    Having a hard day today...

Hiya! I felt the same way right after my surgery. Your hormones are changing a lot and definitely creates emotions you would normally be able to control. It doesn’t last too long so don’t worry. The first couple of months are hard to get used to but it definitely eases once you enter your third month. You made a huge decision and there will be an adjustment period. Don’t worry too much, you’ve got this! and it’s wonderful that your wife is so supportive. Having someone to help you during this time, especially when feeling fragile, is a gift. It’ll get better!
  2. wearing shorts again! oh how i’ve missed them. life is better with bare legs. my favorite part of this journey so far is that my legs have the most noticeable changes. i carried very heavy in my legs and belly and both are shrinking at a consistent rate. down 78 pounds in 5.5 months. 2 more lbs and i’ll be halfway to my goal weight. Enjoy the journey!!
  3. Hello everyone! Mostly a question directed toward the ladies of the group. My hair has been falling out at a steady rate for the past six weeks. my baby hairs are growing in at the same rate. I am 5 months post op. Have any of you gotten your hair done during this time? I have tried to avoid it but at 33 yo my hair is growing back wicked grey. Curious if anyone had an appointment then regretted it after. I expect additional hair loss but definitely don’t want to speed up the process lol. Thinking a cut may help too. What have your experiences been? Thanks so much.
  4. Baritastic - it’s so great you can log your food and input recipes to get a good idea of calories per serving. It has been my greatest tool! It also tracks your BMI!
  5. I’ve lost 72lbs in just under 5 months. My weight loss has slowed but still losing about 10lbs a month. I’ve upped my exercise since the excess weight isn’t holding me back. I swim 3/4 times a week. Got back in the pool about two months ago after being out for 10 years. Starting to feel like myself again. Excited for you to experience the thrills of this journey!
  6. Good evening! was curious if anyone feels little fat lumps that accompany the weight loss. I press on them pretty hard and can feel the fluid inside the lump give way to the pressure that is applied. I really only press in the ones on the side of my thighs and my buttocks. Some on the stomach but they seem to bruise. I have plans to talk to my doctor about it but in the mean time wanted to check on the forum if anyone has similar experiences. is it lymph fluid? fat sack? just curious what others have learned or do about them. It’s weird ...I know. lol. I’m down 71 pounds and they are becoming more prominent now.

  9. Good evening! I love baths - so relaxing and feeling wonderful. my bod is shrinking and i’m more submerged in the tub. Baths are getting better lol. What strange way do you notice your bod shrinking? Another one for me is my seatbelt doesn’t strangle me any more lol. Down 53lbs in just under 3 months. Let’s gooooooo people!!!
  10. Thanks for your post. I have been waiting for one of these. Since my surgery my relationship with food has changed so much. It's like a dog I want to pet but he will only let me wave, ya know? Since my tummy doesn't let me eat many things I have taken to baking and cooking for my friends and family - also for my freezer lol. One thing that I have done to allow for some sweetness in my regimen is blending up a tasty fruity protein shake each morning. I find that pairing unflavored protein powder with greek yogurt, 1/4 cup of frozen fruit (I'm digging the Wymans Passionfruit blend currently) and 2-3 oz of OJ helps satiate my sugar craving while also getting in 45grams of protein in one meal (Less than 300 calories). I start my day with that - I feel like pairing so much protein with the fruit/oj equals it out. I had an 8 day stall before I started doing those shakes and since I've been drinking them consistently my weight loss has been steady again. Don't get me wrong I still have a nibble of bread or a treat but know how that can be a slippery slop for myself. Maybe try a different route for your sweet tooth. You are doing great and can change your direction. Don't beat yourself up too much. I have a feeling most of us on here are our own biggest critics - pivot and think positive. You've got this!
  11. Happy Sunday Everyone! Just wanted to get some advice and see if anyone has had a similar experience. I dumped tonight for the first time and man oh man was it unpleasant. Pretty much felt like my body evacuated all stored or working to pass BM’s. It was a wild experience. My stomach hurt suddenly so I went to the bathroom. Then my mouth started watering like I was about to vomit (thankfully that passed) I was wearing my apple watch and my heart rate spiked from 58 resting to 95bpm. I started shaking uncontrollably. such a strange experience. It has since passed but i’m worried it will happen again. 3 hours prior I had eaten a 1/3 of a banana. 1 hour prior I had high protein almond crackers with hummus. all chewed very well and without a drink. Has anyone had a similar experience with these foods? I don’t think it was the banana but any insight is appreciated. Good news is I feel cleaned out... lol. Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their sunday!

    Anyone go into surgery alone?

I had mine on September 25th and went in solo. Just breathe and relax. The doctors and nurses are there to care for you and you’ll feel their care. Ask them questions about themselves if you are feeling anxious. It helped me a lot. After the procedure I was so doped up I didn’t seem to mind being alone. You’ll sleep a lot. Stay calm and BREATHE. This is about you. Enjoy the trip!

  16. Good Evening Everyone! I have been on the road to this place my entire life. I am so happy that I finished all the prerequisites and am now awaiting insurance approval before my date is set. I came close to getting the surgery two times before but fear took over and I didn't follow through. THIS TIME IS DIFFERENT. I am nervous but also excited. I feel like Covid has kind of put my life into a focus that was never there before. Its weird though because I am the happiest I have ever been in my life and can't wait to see how much happier I can get with the weight loss that will come after the surgery. What are some of the biggest changes you have noticed in your life? What makes you happy? What makes you sad? What is something unexpected that came of you making this huge change? Curious what this community is all about. Excited to see your replies. Hope everyone has a great evening!
