Mstravel302 reacted to Juniper123 in just ventingUgggg, I forgot how much the preop diet sucks. I'm being revised from a lapband to gastric bypass on July 6. My band has been unfilled since December, so I've been able to eat normally since then.
My current surgeon has me doing two weeks of shake for breakfast, shake for lunch, healthy choice steamer for dinner. Last time I did all liquids, staying under 20 grams of carbs, but it was only for a week.
From what I remember, the first days of the preop diet are the worst and then I kinda got numb and it wasn't so bad. But I'm in the thick of it now. And staring down two full week of this is daunting. I made it last time, I'll make it this time, but just uggg.

Mstravel302 reacted to SHORTY_ in Pre opSmoking and vaping play a factor into anesthesia and puts you at a higher risk for heart attacks, blood clots and pneumonia. I know it's frustrating but keep in mind they are only wanting what's in your best interest. It will get here before you know it!

Mstravel302 reacted to Samerin22 in Insurance Requirement AnxietyHey, so I am in the early process of the getting the sleeve done. I have two more "supervised weight loss" appointments and my anxiety is through the roof. As a requirement for my insurance, I cannot gain any weight. I go next week for my weigh in and obsessing over it. I was down 8 pounds, and now I am down 5 pounds, but I still have six days to go. And then I cannot gain any weight from the previous weigh in. Anyone else feel stressed about this requirement? The whole point of the surgery is because we cannot lose weight easily or even maintain the weight. Any advice?

Mstravel302 reacted to james2021 in Documented weight loss attempts!Unfortunately, most people have this requirement for insurance and most of us have to start at square one even though we've been attempting diets all our lives. I started the process in October and also started my once/month visits with a dietician then. It seemed like it would be forever but the 6 months of medically-supervised dieting passed so quickly.

Mstravel302 reacted to vikingbeast in Approved! O frabjous day! Calloo! Callay!I've been reading so many stories on here about people having to go fight for their insurance to cover things. I even started taking notes about things people said to their insurance so that I could just be ready for what I thought was inevitable. I even got a letter from them saying they needed all these pieces of paper that I know were submitted (turned out to be a kink in their process).
But CIGNA approved my pre-certification in THREE BUSINESS DAYS. I just got the notification! Now we just schedule a date, do all the pre-surgical testing, whatever they require for a pre-op diet (it looks like just one day of liquids, which is weird) and pray it doesn't get cancelled due to the Covid surge. My insurance coordinator at the bariatric clinic was 100 percent on top of things and had all my ducks in a row before I was even aware I needed ducks. ?
This isn't a flex... I really, truly, was expecting to have to fight, and I'm so relieved I don't, that I feel like I lost thirty pounds already!
