  1. Caelyn, I went to the PMRI classes. Is Dr. Peters part of CHRIAS? I had Irgau and Wynn. They double team you. I had 5 incisions, so I guess they both work one incision with each hand and hold the scalpel in their teeth. LOL The classes are pretty dull, but you can glean some good info from them. Make sure you're doing an approved diet for the whole 6 months. Mine didn't count, so I had to do the last 4 months over again. I had followed the south beach diet loosely, really loosely, but they didn't count it, because I gained weight. I had initially lost 64 pounds on it, but gained back about 150% of it. Rob
  2. Well, the restriction seems to have dwindled already. I can drink a whole glass of water straight down and moist foods go right through. I"m scheduled for a Monday fill (3rd one), so I can be good to go to Hawaii in two weeks. I don't need to be able to pig out there. Rob
  3. I tried other ways and it just isn't working. I also couldn't delete my post.
  4. Testing out my new ticker: Arghhhh, it didn't work. Can someone (fairysaddle?) tell me how to link to it? This forum doesn't work the same as others I'm in. Thanks, Rob <a href="Weight Loss - Diet Ticker"> <img border="0" src="http://tickers.TickerFactory.com/ezt/t/wV7rwxX/weight.png"></a> <a href="http://www.TickerFactory.com/weight-loss/wV7rwxX/">
  5. If I eat too much sorbitol, I get the runs, though I get them way too easily. That's been one side effect of breaking my back in my fall in 1982. Meds help me sleep and help with that problem. I'm always gassy, but that may be due to my high intake of non-nutrative sweeteners. Rob
  6. I think I still need more fill, but it's finally working again. I'm down 4-1/2 more pounds since my fill on Monday. Part of that was from eating too many nuts............................ I also just got back from a killer workout and did some gardening today. Man, is my back sore. I broke it in 1982 and wiped out 3 discs, breaking up a fight in a juvenile detention center (I was a care worker aka youth rehab. counsellor). I have to be careful how I stress my back. One of the main reasons I got the lap band, was so my back wouldn't have to work so hard to keep me upright. Rob
  7. Can you tell me more about the clothes swap? Thanks, Rob
  8. I'm the exact opposite. I have to have it ice-cold. I've been drinking it tonight and it's working for me. It does quench my thirst. I lost two pounds yesterday and think it'll be the same today. But then, I've got some help from nature. I ate too many cashews last night. Has anyone tried the sugar free, fat free ice cream, from Edy's? It's really good and to me tastes pretty regular. I've been eating low fat, sugar free turkey hill and it isn't nearly as good. I do about 4 oz a day. It satisfies my sweets cravings, without the guilt. Rob
  9. Water nauseates me in the morning, but I should try to drink more of it during the day, and at night. Thanks. Rob
  10. Denise and fairysaddle, Thanks for your responses. Both were helpful. I've been really thirsty, so I have been tossing down sugar-free drinks since dinner. I don't feel hungry at all, but I do feel overstuffed, and still thirsty. I didn't get much to drink today, with a fill and then working out at the Y. Rob
  11. I realize that this question is probably answered many times over elsewhere in the forum, but I have a really bad back and can't sit here to read very much. What is it like to have a perfect fill? This morning, I could drink a pint straight down and now I have to drink it in sips. I'm assuming this is good. Also, how long does it take for the food to "drop"? Thanks, Rob in Newark
  12. Sorry, I thought that was Dr. Wynn's signature, but I see that she was your surgeon. I've got a lot to learn about this forum. I'm in two pen turner's forums and they both work so differently. Anyway, I'm in Newark and was done two months ago today. Rob
  13. Hi Folks, Hi Dr. Wynn. It's the great big guy, you helped Dr. Irgau with on April 2nd. I was in for my 2nd fill today. You two did a wonderful job. The 2nd fill did the trick and I finally know what it's like to have a one ounce capacity. It feels almost like when you eat dry chicken, or potatoes and it won't go down. I guess that's what it is supposed to feel like. I ate some chicken soup and drank it down fairly quickly, saving the carrots and chicken for last. I was able to eat a couple of tablespoons full, then again a half hour later. Hi 366, that's what I weighed today too. I was 402.5 before the two day clear liquid pre-op phase. I lost it all in the first month, but have been stuck for a month, waiting for this fill to work. The first accomplished little, but this one seems to be just right. Rob
  14. Wow, I just realized how old this post is.
  15. Oops sorry, I meant that I was banded on April 2nd, so I'm two months to the day, post-op. The fill worked. This is my first experience with a one ounce stomach. It feels really wierd, almost like something's stuck in my craw. Rob
  16. Hi, I was also done by Irgau on the 2nd. Are you the lady I met at his office 2 weeks ago? I'm the BIG guy with the beard and glasses. I haven't looked at the support group list yet. Have you? I just got a fill today, which is my 2nd. I didn't lose anything over the last month, as the food just dropped through unhindered (for the most part). I had lost, and have still lost 37 pounds. I was actually ten pounds lighter two weeks ago though. I've been eating too much fried chicken. I was really craving it and I ate 3 buckets over a couple week period. That's how I found out that the foot just dropped to my "lower stomach". My e-mail address is: figuredwoods@yahoo.com. What's yours? I hope this isn't against the rules. I haven't read them yet. Rob
  17. Oops. This is my first day and I didn't see the category of BMI 60 and over. I forget what mine was, but I think it was 48. I'm a pretty big guy, even without the fat. The fill seemed better, but I'm getting ready to eat my first meal, so I'll know more later. Thanks for the encouragement. Rob
  18. My highest weight was sometime around November of last year, and was 415 pounds. I was 402.5 when I started the 2 day fast prior to the surgery. I'm stuck at 366 for a month now, but had my 2nd fill today. I'm feeling hopeful. I lost all of that weight in the first month. I have to stay away from fried chicken. See ya Colonel. Rob
