Hey everyone i finally got my surgery date on 04/29. I have to do pre admission test on 04/05. Do a virtual pre op nutrition class on 04/08. On 04/14 physical and other tests. Last on 04/20 sign consents. Im so excited. I think about the good aspects of gastric bypass to keep me focused.

I see that everyone process is different which is a trip. I already did UGI, psychological evaluation, nutrition visit, nutrition consult, letter of support, met with surgeon,got approved for surgery through insurance. So im like next....lol

I dont know whats the hold up, but im patiently waiting for my next appointment. which im assuming it will be pre op stuff based on what i have been reading. How long did it take u guys to get surgery date and pre op appointment after approval or what is next in the process?

I was having gastric sleeve but after doing my research. I found out that the bypass would benefit me better considering my condition. I talked to surgeon who also advised me gastric bypass would be more beneficial.

So i guessed i worried 4 nuthin. I got my pre approval letter to day in the mail. Which is good considering i met with surgeon on 03/02 . Plus the fact he had to send documents for gastric bypass being medically necessary. Now i guess ill find out wats next. Im so excited!!!

Thank u for informing of what happened to you and I will try to look at it lik that. But im feeling lik if they dont approve then give me back money. i paid out of my pocket thus far to get surgery for requirements.

Wow I was feeling excited about the smooth sailing way the process has been so far...until I get home from work and go through mail. So I received a letter from Cigna stating they need more information, to determine if surgery is medically necessary. Should I be worried? I mean I do have a bmi if 45 and pcos. Has thus happened to anyone?...if so did you finally get approved?

I definitely can say i have reading so much on gastric sleeve and bypass. I started out wanting to do sleeve. But after so much research. I learned that bypass would benefit me better.

I finally met Dr. Carmody my surgeon. He was pretty cool. But I felt like it was pointless. Lol

Hey I have Cigna but unfortunately I havnt gotten that far. I meet with my surgeon on march 2. So how long did it take for your approval and how long did it take for you 2 get a surgery date?

Well people going to think what they want to think anyway. But I told my family I am having gastric sleeve surgery because Im doing what is best for me to survive. Either be supportive or dont say nothing at all.

Hello everyone. Im in the process of getting approved for gastric sleeve. On 02/16/2021 I complete my nutrition class. I was told I was only required to complete 1 class. So once I complete the class I will be done with everything for pre approval. However, I heard I will have to do a supervised diet. So when does this start and can i get an early start on it? I have Cigna so how long do they require you to do the supervised diet? I heard it can be anywhere from 3 months to a year.
