr Laker on Wed. I will find out if I have muscle gain, the Tanita Body Composition has a breakdown of Fat mass and Muscle Mass. Last time I had gained one pound of muscle. Hopefully I will show a loss.
  15. I wish I could help but after six months I have not really lost any weight to talk about so I am still trying to figure that out. Sorry! Maybe you could walk me through what kind of meals you eat?
