CWeaver60 got a reaction from jennlynn69 in On the FenceI am a newbie. Gastric sleeve on 10/28. I struggled with being committed to my decision to have surgery a few times BUT I am so very glad I went through with it. My experience thus far has been amazing. It is very hard when you read of other people who had complications or struggled in so many ways post op. That will definitely influence your thoughts regarding the unknown outcome. I can honestly tell you I had absolutely zero problems. I live alone and was perfectly fine post-op. Eating according to plan has not been an issue. In regards to sticking with the requirements of the plan, I find that your body will do it for you. You can't overeat (in my experience) as it will make you far too uncomfortable. It becomes a habit to take smaller bites and to chew your food thoroughly. I wish you the best.

CWeaver60 got a reaction from Digidoll in Gastric bypass- 12/11/20Congratulations on your surgery date! That's awesome. My gastric sleeve surgery was on 10/28. I was so worried about multiple things I read that other people experienced I almost changed my mind. I am so glad I didn't. I was in the hospital for 2 nights. The only tough time I had was immediately after surgery when waking up. Extreme nausea which they dealt with very, very quickly. I didn't have gas pains or problems with swallowing. I can't say enough positive things about my experience thus far. I'm really, really grateful. I 1000% agree with not weighing yourself after surgery. My weight was higher and I didn't begin to show a loss for about a week or so. That can be a tad discouraging. In summary, stay focused on why you have made this decision and know that everyone's experience is different. Blessings to you on your journey!

CWeaver60 got a reaction from Shalaura1 in Solo post-op recommendations (living alone)Hello ladies! I am also flying solo...? I had gastric sleeve surgery on 10/28/2020. I have experienced zero problems. I had friends and family to call to check if I needed anything but I didn't. Very grateful. I had plenty of broth, protein shakes, sugar free jello and popsicles available here at home. I don't know if my surgeon is a magician or not but I promise you...I had no pain. Little bit of tenderness but nothing that warranted pain meds. Sending you both much support and encouragement!

CWeaver60 reacted to bufbills in On the FenceYou said a mouthful. I had surgery yesterday and I was terrified because of what I've read. I have a little discomfort, but overall I feel pretty good.

CWeaver60 reacted to BayougirlMrsS in Confessing my Sins...you guys are so awsome.... through out the years and all my ups and downs.... you guys have been here. This site has always been my secret comfort place. Yesterday was better.... until someone brought the devil in the office, cotton candy.... Hell's bells. But I did good not great, but good. Weight is still down that pound i lost over the weekend..... I call it my floating pound.
@JAKE H the book is on the way along with the Ego one.... I have a kindle, but i love feeling a book in my hands and smelling the pages.... Thanks for the suggestion
@Arabesque still looking for a therapist, counselor or "life coach"... except for the times i had evals for WLS i only had one session with a marriage counselor during my divorce. So i'm really not sure what to expect. Tim said i needed to give it time and that it won't happen in two visits.... I just hated the long silent pauses followed by.... And how does that make you feel?..... gezzz is that the only question you know..... Never mind the fact that she had a brand new bottle of Mt. Dew sitting on her desk and you all know i gave up the dew a year and a half ago.... Throughout the years... i could never give it up... it was my one vice.... and there it was... taunting me, on her desk, water beads rolling down the bottle...... like a crake pipe to a crackhead.
Keep the thought coming... you all are my saving grace.

CWeaver60 reacted to JAKE H in Confessing my Sins...Ive 100% been there. i got put onto some self help books. CWeaver60 reacted to VickieRenee in Confessing my Sins...First of all ((hugs)). You are completely normal and only confessing to being human - like you said today is a new day. I have been in a similar situation and trust me I get feeling like the weight of the world is on my shoulders and that even understanding and loving friends and spouses don't always feel like a safe space to unburden our worries. That said, I encourage you to keep looking for a therapist - they aren't all the right fit. I went through about 3 a couple years ago until I found the right person for me. Think of it as 'dating'... I don't have a life coach, but a career coach who thinks he's my life coach lol. Ultimately what helped me is to realize that I sometimes need a break and that it isn't selfish to recharge my batteries or put my oxygen on mask first as you say.
And if all else fails, we are always here. Feel free to PM me (if there is such a thing on here) and I'm happy to share my number and personal story or just be an ear. Hang in there - you are not alone.

CWeaver60 reacted to catwoman7 in On the Fencere: excess skin. Until the pandemic started, I worked with the pre-op groups at my clinic. Did this for about four years - at least 12 groups a year. Almost all of them are freaked out about the loose skin. I, also, obsessed about loose skin when I was a pre-op and early post-op. I can tell you now that most of us who are out a ways wonder why we wasted even one brain cell worrying about it. In the grand scheme of things, it's really a minor issue. I would take loose skin any day over weighing almost 400 lbs again. ANY FREAKING DAY!!!
for most of us, it's easy to hide in clothes. I eventually had my excess skin removed, but I'm sure I was the only one who ever noticed it. Here's a picture of me BEFORE I had skin removal surgery. Do you see any loose skin? Nope. I tucked my stomach into my pants, wore longish, slightly oversized tops, and wore 3/4 length (or longer) sleeves. Ta da! Loose skin gone!

CWeaver60 reacted to kellym1220 in On the FenceHow old are you? I know when I was in my 30's, I was not skinny, but not fat. As I got older (I'm 57 now) it seemed like each year another 5 or 10 pounds was "acceptable, but not ideal" I found myself saying "I felt good at 210, if I could just get there!" and then "I was always happy under 230, let me try to get there"...and then I realized I'm going to be at 300 pounds in 3 more years at this rate and decided I needed to do something! I wish I had done it earlier, but who knows? If you are not committed to changing your lifestyle, you might go through this and end up back where you are. Or, you could decide you want to change your life anyway and do it without surgery. I am only 3.5 months out, so I hope I can commit and feel great forever, but at 50 pounds down, I'm committing now!
Also, I have been able to eat out, hang out with friends and still lose weight...I just order an appetizer and take half of it home and have one drink when I would have had several before (PS. I'm saving money, too!)
Good luck on your decision.

CWeaver60 reacted to TrueNorth1 in Solo post-op recommendations (living alone)That's great! 5 pounds a week? I'll take it! We are not far off - I anticipate my weigh in on Thursday will be 185-187. And I am 5'4 and a bit. Hoping to be at my goal of 125 in 6-7 months (hello summer:). But quite honestly, once I reach 160 I will be super happy! The rest will be the icing on the cake!

CWeaver60 reacted to Arabesque in Solo post-op recommendations (living alone)I did it alone no trouble. Though this was before covid, you should be fine. I just made sure I was stocked with everything I needed: shakes, broths, over the counter meds, etc. so I didn’t need to go out or have anyone pick up things for me. I went out early in week 3 to get some yoghurt, milk, ricotta, etc. which had to be bought fresh. But I was in & out of the store pretty quickly. I had to lie down when I got home though. Ha!
I was happy to be alone. I could just potter around doing things at my pace, eat when I wanted, rest when I wanted. No one else to worry about.
Good luck with your surgery.

CWeaver60 reacted to TrueNorth1 in Solo post-op recommendations (living alone)Wow! That is amazing! I am having the lap band removed and then having the mini gastric bypass. I am running with your support and encouragement!
2 weeks in - how much have you lost already?
I am going to make a daily journal of what I felt and how much I lost to help others!
