  1. Ha ha, you can have some of my stress if you like kid. My daughter reckons that the more pb'ing you do the more the band tightens, and it does work for me, not that I want it tighter, just sometimes I am so uncomfortable I have to pb. Good luck with your next fill, you'll probably get the full restriction then.
  2. Garry babe, did you see my pm?
  3. Ahh poor you Maggs, seems very odd that you're near max and can eat all that. I think I would be mailing Dr Chris to ask if this is normal, I dont want to worry you, but it doesnt seem right to me. Maybe you need all the saline taking out and fresh going in. Michael told me that quite often some of the saline just disappears into the body so you may not have in as much as you think. Another thing is you dont have much to lose, so maybe this is your body's way of hanging onto what you have. Sorry if I sound negative but what I've said is the worse case scenario Maggs. maybe someone else has other ideas???
  4. Shoes...WOW!!! you have done so well, wish I had lost that much weight. Last night we had friends round, I had one of those small Birds Eye chicken pieces, well three quarters of it, about 6:30 and I still couldnt even have a drink at midnight, pb'd a few times, and this morning its so tight, I am struggling to drink my coffee. Sat up most of the night and was a bit sick too, I really really wish I had had a small defill in July as I think my band has tightened once again. Thats my moan for the weekend...sorry, but i feel awful today.
  5. Actually, I do have some clothes from when I lost a couple of stone with my first band so I'm not so bad off. I have bought a few things but with BA our baggage allowance is only about 20 kilos, and the other flights are the same, so cant take too many clothes. We have booked a few hotels with washing machines, etc, so we'll just have to keep wearing the same clobber lol. I get hiccups all the time, even when I havent eaten and sometimes when I've only had a drink of water, drives me nutz lol. I agree its not a feeling of fullness, but hopefully we will get to know our body's signs soon, we have to just play it by ear I spose.
  6. I've just noticed the new feature at the top right of the board, its very helpful, nice touch!!
  7. Oh me4ant to say, even if its only your second fill, be grateful girl lol. Sometimes it takes numerous fills to get to your point. However it may loosen off as sometimes happens when you get restriction early on.
  8. Homecare I know exactly what you're saying. I still dont know when to stop eating, its so hard. What I try to do is just put 1/2 cup of food out for myself, as this is the amount we're sposed to eat I believe, in any one sitting. I often cant eat it all and sometimes I could eat double the amount. It really takes a lot of getting used to, these silent partners are not so silent are they lol. But I would never be without mine I love it so much. I tried clothes on yesterday that I was wearing in August and they're so loose, I cant believe it, its amazing!!!
  9. Homecare, for me thats normal, I can only manage 1/2 cupful of anything at a meal. In fact my Bandster identity card does state that. I have found something new that I can eat by the bagful, which is not good, French Fries...81 cals a bag, and I can eat 2 bags at a time!!!! Saying that though, that would be my meal, cos I couldnt eat anything for at least 3 1/2 hours after. You are so good Garry with all your exercise, but that wouldnt apeal to me at all, all those bodies sweating...yuk, doesnt bear thinking about lol, was the room quite smelly, cos there's always someone who doesnt care about personal hygene isnt there, unless you're really lucky.
  10. Thanx girlies for the well wishes about Mum, she's sat up in bed with a bag of candy mice watching TV atm. Maggs, you can read the book online in that link I gave you, but I spose you couldnt read it in bed lol. Darling when i saw you in Cardiff you didnt look like you needed to lose another 28lbs...you looked pretty good to me. I hope you get your pain sorted Ivesy.
  11. Had another refluxing night, kept waking up with it, puked all over the duvet too. Its not getting any better, I am so sorry that I didnt get that little bit out, I have suffered dreadfully and its my own stupid fault, well that and the money. Cant wait for the 8th October so I can get a good nights sleep. My Mum is coming home for the night tonight, I do hope it goes well, then maybe next week she will be able to come home for good. I have been hospital/nursing home visiting for 7 months now and I'm bushed. I mailed Michael telling him my port had moved upwards a good 3 inches and was that normal. He says he cant comment until he examined me...gee thanx for that duh!!
  12. Firstly let me say, poor you Garry...maybe you shouldnt have had that little bit out after your fill, but I'm sure you've thought that yourself? Easy to comment after the event. Next time eh? Homecare, since July 4th I have lost 19 and a half pounds. Its been pretty slow, but consistant. Taking into consideration, my age and I have been really bad and not done any exercise at all, cos I havent felt like it, its good for me. In total I am 5lbs off the 3 stone mark, but was banded in february 09, so thats slow to some guys on here. I didnt have any restriction until June.
  13. Dont get disheartened Anita, i was banded in february and didnt see much weightloss until May, after a couple of fills. You will get there, I know it seems like forever, but it will work hunny. Poor Cathy, I know how you feel hunny, the reflux is dreadful, even now i have to sleep sitting up until about 4am, then I can lie down properly. Like I keep saying, these ignorant people who say the band is the easy way out, need to darn well try one for a few months, they would change their minds then. Wishful, I will look forward to maybe seeing you chick. xxx
  14. hey maggs, great to see you back. Well you'll soon get the 5lbs off, you have been away for a while havent you, so thats not too bad is it. I was doing a bit of googling and came across this. Please click Gastric Band My Silent Friend - Google Books I found it so amusing, all about a lady and her band/eating/etc its quite funny.
