MD, VA or DC Doctor Recommendation
Hi, My doctor is Dr Singh at St Agnes Hospital. I think he's awesome and his staff is very knowledgable and friendly. His front desk lady Mary is so nice and his nurse Cathy (who had gastric bypass) is full of great information and calls right back when you have a question. In the hospital my nurse had a lap-band and was so helpful and encouraging. Good luck to you. Sherry

GOOD PROTEINS that appeal to us.....
I love Syntrax Nectar Sweets in chocolate truffle. It's a powder. My favorite way to drink it is to mix it with a little cold skim milk (to get it dissolved with no lumps) and then add warm skim milk (from the microwave) and it makes a yummy hot chocolate drink with tons of protein. Last night I blended the powder with a little milk, ice and 2Tbsp peanut butter and it made a yummy shake. Right after surgery I liked Labrada Lean Body ready to drink in Strawberry and Vanilla. I ordered them both at vitaminshoppe.com but I bet GNC would have them. Good Luck, Sherry

Banded Yesterday - This hurts!
Trace, I have not had that problem but have not tried purees yet. I bet fruits would go right through you. I don't know how other stuff would do. I'm planning on eating ricotta with spaghetti sauce and a little mozzarela melted in the microwave, fat-free canned refried beans with low fat cheese and low fat sour cream, cottage cheese, scrambled eggs, egg salad and tuna made very soft with light mayo. (not all at the same time and all of these things are approved by my dietician) Can you tell I'm obsessed and ready to move on from liquids?:tongue_smilie: Sherry

Protein shakes - GAG, YUCK, PUKE, EEEEKKKK
I went on Bariatriceating.com and ordered their protein sample pack. They give you a ton of samples to try so you don't spend money on what you don't like. Just wanted to let you all know in case it was helpful Sherry

Mushie advice???
I am not to the mushie phase yet but I can't wait. I've been researching and reading everything I can get my hands on. People on another board rec'd putting some ricotta in a dish then some tomato sauce and top with a little parmesan and mozzarella. Warm it in the microwave and you have lasagna with no noodles. I'm also looking forward to some refried beans with a little low fat cheese and maybe a dash of the liquid from salsa heated in the microwave. My dietician said I could make egg salad to eat and tuna if I used a lot of light mayo to make it smoother but follow what your Dr or dietician says. Good Luck.

Cute Story
I had a very cute thing happen yesterday and wanted to share. When I went in for surgery we wanted my 3 children to be very careful with me when I got home so we explained to them that they would have to be careful. While we were at the hospital my 14 year old heard my 8 year old tell my 3 year old that we have to be gentle with mommy because she's gonna have "scratches" on her belly. My 3 year old has been very interested in looking at my "scratches" so I show her when she asks. Yesterday I noticed everytime my 3 year old hugged or even touched me she would pull up her shirt and look at her belly. I finally realized what she was doing and asked "Are you worried your going to get my "scratches" if you touch me?" She said yes. Poor little thing. Of course I explained she couldn't get my sratches and gave her a big hug. Gotta love kids. They're so cute.:lunch:

Protein shakes - GAG, YUCK, PUKE, EEEEKKKK
You should try Syntrax Nectar Sweets in chocolate truffle. I like it cold and warm. To make it warm you have to mix it with a little cold milk or water and then add the warm milk or water to it. I learned some tricks from the ladies at bariatriceating.com. I also love Labrada RTD Lean Body in Vanilla and Strawberry. I purchased mine from vitaminshoppe.com because it was cheaper and they had free shipping at the time. Also try not to smell your protein drinks before you drink them. They all smell really nasty to me. Good luck to you. Sherry:smile:

Banded Yesterday - This hurts!
I'm feeling a little better today. I also had scar tissue from previous surgeries that my doctor had to get rid of so I'm assuming that's causing more pain than usual but sleeping was definately better last night. Trace sorry to hear you were having such a tough time. I'm glad the new meds are working.

I'm Mad!!
I'm sorry your sister is being so mean. Maybe she's jealous that you have a good husband and are able to be a stay at home mom and take such great care of your mom. She may just not know how to handle her own emotions. I chimed in because I have a son recently diagnosed with ADHD. He was diagnosed the middle of last school year (second grade) and it took some trial and error with medication to get the right med and dose. His report card at the end of the year was totally different from the beginning of the year and it made me feel like I made the right decision. It's so hard to decide on medicating your child but when you talk to other parents who have gone through the same thing and you see your child so happy to be improving and doing well, you know you did the right thing. I can't wait to have lap band surgery and like you won't tell many people because people are rude and judgemental. I hope things go better for you and that your sister stops being so mean. Please also know it probably means the world to your mother that you take such time and energy to care for her. Hugs, Sherry

Maryland doctors
Hi everyone. My name is Sherry. I'm beginning to research having lap band surgery. I'm currently hovering near 300 pounds. I just received information in the mail (with our new cards for the year) that says my insurance will cover weight loss surgery. What surgeons are the best in Maryland? What hospital do you recommend in Maryland? Thanks
