Elle_1720 got a reaction from katehackenburg in Kept it Quiet?I made a decision from the beginning to keep this whole process a secret from almost everyone except my husband (my kids are too little to understand so they didn’t need to know), my mother, 1 brother and my best friend. No one else knows - not even anyone at work. I had my surgery and was able to get back to work after 4 days off. I work from home though so that was easy to do.
People do judge unfortunately and I didn’t need any negativity in my life while going through this major life change.

Elle_1720 got a reaction from huskymama in Hey There! Any December 2021 Surgery Friends?Hey all,
I had my procedure on Dec 11. I’m down 59 lbs. starting weight was 236lbs and I’m 177lbs as of today. The last week has been tough for me. I’m craving chocolate and chips and all the bad stuff that put me at my highest weight. I also struggle to get enough water in and protein.
Overall I’m so happy with my decision to have this surgery but I now find myself searching for plastic surgeons for tummy tucks and other skin removal procedures.

15 lbs is still a great accomplishment, congrats!! I agree, protein shakes can be really pricey. I have found that juat about every pre-made shake has a powered alternative that is much more affordable. Takes less than 5 minutes to prepare them and averages about $1 per "shake" which is a much better value. Personally my "go to" is chocolate premier protein.

Elle_1720 reacted to csrouse in Hey There! Any December 2021 Surgery Friends?Hi all. Wanted to check in and see how folks are doing? I had my sleeve 12/9 and the weight loss is slowing already. Nutritionist says I’m right on track but it sure is hard not to see the scale moving. I’m tracking 100%, hitting my protein and staying well within calories. It can’t stay stalled forever right?
also how the heck do you update current weight? I figured it out

Elle_1720 reacted to ladygodiva in Hey There! Any December 2021 Surgery Friends?Bypass 12/23. I can’t say I am feeling “great” yet but all things considered I am doing pretty good. Better than my hysterectomy on post op day 3. I switched to only Tylenol today for pain control and it is working to keep me fairly comfortable. My abdomen is sore for sure and this belly band has been a life saver. I am tolerating liquids fine. Problem is getting enough in to stay hydrated. Two post op issues are constant cough/post nasal drip and constipation. Coughing hurts the belly for sure! Hope it goes away soon. -
12/13 for me. I have been wondering if it is a fluke that I’ve done so well. No nausea. No pain. Getting my fluid and protein and vitamins. Hoping my good luck continues.

Elle_1720 reacted to csrouse in Hey There! Any December 2021 Surgery Friends?I had my sleeve done 12/9 and was out hiking this afternoon. I’m chewing thoroughly and have had no issues with any soft foods I’ve tried. I have one incision site that is a bit uncomfortable at times, but other than that, feels too good to be true only 2 weeks out. For those getting ready, or a few days post op, hang in there. It gets better. I was singing a whole different tune for the first few days.
