  1. congratulations. I've seen a few post lap band babies. Some dr's leave it as long as you're getting in enough nutrients. Other's empty, and yet a third option is taking out half. I wish you a wonder happy healthy pregnancy. And a safe trip. Teri
  2. Good to hear from you again. Been a while. I'm still stuck weight wise. I've refused to step on a scale for a week, maybe longer. I got into a disagreement with my pa (the one that I adored), and am not even sure if I will keep my appt next week. Not sure it's worth it. That mindless eating is what gets to me still. Or eating to fast. I don't know why that's such an issue for me. I also am finding I"m taking bigger bites. Sunday I'm walking in a 2 mile stroll for the children's miracle network. Brandon (my oldest) is walking too. The twins will ride in strollers and a wagon. Brandon gets the heavier one, I get the lighter one, but his stroller is Major heavy. The twins aren't both in school YET. Michael was to have started today, but they never looked thru his hemophilia information. So my life is still on hold. Teri
  3. My year has royally sucked. I'm on the verge of firing my surgeon's too. I still am not at my "sweet spot" can't seem to find it. Either I'm always getting stuck, or it goes right thru. So ok, I'm a failure at yet another thing. I went into surgery at 242. Today i sit here at 232. Wooo hooo 10 pounds lost. In a year? I could have done that before. I'm at the point I'm thinking about looking into revision surgery. My surgeon's started doing it, but the PA and I are not seeing eye to eye. Teri
  4. Way to go! I'm back to walking almost daily. With one twin in preschool yesterday, the other and I went for a 3 mile walk. I felt so tired afterwards. After a half an hour, I got a burst of energy, just in time to take Michael to get Matthew. :w00t: Teri
  5. The metformin is really helping with the urge to snack, so it's not such a struggle. It had been! I have lost 4 pounds since starting it. But I'm still hungry all the time. Probably an emotional hungry, as two of my 3 sons have started school, the other in 2 weeks. It has also brought my sugars back into the proper zones. They'd been inching up. I wasn't significantly high. A long time ago they tested my sugar by doing a glucose challenge test. I had to fast for more than 8 hours. Then they took a blood test. They then gave me a huge amount of sugar drink. (Like when you're pregnant). Then every hour on the hour they took blood to test how my body was metabolizing sugar. My body holds on to it. So I'm insulin resistant type two diabetic. When I was pregnant with the twins (which was a year after my diabetes diagnosis), they had an incredibly difficult job keeping my sugars under control. Towards the end I was on 50 units of combination long and short acting insulins. Without the insulin, my sugars were only 170's ranges. Why? Because my body fought it because of the insulin resistance. It sure made life interesting, because I'd have to check in every 3 or 4 days MAXIMUM. I had to go every two weeks for blood pressure checks, and weight checks, because it increased my risk of Toxemia. Thank God that never happened. So to be back in this boat isn't a huge surprise for me. Teri
  6. Wow look at you! You're doing so good. For me... Well I'm not at my sweet spot at this point. I had been, but something happened, I don't know. It's just gone. Anyway, I couldn't for a time eat bread or anything breaded. Now I can eat the gummiest bread I ever thought of. So something is different. I find carb rich foods like Pasta are not a thing to my liking. My kids love it though, so I make like tons of meatballs (with very low fat hamburger and turkey mixed), and I eat them. No pasta for me. Just doesn't taste good. Cookies are still a huge temptation for me. Ice cream too. But I fight often. I will have to try those whips frozen. I've been tempted before, but never done it. I'll pick some up today. My normal breakfast is Cheerios and half a banana. lunch lately has been tuna with a tablespoon of light mayo, and some really low carb bread I have found. It's by pepperidge farms. It's 3 slices for 17 carbs and 90 calories. I usually have one or two. And I'll have like half a apple minus the skin. Then for dinner lately we eat a ton of chicken, usually grilled on my george foreman grill. Some lettuce with light salad dressing. I don't do stews often, because they don't stick with me. that's where I am. Oh and I eat between 3/4 and one cup at a meal. I still find myself hungry, physically hungry 90 minutes later. Teri
  7. 50 pounds lost is a great feat. Since surgery I'm at 20 pounds lost... some days, most days it's more like 15. Not a great success... but I'd have definitely gained during this time. Teri
  8. Ok, stupid question... What are you eating now? How have your eating habits changed? What can't you eat? Do you miss anything you used to eat? What meal/item do you most enjoy that you didn't eat before? Teri
  9. Just a thought... If anyone is still around... can we do a what are you eating? What are you not eating type thread here? Teri
