    Anyone from the Maryville/Knoxville Area?

I lve in Maryvile and I had lap band surgery done by Dr. Boyce in Knoxville on April 14 of this year. I am extremely happy. I seem to have been lucky that I have had absolutely no "major" problems and very few minor ones. I chose Dr. Boyce because I did not care for the treatment I received by the staff at a local doctor here in Maryville when I was first considering surgery. Dr. Boyce and his staff have been wonderful. He is very gentle and concerned that you are a "happy" patient.

    severe bruising...

No, problem. I had that huge bruise also. I asked my doctor and he said it was where they had used something (I can't remember the terminology) to hold that part of my tummy in place. It will go away.
  3. I attended a seminar in Maryville, TN which was presented by Dr. Colquitt. I was so excited; I filled out all the paperwork and went in for my first appointment today. I waited 50 minutes. I asked the "nurse" how much longer it would be and she said I better get used to waiting because we were in a surgeon's office and that's the way it would always be. I left. I told her Dr. Colquitt had just lost a patient. I feel that I have to have someone with whom I feel comfortable and someone that I can rely on to be there for me. I would not look foward to working with someone who thought it was the norm to have patients wait for almost an hour to see him. Any suggestions?...any doctors in Knoxville, TN you would recommend?

    Not a good start!

Hi, Thanks for your reply. I did see Dr. Colquitt in the office while I was waiting in the waiting room. I was not only disappointed with the wait but also with the reply from the nurse. (P.S. I am originally from Bogalusa, LA!)
  7. I was a flight attendant for 22 years and had to "retire" early because of my weight. I wish I could say you will be treated courteously by the airlines - but I doubt it. I would call your airline and ask to speak to a supervisor. I would explain my dilema and ask for their advice. I know that, insofar as seat belts, you can ask for two extensions which should help. But the seats are NARROW and the bathrooms are SMALL. If you can take a night flight it might help. Maybe the flight wouldn't be crowded and you could use two seats. And, if you find a nice flight attendant (The weight restrictions have been declared illegal so you might find an "overweight" flight attendant) she/he might help you with the bathroom situation by blocking the door open for you and providing privacy. The airlines definitely do not cater to people who are not thin. Even when I was 5'4" and 140 pounds I had a problem fitting in the coach seats. Good luck! Make up your mind you ARE going to Hawaii. If you have never been it's well worth the effort!!!!