  15. has anyone heard from Sammy lately? Was wondering how she's doing, pregnant and back at work, poor love. Roseta, a bit of advice, dont eat anything for a few hours before your fill, the reason being is what happened to me. We travelled down to Southampton took about 3 or more hours, so we ate a couple of sandwiches. (well I ate half, but I also ate a 4 finger kit kat) I got my fill an hour later and of course cos it was so tight, it couldnt go anywhere, and I suffered for hours, cos I didnt realise. later that night I vomited it all, because I couldnt even swallow my saliva I was so full. I hope that helps you hunny, just be very careful.
  16. Sorry cant weight, I did read your post and was going to reply, I'm such a plonka!! I knew in an hour or so I had restriction, but sometimes its the next day, with me anyway. I have had this restriction since early July, and my God its hard, yesterday I couldnt hardly eat anything, just 2 crispbreads, nore could I get much liquid down, its scarey. Today I drank a mug of coffee, but it was difficult. I tried some All Bran but only managed 2 tespoonfuls. I am at present struggling to get down an Actimel. I just wish I had had a de-fill in July, but I was so pig-headed, I thought it would loosen off, and here we are 2 months later and its still awfully tight. Everyones doing so well. Thank you Carrie for your reply, I hope you enjoyed that wondeful meal, sounds scrummy. Thanx to you too Wishful xx Is anyone going to see Freddyboy on 8th October? My appointment is at 1:30.
  17. Ok everyone I really need an answer to this......define productive burping please. I have had a discussion with my (banded) daughter and she says its when you lose the whole meal. I always thought it was just gloop and a few things that hadnt been chewed properly. What are everyone else's views? I also find that if I have overeaten (chance would be a fine thing eh) but it feels like that on a tiny amount, then if I crunch some ice cubes in my mouth, or even let them melt it eases the horrid choking/uncomfortable feeling in my chest.
  18. to Krystal Carrie, yes good idea taking your needle with you, make sure its in your checked baggage though or they'll take it off you lol. Your band will tighten on any flights over 4 hours, at least thats my experience. have a fab time and congrats on the new man...
  19. So many posts to try to read. I'll try to reply to a few lol. Noodles, I stopped smoking on the day of my op lol, everyone was laffing, cos when they asked if I smoked I said no I gave it up yesterday. I stopped for 4 months and wasnt losing any weight, so I started again and I have been dropping ever since. Now I know this is a feeble excuse, but when you cant eat or drink, at least you can enjoy a ciggy. My bad i know, but i am not paying out all that money not to lose weight. Debs, you have the same birthday as me, though you gotta be years and years younger chick lol. Parrot i do hope you hiccups have stopped, they do hurt I know. Someone asked when they would ever reach their sweet spot, you will darling you will, I know I was over-filled 2 months ago and I have been suffering ( personal choice) ever since, but at least the weight is falling off. I know if i had had a little taken out I would have reached my SS. But I am having 4.5 taken out on 8th October, if i cant get a later date as I'm going to see my daughter in Australia on 31st October and we are also visiting Hong Kong, Singapore and Kuala Lumpar for about 3 days at each place, so I wanted to be able to at least eat and drink. We're going away for 3 weeks, so I do hope I dont put too much weight on. I know my band will tighten on the flights and we are doing a lot. Hi to all my lovely friends on here old and new and good luck to all the sweeties who are being banded now and soon. You wont ever regret the decision, it will change your life, I had mine done twice ..... I havent been on for a week, as that damn gastric bug came back and I've been very poorly, but all better now :tongue2: Take care peoples xxxx
  20. I dont think you'll be able to drink any fizzy drinks after you've had a fill or 2 Debs, but you can loosen the top of the bottle and let it go flat lol. You wont regret your decision babe, its life-changing.
  21. brilliant Garry, thats good news, and pray tell me why are you eating crisps, you naughty boy lol. I do love naughty boys lol I know my port is stitched, cos I had a dreadful stinging feeling in that area after my op, because the old one had attached itself so well the surgeon had to cut it away. It just seems funny that its moved up 3 inches. i hope to get my de-fill about 22nd october ready for my adventure to the Far East and Australia, so I'm sure freddy boy will tell me why lol. I just cant wait to get loads out cos i know it will tighten on the flight to Hong Kong, which is gonna take, from manchester about 17 hours all in, cos we have a couple of hours wait in Heathrow. I am such a greedy pig, cos the first thing i want to eat is an indian curry at our local restaurant. I have so missed those, even though i could make the meal last over 3 days, could never eat it all in 1 or 2 goes, so maybe I'm not such a little piggy. Ahh Bigsis you have been so good, maybe a feast of choccy will get you moving again. my bowels are great now thanx, just making sure i drink loads of Water every day.
  22. Carrie your pics are gorgeous, you look really lovely. No my port has only moved since I lost more weight, and I'm not in pain so maybe you are correct huns. I feel at ease now many thanx for your reply xxx
  23. Did anyone see this that I posted yesterday? Any of you experienced bandsters got any info?
  24. Can any of you 'old' members remember me telling you about my daughters friend who apparently had her band removed cos she was very ill??? Well I spoke to her via text yesterday, havent spoke to her for over 12 months, thought I'd lost her number but found it yesterday. She didnt have her band removed (as the story went...chinese whispers an all) what happened was...she went down to a size 12, and then couldnt keep anything down, and was losing so much weight she went to the docs. They took her into hospital where she stayed for 3 weeks. They operated and found her band had slipped so they fixed it. She went down to a size 4 !!!!! However this was last Christmas and she's fine now and needs another fill, she says she's overweight lol. I thought it sounded strange and knew she would never part with her band she loved it so much.
