    July Butterflies Master Thread

Hi everyone, I was banded July 14 in Arkansas. I am glad that I am not the only one who has found that I can eat more than 4 oz. I was worried that I might have already over done it. I went in to my doc at 2 weeks post op and was told I could pretty much eat what ever I could tolerate. Which so far has been anything. He offered to give me my first fill then, but I refused. I thought I would try to hold out for 6 weeks. But I am going to call and see if I can get a fill at 4 weeks. I lost 14 pounds pre-op and not a pound since. I am ready for some results. I don't want to gain back what I have lost. Glad everyone is doing well.

    Arkansas Bansters!!!

I found Skinny Cow chocolate milk today at Walmart in Cabot. I also picked up some ice cream too. Pretty tastey. Thanks. I had my 2 week follow up today and all is well. I am down 13 pounds since I started this journey. My doc asked me if I was ready for a fill, which I thought was odd. Because all of the research I have done indicates your not really ready for a fill until around six weeks. I refused the fill. Is this normal or did I misunderstand something somewhere along the way? Just curious has anyone else gotten a fill before six weeks post op?

    July Butterflies Master Thread

hey goober, I had my surgery on july 14. I didnt even know i had a hernia. But apparently i did too. Exactly where is that type of hernia because that is the type they said i had too. So now i am 3 days out and i dont know what pain/soreness is from the hernia or what is from the banding. I have five incisions and possible another inside my bellybutton but i cant tell(but they had put a bandage there). Also what is every one eating/drinking at a few days out? I am so sick of Jello and gatorade and Protein shakes. anyway, i was so glad to have found this place. You guys have so much to share. thanks. Now, a little about my self. I am a 32 year old single mom of a 5 year old boy. i live in arkansas. i will be 33 at the end of this month and having the lap band was my birthday present to myself. i am self pay so i will be paying it off slowly. but i am sure it will be well worth it.

    Last chance???

Thanx everyone for your replies. It is SO nice to hear from people who are going through this. Thanks so much. I look forward to getting to know you all.
  8. Hello everyone, --first time here. I am scheduled to be banded on July 14. After considering lap band for about 2 years, I finally decided to go for it. I am self pay. Everyone that I have told about being banded has been constatnly asking me "Are you nervous?". And up until now the answer has been NO. But now...??? I feel like ..ok .. this is my last chance at a normal life. What if I can't do this? If I fail at this then there is nothing left out there to help me achieve a healthy weight. I am normally not this negative sounding and I don't want to set myself up for failure. I decided to be banded a little over a month ago. I was relieved to have finally made that step. I went overboard with the " this is my last chance to eat nachos, french fries, popcorn, etc. I probably gained 5 pounds. So now for the last 2 weeks before surgery I am supposed to be on 2 protein shakes and 1 lite meal per day. Well the protein shakes taste like muddy water and I am starving all the time. I cheated horribly on the 4th of july. And now I feel like I don't know if I am strong enough to do this. I am committed to doing this and making the lifestyle changes for me and my son. I'm just wondering is it normal to go overboard with trying to consume all my favorite foods " one last time". Please any advice is welcome. I am freakin' out here.
