Drinking fluids
I was just wondering how long until you where able to actually drink water properly? I feel like I am still just sipping at my water all day and having a hard time getting what I need in. Would love to be able to chug a full glass of water again so I can be sure I am having enough in a day. At the same time, nervous to push it and end up sick again.

Yum!! I love chaffles but with only a Belgium waffle maker, they don't look as pretty. Which recipe did you use?

Favorite Grocery Products
The costco locations in Kitchener and Waterloo just got a few new diet friendly options that I hadn't seen before. Fingers crossed for you. I always look for the US suggested stuff and am bummed when it isn't here, so I was excited

1 month post-op, kinda skimpy WL
When I spoke to my team, they said they expect about 2lbs a week and anything extra is a bonus. I was surprised that that is the goal even right after surgery!

Gastric Bypass and Gall bladder removal simultaneously
Sorry to hear you had so many issues right off the bat. I also had a RNY and gallbladder removal at the same time but I had mine Dec 17th so I am barely ahead of you. I have had no issues with the gallbladder removal. What specifically are you looking for answers on? The affect of also having no gallbladder on diet down the road, affect on weight loss, etc?

Does anyone get chronic stomach pain?
The dumping is brutal, but I agree with catwoman7... Only a minority of people get it. I dealt with it extremely badly twice (in one month), but if I am very careful about what I eat, its not a problem. If you do get it, work on finding your triggers and avoid them. I got RNY because of GERD and it is amazing not to have to deal with it anymore. Random stomach pain I get is usually always solved with extra fiber or gas relief. I have noticed that what I would consider constipated before is different than now, (TMI sorry) if I don't have a bowel movement at least once daily I get abdominal pain from it. Weird yes, but that's the new normal.

First Post-Surgery "Learning Experience"
That's awful! Hope you both are feeling better. The first day I was allowed solids, I ended up in the ER with dumping syndrome. The worst part was needing to throw up and not being able to, so not getting any relief. I felt bruised for almost a week afterwards from all the heaving. Definitely chew better, slower and watch for the first twinges of discomfort now! Hopefully it is a lesson we only need to learn once!

Sirloin Steak 4oz (ate 1oz) Loaded Bacon Potatoes 1.5 oz + 1tbsp Sour Cream (ate .5oz of potatoes and most of the sour cream) Black Truffle, Parm Green Beans 2oz (ate 1oz) Everything tasted amazing, but I was shocked at how crazy filling beef was.

Any December surgery
Dumping syndrome is the best guess. Stuck on the toilet and dry heaving for hours on end before calling the ambulance because of it, dizziness and chest pain. Took them 3 rounds of injected anti-nausea meds and 2 rounds of morphine to get the pain under control. If I never have to deal with that again, it will be too soon.

weight gain and Water intake?
I can't do shakes either. They make me sick so my dietician and nurse told me yesterday that I can quit them. I am only week 3 so I was shocked. However, they told me I needed to drink 500mL Fairlife high protein milk daily instead. Have you spoken to your NUT about it? If you can stomach the milk, I would definitely up that to help fluids too. It's hard!! But my dietician said if I am getting minimum 1.5L of fluids a day, that is a great start and just keep trying to outdo my previous day by a bit every day. Also, I can not get in my fluids if there isn't ice in it. Have you tried different temperatures? Room temp, ice cold, heated up (herbal or decaf tea). I never could handle ice prior to surgery, so it is weird but things change.

weight gain and Water intake?
Are you still having shakes or drinking high protein milk? Those liquids count towards your fluid intake as well. I was also told that SF jello counted towards fluid intake because it turns to fluid in your stomach. Total fluids, what are you hitting?

Stomach bloated
I am only just over two weeks out but I bloat over everything it seems. SF jello and water no. But a bit of juice, protein shakes, dairy, they all cause bloating. Fun times. I was like that prior to surgery too, but not as bad.

Protein and Starting Soft Foods
I am thinking it was venison. It was 1oz of meat and it was cooked in a way that was very moist. I thought it would be ok, but I definitely won't be trying that again. As it is, the surgeon has told me to go back onto clear fluids until they can talk to me or see me in person next week. I live over an hour away so the ambulance wouldn't take me back to that hospital last night. Couldn't believe how little the local ER knew about gastric bypass! They where great but I had to remind them of a lot of things such as no NSAID's, not throwing up acid because that part of my stomach wasn't attached to my esophagus, etc. I thought I was being very careful too but that was too heavy/rich I guess. 24 hours later, I am still feeling brutal but not in immense pain so I think it is just my muscles still hurting from the dry heaving. I haven't heard of Ufit. I am in Canada and a lot of the shakes I can't find here either. But, I will definitely look for that one. Iced Latte doesn't sound horribly sweet. Thanks

Protein and Starting Soft Foods
Got my protein from food sources yesterday! Was so excited, until I wound up in the ER all night dehydrated from dumping syndrome. They still haven't let me out, but hopefully I am out today. Back to the shakes for a few days I think. Now I am scared to try solids again.
