Help!!!
The Fiber One bars make me feel very uncomfortable after eating one too. I was told by my doc not to eat anything with too much fiber. Because the food sits in your stomach "pouch" right above the band where it's the most sensitive part of all your stomach you will have reactions to some foods you may not have ever had before. SO I tried a lil experiment and ate another Fiber One bar a week later and immediately had a bad reaction! ahaha The Pregresso Soups do the same thing to me as well. And I don't believe those have to do with fiber. But it's something in those soups that gas me up big time!! Sorry if TMI!! Just keep tabs on foods you eat. ;o)

Getting back in the groove after dilated esophagas
Oh I actually just sent you a PM about this....my doctor thinks that I may have the same thing!! There are times where I've eaten passed full. However, if I fix myself a protein shake for example I can only take a few sips before I get that clogged feeling. I guess my question to you is did you feel? I've got to make an appt for my barrium test. Man, I wished I would have done that earlier in the week. If they are not open on Friday then it will have to wait until next week. Wish me luck! And I wish you the best of luck too!!!

Single and struggling...
I can certainly relate as I've discovered I'm an emotional eater. In the past 9 years that I've been divorced I've managed to rack up a good 50-60lbs. I know for a fact that my weight gain was due to being under a lot of stress. Even now, I'm going through a break up....he should be moved out in about 6 wks. Needless to say it's been a difficult past 8 months or so. And I truly believe I haven't been as successful with my LB because of it. HOWEVER, I choose to not let those things affect me any more. I really am ready to do this for me regardless of what's going on with my love life. As I've stated in my profile message...I may not be able to control that but I can control what I put into my mouth! Anyhoos, please people don't give up on the LB. It's always important to remember that it's a "tool" and not the cure. We could easily choose to eat around the band but why?! This is your time to shine now!! SO GO FOR IT!!

I picked up a book titled "Eat This Not That!" It's so very informative. Anyways, there's a section for frozen foods....a few items that made the list are as follows: Lean Cuisine Chicken Marsala w/Green Beans and Carrots 1 pkg = 140 cal, 4 g fat, 14 g protein, and 3 g fiber Gorton's Grilled Fillets/Lemmon Pepper (pair this with grilled veggies) 1 fillet = 100 cal, 3 g fat, 17 g protein, and 0 fiber Smart Ones Salisbury Steak 1 pkg = 200 cal, 7 g fat, 22 g protein, and 4 fiber Kashi Southwest Style Chicken 1 pkg = 240 cal, 5 g fat, 16 g protein, and 6 g fiber Hope it helps...

"No Fill For You!" Because I was a Stupid DooDoo POOPIE HEAD!!!
I agree with what the other posters stated. You did great!! If you can go through 5 wks of pureed food imagine what you can do with more restriction!! Remember, the band is only a tool and not the cure. Therefore, will power is key! Trust me I am an emotional eater so I have horrible will power. But enough about me. I belive you understood correctly. I have a 10cc band. I'm at 7cc's now. But at the time of surgery I was told they had filled my band just a bit...sorry can't recall how much. I have very good restriction now though. Be sure to get in your lean Protein every day. I was told 60-70 grms per day. Chew very well and in small bites. Measure your food out too. And if they offer it attend some of the post-op support groups. GOOD LUCK ON YOUR LB JOURNEY!

anyone have #10 band that hold 4cc?
I believe I have the same as you. Reason being, I know that my band is 10cc's. I asked my doctor (Dr. Felts/Dallas, Texas) TODAY. And I found out that I have 7cc's in my band. I know this because he extracted the saline I had in my band to confirm the amount. I actually have good restriction, it's all about making the right food choices now.

Walking
I appreciate your input very much. I like your idea of walking on an incline. I was told that it makes a difference. I did pick up this months Prevention Magazine. It had a walking program included. I figured that would help me to set some goals. Thank you!

Banded & The Single Life
You make a good point. I guess it would be a matter of need to know only. And on a first date it's not necessary, second or third either. I'm such an open book though. But this I feel is more personal. Besides if he's really interested in me then he won't care about the band.

Banded & The Single Life
Okay, I'm a single of mom of two boys. But I've got the single mom thing down. I've been holding it down at home going on 9 years. My question is about going out on a date and being banded. lol When do you feel is the right time to tell this person you're banded? I have no problem telling my friends or co-workers about my band. But if I were asked out to eat on a first date....it would be rather awkward knowing I wouldn't be able to finish even half the meal. Has anyone ran into this issue? And how did you handle it? Thanks!

Slow Users-Banded a year or more
Oh gad! I'm super slow compared to many of you. lol I've only lost 30lbs since 11/14/07. But I'm not letting that get me down. I'm back and in effect!!

