betterme2021 got a reaction from kbrooks in February 2021 bypassers?Hang in there kbrooks you aren't alone in this! When I hit a stall or a slow down I think about 4 things 1. I didn't get into the position I WAS in overnight it took time - years - What makes me think I can reverse it overnight? This is a marathon not a sprint. 2. Have I fallen into a rut with what I'm eating maybe I need to try some new foods? 3. (And this one is the hardest for me) Am I active enough? Especially with having to be cooped up in our homes away from friends and family it's easy, for me anyway, to not want to get moving but I have a purpose to do it and that helps. 4. Don't step on the scale everyday it can be very frustrating when you know you are doing everything you are supposed to be doing and your body isn't for whatever reason reacting the way you think it should. The body is a complex machine and it knows what it's supposed to do. As long as you aren't putting the weight back on you do your part and let the machine do it's work. I used to go Weight Watchers and they had a new coach one day and I had been struggling for a few weeks of not losing and even gaining and at weigh in she looked at me and said "don't worry when you are ready to work at it you will start losing again" I thought to myself what kind of coach are you? You don't know anything about me what I'm doing, or not doing if I have some sort of struggle happening in my life. Needless to say that was my last WW meeting.

betterme2021 reacted to Tim C in No Support SystemThis group is your support system and will keep you in check if you mess up. No worries...you have got this! Spend as much time on here as you can and vent, ask questions, talk...whatever you need to do. Good Luck!

betterme2021 reacted to Recidivist in No Support SystemMy only close family member (my sister) was completely unsupportive, and it actually seemed that she hoped I would fail. (I haven't.) I did have a spouse and a couple of close friends who were quite supportive, and I could rely on them when things got tough. However, they didn't really understand what I was going through (or even why I wanted surgery in the first place).
I can tell you that this forum was an incredibly valuable source of support for me, both before and after my surgery. If you post here often, you will find a number of people who reply regularly and whose advice you can trust. As BetterMe said, don't worry about what others think. You know that you are doing this for yourself so that you can be healthy and not burdened by obesity in your daily life. Keep your eyes on the prize!

betterme2021 got a reaction from ThisMomOf5 in February 2021 bypassers?Hi everybody when I was in the full liquid stage I was drinking Boost High Protein (I like to mix half chocolate and half strawberry) and Boost also make a Mobility shake which I think probably helped with my knee pain. Aren't you allowed yogurt and V8 juice at this stage? If you are try mixing 2oz beef broth and 2oz of V8 and warm it up a little in the microwave it tastes like tomato soup! I started the puree stage today and let me tell you it's worth the wait! I had a scrambled egg this morning and I felt like I was robbing a bank! An egg, who would have thought? It felt so good to chew something other than a vitamin. So hang in there you guys are right around the corner from hitting a good spot!!!

betterme2021 got a reaction from Hop_Scotch in No Support SystemShannon, I'm so sorry to hear that you don't have a support team. Are there Bariatric Support Groups through your hospital? I would look there, you could find others that are in the same position you are in and also people that have had the surgery already. First and foremost though you have to remember that you are doing this for you, to make yourself healthier, and it really doesn't matter what everyone else thinks. None of them have offered to pay for it have they? It's your money spend it how you want! Just kidding. But seriously, it is your life and you have to live it for you and if this is what you want in your heart then follow your heart no one can take that from you. Hang in there you will do great!

betterme2021 got a reaction from GreenTealael in Skin questionHi Everybody! Had my surgery on 2/22/21 everything went beautifully I was up and walking around and on liquids a few hours after. The hospital staff was fantastic! I'm feeling pretty good 6 days later except I have a burning sensation on my skin not the actual incisions but but between two of them feels like a sunburn and isn't constant. Has anybody else experienced this? I go for my follow up on Tuesday 3/2 so I will ask my doctor about it. Keep up the great work!!!

betterme2021 reacted to Orig Ironman in February 2021 bypassers?Betterment 2021, welcome. I did not have any pain in my stomach after changing the diet, but I did have quite a bit of noises gurgle and the big D. I lost 15 on the preop diet which was a very nice surprise. It definitely put me in a good mood and more excited for the surgery.
