  1. Current weight: 208 Goal for challenge: 190 I didn't quite make my goal for Valentines so here is hoping the Easter Challenge goes better. I am a slow loser as well.
  2. How are things going? I bet you are counting down the days. Just PM me if you have any questions.
  3. How exciting for you!!! I was banded by Dr. Brown's partner Dr. Metz and my experience was similar everything went so fast. I live in the San Luis Valley which is about 4.5 hours south of Denver very near the New Mexico border so you are luck that you are fairly close to Dr. Brown's Office. Keep me posted on how things go and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.
  4. My goal is 15 pounds. That would put me in onederland. I haven't been there for a while as well. Good luck to everyone with their Valentine's Day Weight Loss Challenge/goals.
  5. I have watched her story once before. Very heartbreaking.
  6. I am feeling the same thing every time I eat as well. Did anyone talk to their Doctor about this? My headaches last for about an hour after eating as well. The "head freeze" headache describes it exactly. Did anyone have to get an unfil?
  7. Here it is almost 3 months out and I haven't lost any weight since coming home from the surgery... So today I sit and wonder if the trick isn't really on me.:mad2: I have been walking and trying to watch what I eat and have been concentrationg on how I chew and make sure to never drink during meals. It is very frustrating to not see the scale move and not have any NSV. The worst part of it all is when people ask how much weight I have lost. I go in for my 3rd fill on 11/7/08 and I am hoping to feel some restriction. I really would be happy with at least loosing 1 pound a week. I guess I should be happy about not gaining, but I can't help but being frustrated. My first fill was on 9/12/08 for 3.4cc's( I have a 10 cc standard band), my 2nd fill was 2cc's for a total of 5.4cc's. I am trying to stay positive as the nurse stated that most people start to really see results with 6-8cc's. I hope I am almost there!!! I hope this is the last Halloween I have to feel like a stuffed pumpkin. Happy Halloween to All!

  9. HI! I had surgery at CBSI on August 14, 2008 with Dr. Metz. I have been very happy with things there so far. If you have any questions just ask. Good luck to you beginning this journey.
  10. I am excited for you. I remember that feeling... Don't get too nervous. The hardest part is waiting.. time seemed to drag on forever. Will you stay overnight? Take things slow after surgery!!! Walk, Walk, Walk when you feel up to it. GOOD LUCK! Let me know if I can be of any help. I was banded on 8/14/08.
  11. HI! Let us know how you are doing!!! I hope all goes well for you.
  12. I was banded by Dr. Matthew Metz with Colorado Bariatric Surgery institute. I went in for my initial appt, preop, nutrition and Social Work on July 17th and was able to schedule surgery that day for August 14th. My insurance approved the procedure within 5 days(2 of those days were the weekend) My procedure was scheduled for 11:30am and I was released by 4pm that day. Everything has gone well so far. I had my first fill on Sept 12th and will be getting my 2nd on October 16th. I am hoping this 2nd fill gives me some much needed restriction.
  13. HI! I live in very southern Colorado, about 10 miles from the New Mexico border. I was banded by Dr. Matthew Metz with Colorado Bariatric Surgery Institute in Denver. They do take insurance. I have BC/BS and had to be banded by a doctor who performs surgery at a "Center of Excellence", my surgery was performed at Presbyterian/St. Lukes which is a "Center of Excellence". I have been very pleased so far. I am schedule for my 2nd fill on October 16th. Good luck with your search.
  14. We arrived at the hospital at 7:15 am, but wasn't supposed to check in till 8:30 (my parents drove me to the hospital and they wanted to make sure we found where we were going). I was immediately called back to finish up all the billing paperwork etc. Then about 10 minutes later the nurse took me back and did a quick check up and then I was given an EEG. Because we were early we sat around and watched Prices Right on TV until they came in and took me to the preop area. Before they took me to preop the nurse gave me a shot of Heparin in my abdomen and suprizingly I did not feel a thing, not even buring after the injection:thumbup:. We waited around in the preop area and had talked and laughed a bit. My mom thought that I literaly meant my Surgeon Dr. Metz was only 12. I had told her that he looked 12. Anyhow, at around 12:20 they finally gave me a shot of versed and then I remember them puting the mask over my mouth and then the next thing I knew I was awake in the recovery area. I was so tired I couldn't stay awake I kept trying to make myself wake up so I could be steped down to the holding area before going home. There was another young man in the recovery area and the nurses were busy with him so it took a bit longer in the recovery area than I had expected. My 5pm my parents went across the street and picked up my pain and nausea medication. (I never needed the nausea medication) but the pain pills are good stuff!!! We had to stay a night in Denver because the drive home is over 4 hours so the Dr. wanted to make sure I was stable before we left the area. Pain was not bad at all, the pain from the gas in my shoulder didn't come until around day 3 but was managed with lots of walking. I was back to work on the 18th and have been doing well since. Good luck to everyone as they make this journey. The surgery was not bad at all and recovery was not so bad the gas was the most painful. Reading these surgery day stories helped me to know what to expect.
  15. YOu still have this book for sale?
  16. The weekend went by so quickly. I just hope the next 41.5 hours go by just as quickly. The baby shower and birthday party went well. I can't wait till I get to meet my new niece!!! I hope she isn't born while we are gone to get the surgery. My last meal before the preop clear liquid diet for 3 days was left over sub sandwich(we had so much left from the baby shower) and guacamole. The first two days on the preop clear liquid diet have not been bad at all. My stomach really rumbled the first day at lunch but I keep drinking my Crystal Light and it has been so bad. Broth has left something to desire but I am sure I will be wishing I had some broth after surgery. This will be my last blog post until after the surgery as we will be leaving tomorrow night(8/13) for surgery on 8/14. The drive is about 4.5 hours or so and we have to be at the hospital to AM admissions by 8:30am. My has band has been a bit of a grump...He always tends to get that way when he is anxious or scared about something. I know he is more anxious because he actually won't be able to be at the surgery. My biggest yikes for the past couple of days is now my son (2year old) has strep throat. I am praying that I don't get it before we leave to surgery, because that would be a disaster since we have to travel so far to get to the surgery. I am still very excited and nervous at the same time. So far, things haven't quite hit me yet, maybe because I am looking forward to the journey ahead and put the tiredness behind me... Here is hoping to new me!!! :frown:

