Lost 80 pounds in under 6 months. Loving my band!
Hi Kathy, you seem to be doing so well. I think I am about ready to throw in the towel. I am hungry most of the time and do not have problems eating any types of foods. I had my surgery on 4/22 and have only lost 15# since surgery. Had a fill on 5/21 and then went back in on 6/23 for a fill and my doctor refused to give me a fill even though I told him it was like the band wasn't even there. I was up 3# since my last visit (TOM was visiting) and he said that I needed to lose those 3# plus more because I must be cheating before he would do a fill again. Well, that just sent me on a downward spiral. I gained another 10# (putting me at 383#) on top of that by grazing on junk foods and carbs. I am trying to get myself back on track. I am back down to 373# this morning (again, TOM is visiting) so hopefully in a few weeks I can be down more weight so I can call the doctor for a fill, but am scared that he won't do it. I am hungry most of the time and can't seem to get myself motivated to get started on some form of exercise. Any words of advice would be greatly appreciated. Sorry to sound so depressing, just don't know what to do. Gail

Calling all April Bandsters!!!!
Not sure if he is stingy on fills or not, he thinks because I gained a few pounds that I must be cheating and said that it must be a behavorial issue. I go to a support group meeting next week, so we'll see how that goes. If that doesn't work, then I will definitely get mad.... Thanks.

Calling all April Bandsters!!!!
Hi everyone, I had my surgery on 4/22/08 and am only down 14# since day of surgery, total of 45# since I walked through my surgeons door on 7/15/07. I went to my doctor last month to get my second fill which I desperately need, but because I was up 3# since my last visit, he said I must be cheating and wouldn't do my fill until I lose more weight. I understand that this is just a tool and I need to do the work, but I am hungry most of the time and can eat anything and nothing bothers me. I tried to explain that TOM was present and that I always retain water with that every month, but he wouldn't listen. I was so ticked off after that visit, it through me totally outta control. I gained additional weight, but am finally getting back on track and only have the original 3# to lose and then I am going to call to schedule an appointment for a fill and hopefully he will do one. Thanks for listening, this is so frustrating. Gail

Looking for online Buddy/Mentor
Would love to be an online buddy with someone who has had experience in this. I was banded almost a year after you were. I had mine on 4/22/08. Can you give me a few tips on maybe a daily menu and how do you fit exercise in a busy schedule. I work from 8-4:30 and then I go home to make dinner, take care of and have play time with my 2 year old son and after he goes to bed, it's clean up time and then i'm exhausted for the day, but need to do something, so any tips from an experienced lapbander is greatly appreciated.

Looking for online Buddy/Mentor
Hi, i'm from CT and I am 37 years old, happily married for 18 years and have a wonderful 2 year old son. I have a full time desk job so not much exercise during the day. I was banded on 4/22/08 and am struggling at the moment with not losing weight. Would really like someone to chat with online and maybe get a few pointers to help me get going in the right direction again. I have about 180# to lose and really need to get this journey going again. Look forward to meeting new people online how have been in my shoes at some point in their life. Gail

Why no restriction at all???
well, just back from the doctors and because I was up 2# since my last visit, he wouldn't do the fill. He said that I need to lose more weight on my own before he would do a fill. I told him that I felt like there was no restriciton at all and he said it didn't matter. I feel like giving up, don't know what the heck to do now. I really feel like I need a fill. Gail

Why no restriction at all???
I go to the doctor on the 23rd of this month to get a fill. I really need to be mindful about how I chew and to take small bites. I am hoping that I haven't caused any damage to myself. I will let him know how I feel and thanks for the advice.

Why no restriction at all???
I go for my second fill on the 23 of this month and am afraid to tell the doctor that I can eat as much as I could before the band. I know he is a very blundt person and I am just hoping that the band didn't slip. Honestly, it doesn't feel like it's even there lately. I eat too fast, all the wrong foods again. I know what I should be doing, but can't seem to get myself back in control. Not sure what I should do. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Any Connecticut Bandsters Out There?
Thanks for the welcome Sharon, eating slowly is my biggest hurdle too. How do you get your protein in every day? Do you do protein drinks, if so, what type? I tried the vanilla protein powder and don't really care for it, but I know I need to get that in every day, just not sure how to do it. I go back on 6/23 for an adjustment, can't wait. I go back for my first follow up with the dietician tomorrow so hopefully she can help also. I gained back 3# in the past 2 weeks. Gail

Any Connecticut Bandsters Out There?
Hi everyone, i'm from Meriden, CT and had my surgery at Midstate Medical Center on 4/22/08. Had my first fill on 5/21/08 and I will be going in the next week or so for another adjustment. This is still a learning experience and I am new to this board, so any pointers for using this board would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Gail