  10. Thanks K. You are doing great! I can't believe the amount of exercise you're doing. You make me look like a couch potato. I still have that tendency. I'm averaging around 228 this week. I had gotten down to 221 and gained a bunch back when my band was emptied. I wish I could get back there. This morning I hit 227, but most days this week it has said 228. I started metformin again, because my sugars are going up. Not sure if my body is just giving me crap or am I doing something not right. So I gave in and went to the dr. Metformin has always worked as much as an appetite suppressant, so I'm sad, but not terribly. Maybe I can start loosing again. Inches wise I loose, but the scale stays the same. I'm about to take my measurements for this month. I haven't yet, and I've tried to do it the 16th of the month, each month. I don't expect a big difference this month. Teri
  11. How is everyone? I go for a fluro fill tomorrow. I've not had one in a while. I did end up going back on metformin/glucophage (same name one generic one brand). Why??? My sugars were boarderline and that has always worked as an appetite suppressant for me. So we'll see. Then on the 16th (my surgiversary) I go for some blood work and a formal look at my band. My port is actually sticking out now. I've had one person even ask about it. Weird thing is I'm still in the upper 220's and low 230's depending on the day... week. etc. I fluctuate so bad! Other than that we've been busy with summer activities, and getting 3 kids ready for school. Teri
  12. How did that go? I'm curious. IF i had seen this sooner I'd have done it with ya. Teri
  13. Hey lady. I'm here. I don't post nearly as often as I should. I'm still working on loosing weight. No where near where I wanted to be by a year later (and next month is a year). But I'm trying. I've had to have a couple total unfills now. I'm back to building back up now. I have a fluro fill being scheduled right now. I'm a bit discouraged. Wish I could find my measurements I'd kept, as I'm sure I've lost a bunch of inches over the summer. My regular pc died, so I'm trying to find my hard copies. The power supply went out. It's an easy, but expensive fix. I'm hoping to buy a new one for my purposes. I'll fix the other for the kids use. Michael is starting to play video games online, with supervision, so it's a real battle getting any me time online. Anyway I'm here. I'll be better about posting after the kids go back to school... YES KIDS! All three are going to school. Michael only part time, 9:30 to 1:30, and Matthew from 9 to 2:30. Brandon normal school hours. Can't believe my first born is in 8th grade. The twins are both in preschool. Next year Michael will go with Brandon to pre-k. He's got a spot saved for him. Matthew is going to be in a different school for two years. He's in a special ed program. We'll be working on potty training him soon. Michael is potty trained. My big summer project is a success. As for me... I can wear those 14 capris much more comfortably. I'm walking daily. Sometimes not nearly as far as I'd like. But I'm doing it. I have signed up for a two mile walk for a good cause. I'm excited about doing it. Matthew will ride in a stroller for the time, maybe even Michael. Brandon's thinking about doing it with me. I'd love to do it as a familY! Well not much else new here. Teri
  14. WAY TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!! Doing a happy dance for you! teri
  15. I have before and current photos in my album. I started this journey weighing 270+ (a few pounds), and am now at 229 (again- having gained and lost the last few months). I seriously believe the gains have been fluid, as I can measure myself any given day and I've lost more. That said.... I started wearing a size 24W, and can now wear anything between a size 16 (no W) and a juniors 18. JUNIORS? I 've never worn juniors sizes. I wore a size 2XL to 3XL shirt, and yesterday I wore, snuggly a size MEDIUM. My waist has gone from a measurement of 48.5 inches, to 39 inches. My hips haven't changed as much, but they've gone from a 53 inch measurement to a 48 3/4. I have posted a photo of me in pants much tighter than I'm comfortable wearing in public, but I got them on, and zipped standing up, without much hassle. They are a womans size 14 capri (orange print). The shirt is a large. I know a lot of the work has been mine, but I think having the lapband is a constant reminder to me, I have to continue working hard. I've only recently gotten some restriction again. Working hard to fine tune it. I can no longer eat plain bread. IF I dunk it in something, like French toast I can still eat it, but I won't be doing that often. I also can not eat oranges. They get stuck EVERY time. Just wanted to drop a line, let ya know where I am, and how I'm doing. Teri
  16. my surgeon recommended that activia light. So for 70 calories a day I eat one. It's only been 5 days, and I already see a difference. Thank God. Just that crap is expensive. But I'm worth it. I also take acidopolus (gosh I can't spell). Been crazy busy with potty training and lining the boys up for preschool. Wasn't 100% sure I wanted to go that route, but we are. Company just pulled in. Must run. Teri
