  1. 3 weeks post op. I don't want protein shakes anymore. 🤮 Healing slower than usual but nothing that alarms doctors. Very emotional today. 😢

    EGD experiences

I'm a huge gagger too. I was completely out before they started and they reassured me that they wouldn't start until I was 100% out. You got this!! I'm the biggest wimp with hospital procedures and this was so much easier than I anticipated. It'll go great and remember that the team will make sure you're completely comfortable. Don't be afraid to ask questions if you're like me and want to know exactly how things will go. 🙂 Stay strong and know you'll feel so so proud of yourself after. ♥️
  3. Hi all! I'm going through my 90 day wait period and testing for gastric sleeve surgery at the end of the year. I've never had an EGD done and have no idea what to expect. How long after the procedure did it take to feel back to normal after the anesthetic wore off and gas worked itself out? I've only ever been under anesthesia when I got my wisdom teeth out (14 years ago now... [emoji33]). I'm curious what this twilight sleep is and if I'll remember anything. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! [emoji3526] Sent from my motorola one hyper using BariatricPal mobile app

    EGD experiences

I DID IT!! 😁😁😁 The hardest part was the clear liquid diet the day before. I was very ready to have it done the next morning to say the least! My husband kept me company in the pre op room and kept me laughing. I did tear up a little about 10 min before we went back, but the entire team was amazing and reassuring from the nurse to the anesthesiologist, to the nurse anesthetist, and of course my surgeon who did the procedure. The best part was the big surprise with weight loss and it wasn't just from the clear liquid diet the day before lol! My weigh in at my consult at the end of July was 325 and on Friday I was 316! After they turned me on my side and put the bite block in, they gave me something that relaxed me and then gave me the anesthesia. I was keeping my eyes open so they wouldn't start til I was out. The room got really wavy and all of a sudden I was waking up in the recovery room! It was absolutely amazing. Trying to get my bra back on was the hardest part lol. I started eating jello, then rice pudding, then a PB&J, and by dinner I had chicken breast and veggies with no problems. I had a sore throat but it was very mild. Everyone told me it was super easy and they were 100% correct. 2 more appts left until we schedule the surgery!!!

    just a little encouragement

Amazing! You're so radiant! I'm in the pre-op testing phase and just terrified. Blood work is done. Psych eval and EGD are the first week of September. Looking at scheduling it November or December (90 day insurance requirement is done in October). [emoji33] Sent from my motorola one hyper using BariatricPal mobile app

    Nausea from protein shakes/powder

My doctor's office uses them too! I'm doing testing right now but they want me to have them often to make sure my stomach is good with them since I've had issues with milk/whey in the past. I agree, they're AMAZING! They're not gritty at all and most of the flavors I've tried so far are fantastic. (I didn't care for cappuccino.). Nectar is by far the way to go! Covid Test!

Yup! It wasn't bad at all. It was mainly weird having something that far up my nose. My tip is breathe in when they are inserting it and stay calm. It's a scratching feeling but it's over fast. Afterwards my eyes watered and nose felt itchy and a mild burn. Within 5-10 minutes it was gone. You got this! Sent from my motorola one hyper using BariatricPal mobile app

How did you pick your doctor?

I went to 3 different local hospitals information programs. My surgeon does nothing but bariatric surgeries. The thing that really clinched it for me was his overall attitude. He's so sweet, understanding and takes into account my eating disorder (binge eating disorder) when talking to me. He made me less terrified of the surgery and his staff has the same friendly and supportive demeanor. The whole team communicates brilliantly. I wish they could be my primary care lol. Here's to successful surgeries and improved quality of life!! Sent from my motorola one hyper using BariatricPal mobile app