Walking
Has anyone had successful WL with just plain old walking? I've seen a lot of articles about how walking just 30 minutes a day can make a big difference. I got myself a heart rate tracker. I shouldn't go over 188 which is my estimated maximum heart rate. And instead stay with in 135-145 to start...increasing that amount as I get more fit. Also, I was instructed to walk at an incline (I'm using a treadmill). As that would help to minimize my lower body. Last, a new sneaker by Sketcher's "Shape Ups" might help boost my toning efforts as well. Those I haven't tried. There's also a similar sneaker by Reebok they call "Easy Tone". I'm want to alternate walking, weight training and yoga. But start with walking first, then add in the weight training, and later yoga. Anybody interested let me know. We can keep tabs on each other!! And any feedback would also be greatly appreciated!!

number of adjustments to find sweet spot
So then how should one feel? I go for another fill on Tuesday. Right now I can eat way over 1 cup of food per meal. I don't each much if at all bread, rice, Pasta or tortilla's because I do get that stuck feeling. The only Protein I've struggled with is chicken breast because it may just be to dry? Outside of that I can eat plentiful as long as I take small bites and chew well. And I must admit that I'm an emotional eater. So I think that really throws a wrench in my WL efforts. But I don't want that to keep me down. I'm taking baby steps to get the weight off. I just want to do it the best way possible. HELP!

Yoga - hallelujah :)
I've never tried yoga. And I'm actually a bit intimidated by the thought of taking a class. I hear and have read an enormous amount of good things about it. But it seems like you have to have a lot of arm, tummy and leg strength. All of which I do not have much of. How hard is it to get started? Thanks for any feedback!

Best time to work out?
Thank you all for your input. The bit about it being on an empty stomach seems to make sense though. I think otherwise one might start feeling ill.

Best time to work out?
When's the best time to work out? I've heard in the morning on an empty stomach. But then others say it really doesn't matter, JUST DO IT! lol :scared2: :rolleyes2: I may have to agree with the ladder as I'm not a morning person. teehee :scared2:

Greek Yogurt - Gimme the scoop
I'm going to have to look for this one, thanks! :rolleyes2:

Greek Yogurt - Gimme the scoop
I love Greek yogurt! I actually make a sauce with it and dip my chicken breast in it. I find that chicken breast can be a bit dry so it makes it so much easier for me to eat. And it tastes good too, not to mention good for you. I add lemon juice, a little garlic and a little olive oil and pepper, cilantro sometimes and/or even chopped cucumber. It has the consistency of sour cream or slightly thicker. But has little to NO taste so it easily takes on whatever flavors you add to it. I can't say I've had it in place of regular yogurt though. I imagine with some Splenda and cut up fruit like bananas and strawberries it might be pretty good.

No support from husband
My SO was the exact same way. All I can say is be prepared. Be prepared for how he may get after you start to lose weight. And also having your fridge stocked and ready with the sorts of good foods you know you should be eating. Also stay close to your mom and sis, and do stay in touch with other bandsters too. I personally thought that I was strong enough to do this on my own. BIG MISTAKE! Although my success hasn't been a huge one it's something. I love my band! And I wouldn't take any of it back. I wish you much luck in your journey. If this is what you want, and it will make you healthy too then GO FOR IT!

Did you tell others about surgery?
I originally told my fam, best friends and closest co-workers. So in reality I've told most ppl in my circle. But I'm very okay with that. Even though my WL success hasn't been it's best I don't feel bad for having told. I knew going in the risks, side effects and success rate of the band. I certainly do not seek anyone's approval but rather their support. And thankfully everyone has been very supportive. Personally, I don't see a point telling ppl I don't know very well. It's still very personal enough to me not to share it with just anyone. I mean, I wouldn't share with them I"m cramping cause I'm on my monthly, or that Mexican food I had for lunch gave me the runs. ahahaha Sorry for that, but I'm just sayin'....I LOVE MY BAND! And I wouldn't change a thing!

I got a beef with SPLENDA!
That's great for you or anyone who has decided to live a sugar-free lifestyle. But it's not a realistic lifestyle for me. I'll suck it up and use Splenda if that's all I can get! lol :scared2:
-
I got a beef with SPLENDA!
Oh wow! I hadn't thought about that. This is what I'm talking about. That's why I'm questioning even this Cactus Honey Powder. Because unless you read the label you never really know what your getting. The ingredients on the package for it are: Cactus Pure Honey & Maltodextrin.

I got a beef with SPLENDA!
Stevia...I have yet to try it but I will. I like the part about it not messing with your sugar levels. Lord knows I can do with out the highs, lows to crash! lol Thanks! Sandra

I got a beef with SPLENDA!
Frankly, I don't like the taste of it much if at all. I only tolerate it because it's healthier than regular sugar. lol However, I found another sugar substitute called "Cactus Honey Powder". And it leaves no after taste like that of Splenda. Here's an article I found on-line about it:
