    Hate this crap!

Hey don't feel bad, they postponed my surgery the day before, if I hadn't called they wouldn't have told me until I got there for surgery..my EKG was irregular and had to get a cardiac clearance...so that took months..long story...but I finially had it done Jan. 21st of this year, I've had 2 fills and went 2 weeks ago for another fill the Dr. couldn't find the center of the port...long story short, I went today for an Xray so they could get it and my port has flipped...soooo now they have to unflip the flippin thing...another procedure...so I hate this crap too..good luck and be patient.

    Full liquids and protein?

I found a whey protein powder at the health food store that is sugar free and is quite tasty you can mix with milk, or soy milk or water (but I've never tried it with water) I would think it wouldn't be as thick. It also comes in a variety of flavors, it's made by Syntrax and it called Nectar..it's the best I've ever tasted...If you can't find it you can order it online or find where it is sold in your area. With the vanilla you can mix it with fruit too. Anyway it a suggestion, good luck. Starr
  5. I had a date for surgery but when I had my pre-op they did an EKG and there was an irregular heartbeat, well they cancelled my surgery and since I've seen a Cardiologist did the tests and now I have to have an Angiogram, I'm frustrated and thankful at the same time that the hospital is so thorough, had I not been going through this process I could have had a heart attack...anyone else have any similar problems? Thanks for listening...

  7. I got a Nov. 11 date:thumbup:...it's been a 10 month wait and it's finially here, tomorrow I have to go sign papers, then on the 7th I have my Pre-op app't and then the 11th is next... I thankfully didn't have to do a pre-op diet so I've been not really watching it and now that I have a date it's like I have to get it all in before I can't have it anymore...so good luck to all of you getting ready for this and good luck to me too...

    Pacificare help

Hi Debi, I've already gone to the nutritionist and had the psych eval. Tuesday night I'm attending a seminar that the hospital requires for the LB, I'v done it all except the tests they require (blood etc.), so maybe I'm not too far off...thank you so much. How are you doing?

    Pacificare help

Thank you, I have checked and they do cover it but I was just wondering how long it takes after the final visit with my Dr. I will have to wait...a month 2 months..a few weeks...I am attending a seminar Tuesday evening at the hospital where I will go for the banding but I don't know what happens after that...The hospital only requires the 1 seminar, at least that's what the lady told me that I talked to, and she wasn't very friendly so I didn't ask her too many questions. But the hospital was recommended by 2 Drs. So I picked it over Sacramento..I know each Dr. has his own procedures that he follows. I'm really anxious to get this done as I need to have another surgery on my shoulder and I want to get the LB done first...it has a quicker recovery than the shoulder...sorry to ramble on. I thank you for the info. Starr

    I think I suck!

Every diet is a struggle and you can do this...look you've already lost 15 pounds!!! That's an accomplishment...way to go!!!!..It does sound like you may need to attend a support group but if you can't this one is great...you need a cheerleader and we are here!!!!

  16. Hi, I have Pacificare and they only pay for a hospital in Oakland or Dr. Koura I think it's at Sutter..it's called the Slim Life Center in Sac..since I live in Manteca Sacramento is easier to get around for us but I don't know anything about either of them...thanks for answering and if you do happen to hear any info on Dr. Koura could you pass it on to me, I sure would appreciate it.. Thanks, Starr
  17. Has anyone had their lapband done in Sacramento at the Slim Life Center or Oakland at the Alta Bates Summit?..those are my 2 choices and I don't know anyone who has gone there...

Lack of support? Taunted with food?

Hey at least you're helping yourself and they are just hurting themselves..hang in there I know it's tough, everytime I've been on a diet my family ate foods I loved too but you've already started on the right path stay with it...besides you know if you have anything else right now you will get sick....They are going to be so jealous of you when you're skinny...

    I'm new here

I'm fairly new here but there is always someone that has answers, although I asked for help with were I have to go for the surgery and I don't think there is anyone from my area on here, but most of the questions get answered..
  20. Dr. Coirin (sp) is in Modesto.. I don't know how he is on Lapband but heard bad stuff about Gastric Bypass but that was a few years ago...I have to go to Sac. or Oakland for mine.

    Help!!!!!!!

Hi MsNeka, I'm just starting my process with banding but from all I've read on this site everyone is happy with it and lots have been banded for years so don't concentrate on the negative, I think we still have to use our heads when eating but we're not getting any better the way we are...RIGHT?...I know people that had the Gastric By-Pass that have gained their weight back but if you see what they eat you'd see why. A girl at work had hers By-Pass 2 years ago and she has put on some weight but she snacks on cheetos and junk, plus she drinks alcohol quite a bit too so there you go...we still have to be sensible when we eat and with the banding we won't be able to eat as much either...think of it that way...how many diets have you been on and when you went back to eating the "Old" way you gained it back? Every one...It's a life changing procedure...so don't concentrate on the negative think POSITIVE!!!...You can do this!!!
