  1. My nutritionist recommended something called Sweet Defeat. It is like a mint but makes sweet stuff taste like nothing. I found it helpful when I had a craving. I would have one and if I gave in, there would be no payoff. Because it's like eating cardboard. They helped me immensely. There are some YouTube videos of people trying them. Now I just use them as mints with the added benefit of killing the sweet payoff. Hope it helps. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Abdominal pain 2 weeks out?

I understand about that. I had my sleeve on 5/10. Had pain from 7-9 (on pain scale) from surgery onward. On 5/26, went to ER where I was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis. Admitted to hospital on 5/29 and gallbladder removed on 6/2. Was in ER again today because of post op pain and reflare of pancreatitis (Lipase is over 900, 350 is high range). I talked to my surgeon but finally had to listen to what my body was saying. I'm hopeful that this will reduce sooner rather than later. I'm not saying you have the exact same issue, but pain is a signal. If I moved, it hurt. If I sneezed, oh god - bad. Coughing - no. Water on stomach when showering - F. Listen to your body, annoy your surgeon and keep asking questions. I hope you feel better and the pain subsides. J Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Postop puréed diet ideas?

My nutritionist suggested pureed chili. So I got a can of Dennison's Turkey Chili w beans and blendedit up. Also pureed cauliflower with some salt and prp. Tastes like runny mashed potatoes. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    scared

I have a reconstructed ankle, bum hips, and L2-S1 disc issues. My nutritionist gave me a link for heavyweight yoga. It might be a start. Gentle on the body and a good way to get some movement in. I like it and it helps the constant pain in my joints. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  5. I've been listening to the Weight Loss Surgery podcast and Lisa Lampanelli's Get Stuffed. She is one of my fave comics and she had a sleeve in 2014-15. They both cover these topics in episodes. I find most people are afraid of change, but to quote my favorite business book -Sacred Cows Make the Best Burgers. Best of luck to you! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  6. So I haven't had surgery yet (5/10) but I have been having some anxiety and worry about the upcoming procedure. My therapist suggested I create a "worry/anxiety time). So each day I have a specific time to explore those thoughts, journal them and confront them. If I have the thoughts outside of my scheduled time, I tell myself "nope, can't deal with that now, have to wait until...". More often than not, it calms me in the moment and I usually forget what was making me anxious. She also told me I should keep separate journals for separate feelings. So my FIL passed away last week and I have a lot of feelings and worry about that which is a completely separate issue from my anxiousness about surgery. It's like compartmentalizing each item. I don't know if those will help, but it was some suggestions I got from my therapist. Hope they help. Jennifer Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    May 2021 VSG surgeries?

Right? It's so stupid because what they pay per year in epidurals/botox for pain management (migraines and back, hip, knee) is equal too or greater than the cost of the VSG. So dumb. But I am glad to have a date. Ready doesn't even begin to describe it. I was able to find all of my materials from 2017. Also, I actually incorporated the iMetabolic protein shakes into my diet and have for four years now and I like them. J Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    May 2021 VSG surgeries?

Hi, I'm new here and I am scheduled for 05/10. I live in Northern Nevada and will have the procedure here. I am excited but I do agree it is more real now that it is scheduled. I was actually scheduled for 05/24/2017, but the day before, while I was at the hospital doing pre-op, the insurance calledy dr and denied the surgery. To say I was devastated is an understatement. I decided then to self pay and have been saving for four years. Now, I am ready. I have been prepping by walking 30-35 minutes for day, working on eating better, talking with my therapist on TalkSpace, and reading, reading, reading. I am 5'4" and weigh 230. I am having the occasional anxious thought but tell myself that this is what I want, will have less pain (back, hips, knees, and ankles), feel better and be healthier. I am also working with my therapist to manage these anxious moments. Jennifer Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