  18. HI! I will be banded on August 14th at Colorado Bariatric Surgery Institute in Denver, by Dr. Matthew Metz. I am starting my clear liquid diet today. I am so excited and nervous at the same time.
  19. Will you both be attending the support groups? I live to far away to attend, but I do appreciate having the two of you as support...to being healthy!
  20. ibldenver:hope you get the go ahead from Dr. Metz. My surgery is scheduled for 11:30 so it sounds like I might be right after you. Are you both starting to get nervous yet? The liquid diet is starting for us very soon!!! Just looking forward to that. I hope it goes well for all of us. I wasn't at the Nutrition Class on the 4th. I actually had all my appts on July 18th as I live so far away. My iron was low when I did my preop blood work so that could be my hang up. So have you had any fever at all with your procedure on the 7th?
  21. Well only 5 more days till the day. I am so excited & scared both at the same time. I don't think I was nearly half as excited as I was for my wedding day. I of course am not into being the center of attention. I am the caregiver and don't have much time to care for myself, that is why this surgery is so important to me. IT IS ABOUT TIME I START CARRING FOR MYSELF!!!! :frown: At my preop appt on June 18th I weighed in at 236 with a BMI of 44.1. My highest weight after nursing my son was 243 on May 31, 2008. My husband has been supportive throught the preop process by going to appts with me and asking questions that he was concerned about. I have chosen to tell some people and haven't really decided on others, but you know how people talk, so I am sure that I won't have to tell many more people because the will have heard it from "the grapevine". This weekend will prove to be a busy weekend. There is the birthday part on Saturday for my lil cuzin that is turning 1. Then Sunday another big day "my future niece's baby shower, can't wait to see you RaeLee!). Not to mention Sunday may last day of eating... At least preop. I start a clear liquid diet Monday-Wednesday and can't drink anything after midnigh on Wednesday.... I hear this can be one of the hardest parts, I am excited to start the process. My husband won't be able to go with me when I get my surgery. Which in the long run might be better as he tends to get anxious very easily and if there were to be any complications it may be harder on myself. 5 more days and counting!!!!

  23. I will probably be getting the regular size band, I belive the maker is Allergen or something like that. I don't think he starts with a small file. I forgot to ask.
  24. I have been researching since about late April or so. I got my blood work back from the 9health fair and new I needed to make a change. I am nervous also, especially the being put to sleep part. You have any kids? I have a son he will be 2 on Monday and my daughter is 7. I know I need to do this so I can be around for them as they grow up. I did already got everything all finished up. Did everything in one day because of the travel. The only thing left to do is get labs redrawn because of the low iron.
  25. Very Southern Colorado, the San Luis Valley. I am very excited!!! Did you already do your psych eval? How long have you been thinking about getting this done?
