That story made me sick. But the Chinese have always been very concerned about appearance. They think by telling the truth about it up front, it makes it ok. That little girl was so sweet, she said she was just happy to have her voice heard.

I'm glad you were happy with your consult with Dr. K. I had mine yesterday and I thought he was great. I did enjoy the french fry lady story, lol! You can bet I won't be eating any french fries. I am getting banded Sept. 3 with Denver girl and Christina. I guess we are his whole day! Now taht I have spoken with him, I am so excited. Deb

I am so happy to have two band sisters on the same day as me!! This will be a fun and successful journey for all of us.

Sometimes I think when people are not being supportive and saying things like that and they are also overweight it is like they are afraid that soon they will have to face up to their own problems with food and weight. They are not ready to take control of their lives but do not let them get you down. Be proud of yourself for taking control and making the decision to get healthy. I wouldn't even discuss it with your sister any further. Stay positive. Deb

Julia, lol, I got the same letter in the mail and I thought the same thing! My BMI was 39.44 but still I have 3 co-morbidities (gotta love that word huh? NOT). I was like, gee, thanks for the kit guys. I am self pay so I don't have to worry about the insurance company but I wanted the kit because it sounded like it would be helpful. I wonder if they even have kits, maybe they just send everyone a dear John letter. Deb

I've decided not to tell anyone other than my family for now anyway. I want to stay positive and do not want the pressure of people watching to see if I am getting smaller or what I am eating etc. Just don't think I need the outside influences of people who do not understand what I am going through. I am getting banded on Sept.3 (Wed.) and returning to work the following Monday. Sounds like we all pretty much have the same time frame in mind. I am going to Colorado for my surgery and will be staying until Sunday. I'm not sure how I'll feel so I thought the extra few days there might be good since I live in Florida. But then I have to come home Sunday and go right to work the next day.

Ready, Wow, I can absolutely see a difference! Girl, you look amazing. I think it is hard to tell when looking at yourself but just look at those pictues and surely you can see what we all see. You should be very proud. It's a huge accomplishment. Way to Go!! Deb

Thanks for the welcome BUG! I wish my suregry date was before Sept. 3 but I am getting excited. I have lost 12 pounds on the pre-op low card diet so far. I got a little gung ho and started way warly and now don't want to stop because I will gain it all back! Deb

Hi Melann, Nice to meet another person inthe area. I will be going to CO. since I am self pay but I live in Tallahassee and would love to stay in touch. When is your surgery? I called Dr. Crooms to see if he would do my fills but they said no way! Oh well, it would have been nice.

What date will you be banded? I am going on the 3rd! I have priced everywhere and it seems like it is less costly to go back to CO to Dr. K so that is what I will do, at least for now. If it's going to cost me the same I might as well stick with the surgeon performing the surgery.
