Feeling very out of control
Hello. I am due to get my surgery date assigned in a few days and I’m feeling really out of control with my eating. I’m not eating extremely large amounts but eating everything I think I won’t be able to have again. The things I am eating are bagels, large onion rings and chocolate covered cookies. I tell myself this is the last night and I will do better tomorrow’ but it starts again. The thing is I wasn’t eating like this before I decided to have surgery. Please tell me this panic eating will stop. Help!

What are you doing to stay on track while elective surgeries are postponed?
I got my sleep test results already. No sleep apnea only snoring. I’m seeing the surgeon next Tuesday to get my date.

I like the app. It's suited for the job it needs to do. I did my sleep test last night and the machine said it was successful. I'm hoping it's not too bad. I am just waiting on the answers and then I can set a date.

I have the Bariatastic app. I set it up with the guidelines suggested by my doctor. I was doing better at first but now I seem to be getting anxious and getting off track. I am only waiting to finish my sleep test which will take place tonight. I should be going soon if the hospitals don’t close again.

Hi there. I’m in the same boat. I’ve been using GNC Lean shakes and muscle milk powders. I’m struggling with sweets, mostly ice cream. I’ve started doing some strengthening exercises so that I don’t go into surgery in a weakened state. I took this time to get other things taken care of like overdue gyn visit and visit to the dermatologist for questionable skin changes. All has been good. I ordered my post op vitamins already and some of the foods. Walmart has College Inn broth, large boxes of farina and they have good prices on protein powders. Is there anything in particular you are concerned about?

Work after Surgery
If you were doing a gastric band then yes but bypass is a bit more involved. I would check with your doctor but I know my surgeon restricts driving until the first follow up is completed.

Pulmonary doctor
- Pulmonary doctor
So I finally went to the pulmonary doctor and that is going to set me back a Few months. He thinks I have sleep apnea and I agree. I do want to have the machine if I need it. I’ve had issues with anesthesia in the past and I want to be able to come out of the anesthesia okay. However because it’s summer I am in my prime skin breakout season. I have painful cysts in my armpits and groin. I can’t wear anything too tight and forget taking a walk. I’m regretting not scheduling the pulmonary doctor first! I passed everything else. I’m doing okay with the overall prep situation. I’m keeping my calories within a limit. Making mostly good choices. Maybe it’s for the best that I am delayed a bit. I did buy an exercise step to do at home physical therapy. I have some issues with walking and balance. I use a walker for balance when I exercise so I don’t fall over. So I guess it’s all in the plan that I start my exercises first. My neurologist also did tell me to expect an increase in my tremors following the procedure. Just venting... I use drugs.com to keep a digital list of my medication. I can access it anywhere and I also have my medical history on there. When you enter the medication it flags any interactions they have with each other. Additionally, this is a link to a discussion of Tramadol and things you need to know. https://www.drugs.com/tips/tramadol-patient-tips- Pain Medicine and RNY
That sounds like a wise decision. You are having breakthrough pain. Bring your full list of medication to the attention of the pain management doctor. You should also have a new gi workup. Could be something happening that is decreasing absorption. Another option is to cross reference your meds with your pharmacist to make sure you aren’t taking anything that impairs absorption.- Pain Medicine and RNY
You probably should see a pain management specialist. It could be an absorption issue.- What actually makes the liver shrink?
Does anyone know what the desired size of the liver is? Mine is 21 cm.- Pre-op picking
The worst thing I did was eat an entire pint of Ben and Jerry’s last night. It was a new flavor and I always buy a new flavor. I’ll do better going forward.- Pre-op picking
How common is it to get anxious and have a tendency to get your last licks in with junk food? I was able to control my diet but as I get closer I’m thinking I need to have one last rendezvous with my favorite high calorie foods. Anyone else on a bit of a frenzy?- Help finding clothes before surgery
I have not worn a dress in 29 years. I can't even imagine it at this point. Where do you suggest buying a wrap dress? I've never worn one.- Help finding clothes before surgery
I just found out today that I will probably be scheduled for surgery in July so I dont want to put too much money out for clothes. Thanks for the suggestions everyone. i ended up using justmysize.com. I’m all set!- Help finding clothes before surgery
Hello to the ladies. My question is to you. I have outgrown my pants during the quarantine and I need to find petite pants in a lightweight fabric online. I’m having such trouble locating anything good in the only stores open right now near me. I’m at least a 3 x and very wide in my hips. Can anyone make some suggestions so I have something to wear other than my pajamas for the summer? I would be very thankful for any advice or links to online stores. Thank you.- Now that I finally made up my mind
I think it's keratoses pilar They usually prescribe lac-hydrin for it.- Now that I finally made up my mind
My issue is with large bumps under the arm, under breast and in private area. I've had quite a few procedures over the years to drain them. The only other thing I have is at the top of my butt. I get redness and then the skin opens up like a fissure. It burns like hell. I think it's the butt cheeks rubbing together or something causing it. I hate it!- Now that I finally made up my mind
Ever since I decided to go for Bariatric surgery I am anxious to get it over with. I have some issues with my skin that I hope will go away after the surgery. It’s not easy to talk about but I’m living with these issues for a long time. Is anyone else troubled with skin breakdown and bumps? Did they go away after surgery? Thanks.- Expected limitations in first few months of recovery?
Thank you on the congrats. The baby was my deciding factor in choosing to go through with Bariatric surgery. I want to be able to run after my grand baby! I ended up telling my daughter to have her best friend in charge with me as the secondary person. So it looks like that will be the case.- Expected limitations in first few months of recovery?
I hope that happens for me. I am napping quite a bit during the day at the moment.- Expected limitations in first few months of recovery?
I was thinking I’m going to be fatigued from the rapid weight loss. I just don’t want to say I’ll do it then be a dud at the party. - Pulmonary doctor
