I had my first "fill" today...yikes!
thank you for posting this. I was wondering what route I should take after my 2 days of liquids. I just had my first fill yesterday and I am still not even close to being hungry or thirsty, I am having to make myself drink.

Slider foods
what are you eating for your other meals? There are other low carb options that are fast and easy for luch like chicken or tuna salad, string cheese sticks, lunch meat / cheese rollups (I dip them in Mayo) Sugar Free Jello with Redi Whip If your not getting hungry before dinner you should be good to go but if you are then you need to think of other things to eat.

Band / Rollercoaster

Slider foods
I am 3 months post op as well and I eat whatever I want. I have no restrictions regarding my diet accept my 30 grams of non vegetable carbs per day. I have eaten things like a cheeseburger from Mc'Ds and I have had pizza but I went for the thin crust. I haven't had a fill yet as my MD and I are happy with my weight loss thus far. Although these past 2 weeks I have been really struggling to stay within my carb limit so I am thinking of getting a fill on my next appt 9/30

camping food ideas????
We went camping Fourth of July weekend...I was able to eat burgers & Hot Dogs like the rest of them I just didn't eat the bun. Also I brought baked Beans and made fresh veggies via a pouch over the fire...Squash, Broccoli, and Cauliflower. Tuna is a good quick thing to take also cottage cheese

very frustrated formed a pouch again
Thanks for posting this Angel I often wondered about this.

Options for removal - advice
I understand your concerns regarding the Insurance...however I would think that if it was medically necessary to have the band removed your insurance regardless would cover the surgery. Your not having surgery to put it in (which is more unique for insurances to cover) I imagine your surgeons office has come across the same scenerio I would ask them.

Bummed out
yes I gained 5 lbs when I switched to mushies. I go for my first fill tomorrow...I have since lost those 5lbs and maybe 2 or 3 more.

How long did you take of work?
I had my surgery first thing on a friday morning and I was back to work the following Wed....I could have forced myself to go back to work on Tues but I really am glad I took an extra day as I felt much better on Wed then I did on Tues. Keep in mind that my MD did my surgery with only 1 incision and I have a real lax desk job and was able to take a nap on my lunch break. I used liquid tylenol during the day to ensure I wasn't in any pain.

Curious...what side is your port on?

July 4th weekend is over...THANK GOODNESS
whew...glad that weekend is over..my weekend was full of camping and fun in the sun with a large group of about 30 people and you know what that means...food food and more food...oh yeah and then desert and drinking and oh wait...more freaking food. I think I did well. I brought my own snacks and made sure to stay away from most starchy things during meals...if I went for sliders like the chips and dip it was just one or two. Got home and weighed myself this morning and I think I might have even lost a pound or two woohoo!!!

fill-to do or not to do?
I wouldn't get the fill...I met someone at my MD office the other day that in a year has lost over 100 lbs and has only had 2 fills. Why fix what isn't broken...wait until you have plateau before getting a fill.

Protein foods...
Some things I go for that are QUICK are: Hard Boild Egg Tuna Cottage cheese...with a little salt cuz I really don't like it Handful of nuts Peanut Butter...I'm Ok with eating it right off the spoon so I keep it in my desk at work "just in case" lol String Cheese...they have a long shelf life chicken salad with leftover chicken...add a little cut up apple dried cranberries and walnuts.super yummy lunch meat and cheese roll ups - i sometimes dip them in mayo Hope this helps

Not banded yet & already got discouraged...
I think how you are feeling is very natural. I too felt the same way throughout my journey to get banded...many family members took notice that I had lost 20 lbs in my pre-op diet and tried to convince me I didn't need it, but I can tell you in the 2 weeks that I have been banded I DID need it to help me in my desire for a healthy happy me. I have a 4 yr old son and I want him to be able to enjoy the best part of me. It's so hard to get control of your love of starches when your are cooking for a family. I now eat off of a salad plate after dinner and I am stuffed. I eat 3 times a day and really so far have no desire to snack in between meals...even while my co-worker sitting right next to me is eating chip, cookies, and candy...that in itself is AMAZING to me. Only you can decide what is best for you....for me I am addicted to carbs...I was in denial for a very long time but the band is a great tool to help with that addiction so I am going to embrace it...your not alone we are all here for you!

Had surgery- changed insurance and now not covered
wow...I see where your coming from...I never honestly thought about that scenerio. However I know my MD is affiliated with a hospital that will see you even if you have the inability to pay so if I needed to have my band removed for emergency reasons...maybe something to look into on the "in case"

addicted to carbs
yup...I've realized it!!! I really am addicted to carbs...I think I was truly in denial but it's quite apparent with each passing day after being banded...I'm an addict!!! As of today I have no food restrictions...this is gonna get interesting...thought before I was going to try to avoid getting a fill but it's obvious i'm gonna need one and soon...to bad I have to wait 2 weeks...this is gonna get ugly!!
