  1. Ok, so now that I think we have a name for oursleves, how do we get the sparkley words on our signatures? One website is sparklee.com, but I for the life of me can't figure out how to make it into the signature. I can't even get my ticker to work...so if anyone knows how to do that and can share with everyone we can all have August All Stars on our signatures.
  2. Thats a good one too, but I think I am leaning toward August All Stars!! We could make a really pretty banner with that, stars and sparkley (if thats even a word)
  3. Vegas Girl suggested August All-Stars, thats good too!! Any other suggestions anyone? How about: August Slimmers
  4. I just realized I didn't tell you how long they lasted...I had them for about 3 weeks, but 3 weeks on your face is A LONG TIME!! Also you asked what caused them, they are the same virus as chicken pox!!
  5. Mandy, I had shingles last summer...on my face and head!! Talk about painful. I totally 100% agree with Harley Girl get on Acyclovir NOW!! Also for the ugly soars I recommend Abreva it will help not with the pain but so it doesn't look so bad. As for pain, the only that helped me was Vicodin. I hope that yours are not as bad as mine. I am just telling you like it was for me, but I seriously went crazy with the pain for about 2 days. Good luck!
  6. Lana, I just got my date today for August 11th!! I am in San Diego CA. If you could add me to the list I would love to be apart of the group. Thanks
  7. I just got my date!!! August 11th for me! I can't believe it!!
  8. Anna, Thanks for posting your information. It is great to hear about success stories that are over a year or two. I have lived in Victoria. For about 1 year I went to school in Turok and lived in St. Kilda. What a beautiful place to live, I hope to visit sometime again. I currently am living outside of San Diego Ca. Again thanks for posting your success story.
  9. Tracy, maybe you should just ask about a preop diet. The shrinking of the liver is because the liver sits ontop of the stomach and it can make it difficult to put the band in place if there is not alot of room to work. I am hoping to be banded in early August but just waiting on all the test results to get into the surgeons office. Can't wait to be looking and feeling better. I feel like sponge bob square pants!!!
  10. I also thought about not telling people, but like Cutie I am an open book too. But I have not told my husbands family and won't until someone asks me why I am half the person I used to be :biggrin2: I was shocked yesterday though when my husband told me that has told some of his friends. I don't really care who knows but deep down I kind of thought that he was just supporting me because he knew there was nothing he could do about it. Well one of his very good friends must weight about 450 and he told him to give him some motivation to look into it. So first of all you never really know how people are going to react, and I think that for alot of us we are going to run into jealousy...people get used to you (me) being a certain way and when you change that they get freaked out. You (me) can no longer be put in the "fat" catagory, so where do you belong? Human nature is weird. Just keep going and do it for you and nothing else. The people who are meant to be in your life will still be there supporting you when all is said and done.:smile2:
  11. Bunkey I am sorry if I offended you. I was joking about the hotdog cart. I am sure that the facilities that you went to were great, I know alot of people who have had surgery in Mexico. However, Mexico is a third world country and there are alot of doctors here that won't adjust bands that were obtained in Mexico. Having said that, I realize that there are some who will and do. Again I did not mean to offend you, so I am sorry.
  12. What is protien water? I have never heard of that, well maybe I have but I didn't know it. I will get my band hopefully the first week of August, all these little tricks are good to know.
  13. Wow, you have lost so much weight in such a short time!! Doesn't that feel awesome?! I know what you mean about Mexico, not only are the rules different there, most US doctors won't do adjustments or anything if you have had a band done there. With so many insurance compaines approving the wls and doctors willing to make payment plans it just seems too risky to me to go to Mexico and have surgery. I mean, think about it this way, would you go there and eat a hotdog from a cart in TJ? Probably not, then why have surgery there?:tt2:
  14. This whole thing has been sureal for me too. It still is and probably will be until its over. I just keep taking it one step at a time and then when I look back I am kinda like, Wow, I can't believe I have come this far. Its good, I am really excited. The start of a thinner life, wearing a bathing suit and not worrying about it
  15. Stephanie, have you been to a seminar yet? They are really good and answer alot questions you don't even think about. My first appointment was really fast, kind of a meet and great to learn about the surgery and find out what the doctor needed me to do so I could get it done. I am almost there, next week I should find out if the surgery is approved and get my date. I hope:biggrin2:
  16. JWRN, I hope you will seriously consider moving out...I don't want to sound rude and I am sure your husband is not as as he amy seem, but it sounds like you should live somewhere else and your husband and mother stay where they are.
  17. Okay so must of what is written here has been said to all of us...but I have got a good one. This was probably about 20 years ago but it sticks with me and I think about it all the time, I was told that I look like...think about a person who is fat, that is also ugly...okay you got someone in mind...well this is worse!!! I was told that I looked like Rosanne Barr!! I am telling you that has stuck with me forever, but soon I won't be looking like her any more.
  18. By the way...not to point out the obvious, but Elizabeth your only 19...how much could you be drinking anyway? Not that we all haven't had a drink prior to 21, but just be mindful of what you are putting in your mouth, you may also discover that since you are eating less, much less, that the tolerance you had is now gone. 1 drink may be enough to get you drunk. So be careful
  19. I am so excited I could just explode!! I had my preop stuff done today, the EKG, chest xray and bloodwork and some how managed to get an appointment for the psych exam for tomorrow!! I usually have the worst luck, but for whatever reason the universe is on my side for once and I seem to be moving through the process fairly easily....I only hope that the rest goes as well. I hope that all of you have or have had an equally good experience.
  20. Well Bunkey, I wouldn't say I am lazy, but I don't do as much as I should. My exercise consists more of cleaning house...I have a beagle so I should take him out everyday, he would love it and it would be good for me too. Finding the time some days is tough. You know I am not worried about the food thing, we eat pretty good around my house, my husband won't eat meat if it has been frozed and that includes fish so everything is fresh. My family is Italian so we eat alot of fresh veggies and fruit, its not all Pasta like people think !! I know what you mean about the scale, when loosing weight is all you can think about its hard not to weigh yourself every 10 minutes, but its better if you just do it once a week. Way to go on your loss I can't wait!!
  21. Funny, I was thinking that very same thing today. Should I have a last meal or not, I probably will have a big plate of spaghetti, being Italian I will miss pasta, even though I have already cut it out and haven't had any for about 6 weeks...my grandmother probably just turned in her grave!!!
  22. Wow 25 pounds in about 2 months!!! That is amazing and just think this time it will stay off!!! Way to go...
  23. Kiesha, You really should have someone there. I have not been banded yet but a friend has and from what I understand you won't be able to drive or get off the couch with out help. Plus, God forbid, what if something happened? Please reconsider telling someone, there must be at least 1 trusted friend who can help you? If you lived by me, I would come and stay with you!!
  24. Marathinner, I have to tell you that I have been reading your posts and you are truely an insperation to me!!! Reading how well you did kind of spurned me on to make my decision!! I also have a business aquantance that went to Mueller, but she didn't like his personality much, thought he was a good surgeon but that he was a bit full of himself. Thats fine with me, I like him alot. When you had your band put in, was it outpatient? How long did he keep you there?
