  1. Today I had my first check up since my surgery 2 weeks ago. It went well and I was told I'm now able to do 'pureed food' going forward over the next 3-4 weeks. So for dinner, I pureed mashed potatoes and fish in sauce (2 tablespoons as suggested at appt today) I couldn't eat it all, took 30-40 mins eat what I did, then 20 mins after that I had cramps and was running to the toilet. Trial & error here, back to the drawing board tomorrow, I think 😉
  2. Thank you for your comments and hints Arabesque 😊 I’m trying hard to do the right thing and follow the instructions given and I’m sure it’ll get easier. I got through it with no other upset yesterday . Today, I’ll make sure I take it more gently and go slowly 👍 it’ll get better, I’m sure👌 It’s just trial & error ☺️😉

    July 2021 Surgery People!

Onwards & upwards Anj0399, I had a dreadful reaction to the anaesthetic and was very sick the first night after op. But ok now, just learning what I can tolerate👌 It’s a new way of life and I intend to grab it by both hands 💕

    July 2021 Surgery People!

I took stretchy Lounge pants and an oversized T-shirt to come home. Now, this may be very personal, but I took a bra and sloggi pants for underneath clothes , big mistake. One of my incisions is directly between my breasts, no bra then!! and then sloggies were too tight on my over inflated belly!! 😂 so you can guess how I went home right there🤷‍♀️ but since then I’ve ordered a lovely soft bra and bought bigger sloggis to get me by🙏 Just don’t take too much into hospital, you really don’t need a lot. Good luck 😉

Hi Sue2, how are you today? I’m so glad your burning feeling is getting a bit better, it’s not good that you are dealing with that and the ‘after effects’ of your surgery too. I started at 214lbs and now 195lbs, I’ve had some health issues that will hopefully subside with the surgery and that was my primary reason for choosing to do this. Ive fought all my life with my weight and I’m in my early 60s now. I’m very much a person that runs about as if I’m 20 yrs younger and it was time to take it all in hand really. I’ve stayed same weight for 2 days now so I think I’ll start weekly weighing, it may make me appreciate the losses a bit better that way 😊🙏. I feel like a hamster on a wheel every day, just hoping it gets better and more manageable soon 🤷‍♀️ I tried to take a little walk yesterday, maybe too far! I had to stop and rest twice! We’ll get there, just don’t know when😊👌x It’s certainly not easy Candace76, but eye on the prize ( as they say!) I just look forward to getting my liquids up and as time goes by, I’m sure I will. I tried to do the sipping before the op too, in the hope it would be easier. That’s all ‘out the window’ now, as the reality is completely different when it hits you😯 but in saying that, we can only work through it and get to the end in one piece, hopefully a lot healthier & lighter 😉

    Vitamins after surgery

I take spray vitamins. I took them in the ordinary way ( pills & capsules ) before surgery, but decided to change as I always needed a lot of water to get them down🤦‍♀️ I’m very happy I did, I have no problems getting my vitamins into me post surgery now. 😊

I’m same Sue, we’ll get there, I’m sure😊 my hospital co-ordinator called yesterday and said I was doing ok.. just to focus on the fluids getting in just now. It’s very difficult to drink all the fluids but we can only drink what we can, and reach the next stage 🙏 I’m so glad we are so near each other operation wise too, we can compare notes and help each other through. Do you mind me asking what weight you were to make you think of the surgery in the first place? 😊 x

I’m finding that if you do feel problems with swallowing, just step back a bit and rest from the liquids, even for 20 mins, then try again . I feel I’m mixing everything up a lot. I have water and slimfast and drink from each (as in, I don’t finish a glass & start the other!) I then have soup for lunch, that takes me around an hour to drink too! It’s very difficult, I was up till 11 pm last night, trying to get more liquids in🤦‍♀️👍 x

    July 2021 Surgery People!

Hi guys, I’m very new to this and maybe in the wrong area, or maybe not!! You decide? I am part of the July intake but I already had my sleeve surgery on 1st July 2021. I too have trapped air, I’m 5 days in and trying my best to get to the desired levels of liquid but it’s very difficult 😥 I’m wondering if using slimfast is the best idea, as there is 325ml and 15 protein in there. I feel my stomach sore when I drink too fast but am also feeling quite stressed today and don’t know why!

Lying about not getting surgery is awful

I hear what your saying, and with me, it’s not the fact that I don’t want to tell people. This surgery is elective surgery and as such my employer wouldn’t pay me when I was off for this type of operation. I’m not ashamed of having it done, but I have a mortgage & bills to pay. Otherwise, I’d shout it from the rooftops 👍
