I guess the only thing I wish I'd known is how careful I have to be not to slip back into old habits and gain weight.

I think for me, the one thing I wish they would have taught is “what is a sip versus what is a gulp.” LOL

I am heavily researching getting gastric sleeve surgery, and this forum has been really helpful. I am curious for those who have had the surgery, or any WLS really; what is something that you found out after surgery that you wish you knew about beforehand. Both good and bad appreciated!

I'm scheduled to have mine Wednesday 9/9. I'm anxious about it, even though everyone says it's an easy procedure and you don't remember anything. I'm a gagger, so I can't imagine how this is going to go!!!

My doctor's office uses them too! I'm doing testing right now but they want me to have them often to make sure my stomach is good with them since I've had issues with milk/whey in the past. I agree, they're AMAZING! They're not gritty at all and most of the flavors I've tried so far are fantastic. (I didn't care for cappuccino.). Nectar is by far the way to go!

Amazing! You're so radiant! I'm in the pre-op testing phase and just terrified. Blood work is done. Psych eval and EGD are the first week of September. Looking at scheduling it November or December (90 day insurance requirement is done in October). [emoji33]

Hey guys, just a little something to keep you encouraged. For me, the pre-op phase was the hardest part of my journey. I am currently 9 mos. P.o. from gastric bypass. I love my tool and wish I had went forward 3 years Ago when I first started this journey. I had lots of questions, but I wanted to know what life was like after the procedure. I wanted to hear from people who were experiencing it. So, this is my info..sw 264 lbs. , cw 186 lbs. Medical issues before surgery...hypertension, diabetes, pcos, infertility, lupus, heart murmur. I currently only take a low dose hypertension pill ,but they will evaluate that at my next post-op appointment. Life is good and I have had zero complications, zero visits to the hospital after surgery. Im grateful for that! I started a YT channel ( under my name Bariatric Blondeshell) that addresses the pre op phase and what life is like for us after surgery. I hope if you check it out you will be encouraged afterwards! Keep pressing on everyone, you deserve this!

I went to 3 different local hospitals information programs. My surgeon does nothing but bariatric surgeries. The thing that really clinched it for me was his overall attitude. He's so sweet, understanding and takes into account my eating disorder (binge eating disorder) when talking to me. He made me less terrified of the surgery and his staff has the same friendly and supportive demeanor. The whole team communicates brilliantly. I wish they could be my primary care lol.

Here's to successful surgeries and improved quality of life!!

I really like the nectar protein drinks. When I told my doctor I was upswing that brand he was thrilled. Apparently his office used to use it with great results. If you like chocolate the truffle one is amazing, it does not taste like truffles to me just chocolate but better then the other drinks I tried. Boost is what my husband uses he does weight lifting but they are really heavy and I have not even had surgery yet. Hope you find something that works for you.
