  1. So I'm about two months post op and have lost about 20lbs... I feel like the weight is going slow, however I went shopping today and am now a 14 in my jeans!!!!! I've never been a 14!!!! anyway, i just wanted to post my frustration of slow loss but a big gain in some self esteem. I keep checking my butt out in reflections  Take care! I'd like to hear more updates from you!
  2. alright great! I'm keeping a food journal to keep myself aware of my intake. I really don't have that much restriction just yet and I am able to eat soft foods. thanks for the help.
  3. Hey everyone I'm just about two and half weeks post op. I am just curious how many grams of protein I should be getting everyday. My doc cleared me for mush food... or anything that I can press a fork through, fish, chicken.. finally some "real" food. OK thank for the help!
  4. I was banded the 28th and I've lost 8lbs so far! Unless my scale at home is lying to me.
  5. Hey all. I'm Jessica from Lenexa, KS. I got banded on Monday, the 28th by Dr. Jesse Lopez. This week I've just been healing and drinking lots of liquids. Today I got to start my full liquids, never been so happy to eat yogurt!
  6. Hey all. I'm Jessica from Lenexa, KS. I got banded on Monday, the 28th by Dr. Jesse Lopez. This week I've just been healing and drinking lots of liquids. Today I got to start my full liquids, never been so happy to eat yogurt!
  7. After my doc submitted my paper work, it took about two weeks for Aetna to approve my surgery. Oh, I just thought of something else... if your doctor would refer you it might cover your dietitian as well as the nutritionist. just a thought.
  8. Hello everyone. I'm getting my surgery tomorrow!! So I need some help putting together a grocery list of liquids I can have. I've already got my EAS Protein shakes, and I'm planning on buying the powder down the road a little bit. But, I'd love some help making my list.... variety is the key! I'm having trouble as it is with this clear liquid crap for 24 hours! help please!! *I spelled "grocery" wrong...

  10. Hey all. I'm Jessica. I'm 24, from Kansas City. I'm getting banded a week from today!!! Really excited to say the least.
  11. I'm getting banded with Dr. Lopez at the Kansas City Spine and Specialty Center.
  12. This process has been so easy! I had to do the 6 month instead of the three because I was still in school about 3 hours away from my doctor. But Aetna approved me in less than 2 weeks. I was really nervous that if I lost too much weight or too little I wouldn't be approved. But I did! My surgery is scheduled for the 28th, a week from tomorrow! I know the process can be stressful, but just keep the lines of communication open with your doctor(s).
  13. My birthday was July 16. I got approved for my surgery the next day... What a great birthday present, right? I'm getting banded the 28th. I week from tomorrow!!! I'm so excited. Prayer, thoughts, suggestions, support, whatever would be greatly appreciated!
  14. Hey everyone! I'm Jessica, 24 from Kansas City. I'm getting banded next Monday, the 28th. Really nervous but more excited to get it over and done with you know? It's been a long six months... but my insurance approved my surgery within two weeks! I thought that was pretty fast. Well, I'd love to know what's going on in your lives.
  15. Hello fellow KCers... I live in Lenexa and am getting banded next Monday!!! So.... I'd like to know when the support groups are meeting. Have a great week! Jessica
  16. I had my final doctor appt. last Thursday. During the six month diet I lost a few pounds there, and gained a few pounds back. However, my doctor was always very encouraging. I was sticking to my high protein diet and walking at least three times a week. But the kicker was this... I went on a 7 day cruise in June and was still able to loose a whopping 2lbs!!! My doctor was so impressed (probably just to make me feel better:) he said he was going to submit that I was able to go on a cruise and still have to willpower to loose weight! haha Keeping my fingers crossed for approval it's been almost a week. Wednesday is my birthday so that would be a wicked cool present!
  17. I was the same way. When I saw that I had to be in a room full of "fat" people it made me really depressed. I mean I was so afraid everyone was going to think I'm a failure and I'm taking the easy way out or something. But the seminar was a blessing. It answered every question I had. My doctor was so empathetic and understanding. His goal is to improve the health of everyone he meets. Be careful though, you can get find some doctors that will take anyone and are just in it for the money. I found one of those here in Kansas. Good luck!
  18. I had my final dr. appointment last Thursday- everything should be submitted to Aetna. My birthday is next Wednesday. That call that says I'm approved would be the greatest birthday present ever! Once approved I should be scheduled within the first two weeks of August!!!

the first week in july is my last dr. appointment before we can schedule my surgery. I'm only 23. This thing happened all because an insurance company turned me down because of my weight. I had the chance to sign up for COBRA through aetna since I worked at Starbucks. This was the best thing to happen. The process has been nothing but easy. This is a true answer to prayer. My goal is to get healthy. I'm only 4' 11'' and weight over 212. I'd love to loose 90. God.. and I just want to be in a healthy relationship too. So here begins my journey... GO!
