  1. I broke down and got this scale. It being less than 20 bucks with the coupon they had on there really helped! Thanks for the suggestion!
  2. How do you find that info, out of curiosity?
  3. I'm in my late 40s, but just wanted to welcome you [emoji4]
  4. Thanks, everyone who responded so far. I'm still on the fence about the scale. I kinda like Lynnlovesthebeach's approach of weighing daily, but only recording once a week. This is somewhat similar to what I did the last time I attempted to lose weight (2015-16), except I only weighed once a week, at a friend's house, so it was the same scale each time. Maybe I'll ask for a scale for my birthday, which is shortly before my surgery date.
  5. I don't currently own a scale (body, not food. I do have a food scale). Would you really advise getting one, or do you think I can get by (at least until I'm closer to goal/maintenance) without, and just get weighed at follow up appointments?
  6. Not sure what you're asking... Is the Bariatric Pal app safe? I'd guess so...? Depends on what you mean by "safe." If you don't want to use the app on your phone, you can always use the website instead. ?
  7. I'm an extreme introvert, and actually prefer to do stuff like this alone. I won't have to feel like I need to keep someone else... entertained isn't quite the right word, but, yeah. I'll likely sleep a lot, or do my color by numbers app on my tablet [emoji4] If you're more of an extrovert, I guess make sure you bring something to chat with friends on, or engage the hospital staff in conversation. They're there to care for you [emoji3531]
  8. Who do you have the same date as? Welcome to the forum, and it IS exciting, isn't it? [emoji4]
  9. Hi, fellow November sleevers... Was just wondering what all of your pre-op diets look like. Mine is 10 days, and thankfully has some food... Not nearly enough [emoji1787] but some is better than none, I guess. I start on the 24th, I think, and have told those who know what I'm doing (I'm keeping it somewhat on the down low for various reasons) that I may not be the most pleasant person to be around. [emoji16]
  10. Interesting... Have never heard of this one. Hope it works well for you! [emoji4]
  11. Well, I found the sugar free popsicles at Walmart, but they have aspartame in them as the sweetener, and aspartame gives me a nearly immediate migraine, so... nope. Starving and a migraine doesn't sound like a great combo [emoji1787]
  12. My shoe size hasn't changed (other than while pregnant) since I was in my 20s. My feet don't look... fat? I dunno...I think if you took a pic of just my feet, you wouldn't know I was fat. ? Maybe I'll try starting to do some yoga or something. I KNOW I've definitely lost flexibility over the years.
  13. I have no idea what caused it. Possibly a disc issue? Haven't been checked for that, but I've had chronic back pain for years. I just was telling everyone I was 5'10" as usual, then went to a new doctor, and she measured me at 5'8.5"... Same thing at the surgeon's office. I'm under 50, and "shrunk" several years ago.
  14. In the last several years, I have shrunk from 5'10" to 5'8.5" (it won't let you put half inches on here, so I am listed as 5'8")... I am wondering if, when I lose the weight, I will gain that 1.5" back? Has anyone experienced this?
  15. LOL I think I said this to you on the other thread.
  16. I am on the 2nd as well ❤️
  17. I wonder how it will be for me once I have the surgery and lose the weight. I have a weird form of it now... it involves photos. I think I look GREAT when I look in the mirror (unless I am naked... ?) but if I see a photo of myself, I am utterly horrified at how I look. Maybe I will have a pleasant surprise in that photos will actually resemble what I see in the mirror... guess I will have to wait and see. I hope it gets better for you! Hang in there...
  18. I haven't yet looked for the SF jello... I get a nearly instant migraine from aspartame, so if it has that in there, I'll have to skip it. All the other sweeteners, I'm okay with. I tried looking for SF popsicles the other day in Walmart, and didn't really see anything. Are there particular brands I should look for?
  19. LOL... I can relate! My birthday is during the pre-op diet, so... yeah... At least it won't be AS crappy (literally) ? I'm just consoling myself with the fact that the surgery is my belated birthday present 3 days later. ?
  20. I'll for sure try my best! Aww... I feel ya. I'm excited for you, though!
  21. Thanks... ? I wonder if I can do this with like... Bouillon or something. (I despise pickles, and the juice ?) I'm the one who MAKES the dinner. ? I suppose I could make theirs, then leave while they're eating. I used to do that when I've dieted in the past, so it could work. Thanks! I know I can do it, but... I'll whine about it. ? Fortunately, I don't drink pop anymore, so at least that hurdle has been overcome. Maybe I'll just take the phentermine over the next couple weeks (well before the pre-op) to get stuff done around the house a little easier ??? or maybe I'll toss 'em. Thank you for the encouragement. ?
  22. Please tell me the bowel prep is something not everyone does? LOL!
  23. So I start my pre-op diet on October 23. I plan on having my last hurrahs before then (certain foods I will likely not be able to eat, as they are, again), but I am really concerned about how I am going to not starve on the actual POD. ? I know I will get used to it after a few days, but those FIRST few days... ouch. I do have a few (literally 3) phentermine left over from a past diet attempt... those would probably get me "over the hump" a bit, but I don't know if I should risk taking those and having them come up as meth or something on my pre-surgery labs on the 28th (surgery is November 2). Any tips for getting through, when you are normally hungry ALL. THE. TIME?! ?
  24. Awesome that it's so soon!