  17. I'm at around 5 ccs (my surgeon only gives a round about number because he feels people focus to much on that). i have a 10 cc. Anyway, I'm feeling better restriction. Last time I was at a 5 I so totally got stuck. I have finally learned to chew chew and chew some more. Funny thing is it messes with the brain. I used to be able to eat more (amount wise), but not now. I get fuller on less chewing more. Strange. Anyway my scales not moving, but my measurements are. I started this journey with a waist measurement of... 48.5 inches. I'm down to a 38.75 inch waist. I'm also down in the hips, not as dramatic starting... 53 inches, now 49.5. Yes I'm quite hippy. But my bf is enjoying the shape that I'm becoming. I havent lost in the girls area. That's good. I have lost a 1/4 of an inch in my fore arms, and half in my wrists. Never measured my thighs in the beginning. But I'll take it. Truthfully, i've lost 2 1/4 inches from my waist in the last month. I've really bumped up activity levels. And just this week Brandon and I have started racing and riding bikes. I get awfully sweaty. So I know I'm doing some good. I have a bike seat for Matthew, and a trailer on order, but am a bit nervous to put the seat on, as IF I crash he'll get hurt. I'm not that steady on it yet. Prior to this week, it was 7 yrs ago that I rode bike last. I wiped out so bad I had stones inbedded in my knee and hand. So I'm a bit nervous, but I weigh less than I did 7 yrs ago. And I have a nice mountain bike, which I think will work out better in the surroundings I have here. Deb, you've been such a wonderful supportive friend, as has slimntrim, and the others. I took a break, because I too was discouraged. But thru my dr's support (god I love my surgeon/team) and thru the Lindora program that is tied in with the allergan bands, I have gotten back on track. teri
  18. ya know I had a thought last night.... How much would we weight had we not had our surgeries? The way I was gaining I'd be in the 290's by now. Means I'm down 70 pounds + from where I'd be now without wls. Thats a wonderful thought! I'm stuck, not from eating, on the scale. My body loves the high 220's and low 230's. Plus I'm fighting horrible constipation issues. I have picked up a few "sport" related interests. I'm really enjoying riding bike with my oldest son. Can't go far, as the twins can't be with me until I'm a little more secure on the bike  It's been seriously 7 yrs since I sat on one, and I'm a bit shaky yet. I do have a seat for Matthew, and a cart for them both. Not sure yet which will work out best. Teri
  19. Let's see... Breakfast, 2 energy/protein bars =20 grams protein/ 210 calories. lunch is generally half a can of tuna or 3 oz with two tbsp of light mayo. Dinner- last night was 3 ounces of grilled chicken. 3 ounces of peas. And that was it. Before bed, I got a nasty wicked craving, so I had a 40 calorie ice pop sugar free of course. Teri
  20. I only have 4 ccs in my band, and I can truthfully say I'm definitely NOT at my sweetspot. I've actually been gaining. I see dr. Bob in two weeks. I don't believe he will see me sooner. According to the upper GI, I should be feeling good restriction. I'm not. Whatever. I've been actually reading about a revision, but not sure I want to go that way. I'm thinking I need to seriously keep trying this. Teri
  21. I'm glad it passed. I've had that happen a few times. It hurts. Please be careful. Teri
  22. Thank you for the encouragement all. It's an emotional time in my family, not a lot I can say about it right now. But I've lost my babysitters. So I'm not sure what I'll be doing with the situation. But I do know this. I can do it. I will do it. I will make due. Somehow. In September the twins will start Preschool and hopefully then things will get better. Then maybe I can make time specifically to get this weight off. It's hard with them around lately. They don't wanna nap. They're under foot when I'm trying to do the wii fit, and leslie sansone's walk slim. Or whining to be held. I should eb out the door, but haven't even gotten the one dressed. Guess I gotta move. Teri
  23. Gosh I wish I had some advice for you. At this point my flip has been minor, and we just go in sideways. Good luck with your decision. Teri
  24. I will start celexa for the depression in the next 24 hours. (My father will pick it up on his way home- trying to save some gas). My hip pain is they think from my back, so I'm on anti inflammatories for two weeks. My band is PERFECT! No slip, no stretched anything, no problem, so that's cool. And by the xrays I should have great restriction. I don't feel it. He did offer a slight fill, a like half cc fill, but because of the new meds coming onboard, I declined in fear I'd end up with problems. We think the pain is from either one of my herniated discs (I have one herniated in my ribcage area), or an irritated nerve by the band. So time will tell. IF the back/hip pain doesn't ease in the next 3 weeks, I'll get a steriod shot. UGH! Teri
