  1. Hi Emma, I hope you are feeling better by now. I am also experiencing some of the things you described like pain after eating I sip my protein drinks and water slowly just enough to wet my tongue and swallow and even wait a minute between sips but it just kills my left side, its like a horrible stabbing burning sensation that stops me in my tracks, my back has hurt since the day of surgery and I am almost 3 weeks post op. Have you been to see a doctor and if so did they find anything wrong?
  2. I just wanted to share a protein shake that has helped me get through my post op liquid phase after VSG. It tastes amazing imo like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich ? best of all just shake it in your shaker cup and enjoy! 8 0z 1% milk 2 tablespoons PB2 powder peanut butter 1 scoop unflavored protein 1tsp sugar free raspberry syrup
  3. Hi Jasmine, I had my surgery the 13th and I did experience the same issue with drinking my liquids, my doctor suggested ice packs on the tummy and to take advil gel minis which I take 2 in the morning before I even get out of bed and let my tummy settle down before I get out of bed. That has seemed to help with the swelling and pain in the actual stomach and after it kicks in I can actually sip my liquids and protein with a sip sip small pain and burp. Something that also helped me was drinking Gatorade G2 clear protein drinks and making them into Popsicles as well. I hope this helps and you'll want to make sure your doctor says it's OK to take the advil but it has seriously made a huge difference for. Good luck and it does get better, a tiny bit everyday im 11 days out and I still get gas pains but way less.
  4. Hey Tomm, I had my surgery on the 13th as well! I hope you are doing well!
  5. wow, sounds like you're doing fantastic! I'm 6 days post op and down 11lbs my start weight was 251.4 and today's is 240 on the dot! my weird burps are gone and all body parts are back to working they way they should except the soreness from the incisions, I'm able to keep up with my protein and water and vitamins. Sleep is much better in my recliner (once I find a comfy spot.) I feel like everything is going well now, those first few days are sure rocky but I feel so much better than I did! Its a crazy journey but well worth it!
  6. congrats thats so awesome! On my surgery date I was 251.5 and I am 6 days out and down to 240 on the dot! I haven't experienced hunger pains yet or maybe I have? I'm not sure what they would feel like now? My gas is much better and I'm getting around much easier now. I found a comfy position to sleep so I feel like I'm into a good groove today ?
  7. I did as well! how is everything going for you?

  13. VSG Surgery September 13th in Portland Oregon Does anyone else have an iodine allergy? I cant seem to find many options as of shakes and multivitamins that don't contain Iodine and that meet the low carb, low sugar, low fat requirements for post op diet, anyone else having this problem? Any suggestions would be great!
  14. Its been harder than I thought as well, going for walks and staying busy has helped me a lot. You can do this! your almost there!
  15. Hi all, my first time here, my surgery is scheduled for September 13th I was told only a clear liquid diet the day before surgery and nothing after midnight but otherwise eat a normal diet, is this typical? I am adjusting my diet starting today to include a protein shake and healthy meals with my daily vitamins. Has anyone else had the same directions from their doctor and where you told to avoid caffeine?
