Physically your surgery should be healed well enough to eat or drink just about anything in 6 weeks. Virtually every dietary restriction after this point is about nutritional goals not protecting your surgery.
Everyone says something different because our surgeon's programs say different things. Rule of thumb is to follow your surgeon's program. Picking and choosing from different programs effectively means you are no longer on a program, so be careful not to fall into this first trap.
Many of us have had to change our relationship with food. In my family food was a central aspect of celebrations. In fact whenever anything went good we ate to celebrate. When it went bad we ate to commiserate. We ate in joy and sorrow, triumph and tragedy. Learning to deal with these emotions without food or drink was quite a change. This doesn't mean that food or drink can never be a part of these events, just that food or drink does not need to be the focal point.
How you approach this early post-op period will set the foundation for your future with food and drink. We each have different goals and with those come different actions. Make sure your actions are in line with your goals.
    Good luck,
    Tek

beckastev reacted to Esi in Post Op Liquid Diet - Juice Ok?
I was allowed pure juice that had zero added sugar. 100% apple or cranberry juice is a nice change once a day (4-8 oz.) if it helps get in the fluids. However, it sounds like different programs recommend different beverages.

I also struggle with PCOS and never had periods without Provera before surgery. I got my period 3 days post op until day 7 and I spot basically every other day now (I'm 2 weeks postop today) and was told that it was normal so my suggestion is just wear liners every day just in case ):

beckastev got a reaction from Arabesque in Why have I not lost any weight yet?
Yes, I'm a week out and haven't lost any weight either but read on a few threads on here that it was normal due to our bodies still recuperating from the recent change and pain going on and that some people don't notice change for weeks so I wouldn't get too hung up on the number on the scale!! I'm sure we'll both see changes soon!!

I had problems drinking lots in the beginning, but sometime around the 2-3 week post -op point I was suddenly able to chug water again, thank goodness..i love me some water.
This ability had no impact on my weight loss as far as i can tell (lost all i wanted to by 7 months post-op, and then a little bit more in the months afterwards). Solids, however did not go down as quickly…still doesn’t really, to this day at 2.5+ years.
Once you get to solids you will likely feel it.

    Hello
I am 7 days out from a sleeve and feeling well overall. I am able to drink multiple gulps of broth, water and non protein liquid without difficulty at all. I feel a mild sense of fullness after, but that’s it.
I think I have no problem meeting my liquid quota, just a little short on the protein.
I am worried that this ability to drink a lot of liquid at one time means my sleeve is not small enough or that they didn’t take enough and that I won’t be as successful in my journey. Other thoughts include, “does this ability to drinking so much liquid without difficulties mean my sleeve will stretch?”
I am neither hungry nor thirsty. However, there is a deep dry mouth and dry esophagus (I think) feeling that is compelling me to drink/gulp a lot of fluids at once.
Seems silly to ask this. However, I have been a little worried and I am wondering if there is anyone in my boat or anyone that had no problem drinking in the early phase that was successful overall?
    Thanks for reading ??

Hi! I'm 2 days post op and everything is killing me, but at least I don't have reflux so I guess it was just nerves after all haha -
