    Thinning hair?

I've been having the same problem!!! My dr told me that it was from lack of Protein, but I've been eating 70 grams each day min. She looked like she didn't belive me, and didn't give me any other reason, other than lack of protein. I'm so frustrated with them. I really want my Dr to believe me when I bring her my diet book, and show her all the food I eat. I even showed her how much hair falls out root and all by running my fingers through it. She didn't acknoledge what I did. Help!!!!
  2. I felt awful since my banding June 10, 2008. Yes I've lost 53 lbs as of today, but I don't feel good. I have wished that I didn't do the surgery most days since, not because of the weight loss, but because I didn't have the medical issues before the surgery that I do now. For some reason after surgery my liver function test came back so high my Dr's were worried I was going into liver failure, and I was sleeping 20+ hours a day. Could not work, my depression was getting worse, and my hair was falling out. My Dr who did the surgery did not feel that the lap band would cause these issues, but my general Dr thought it did. They still are pointing the finger at each other. It is quite annoying! It is now Oct. and my liver function has gone back to normal. (My Dr's never figured out why my liver function test was so high.) In August I was diagnosed with a low thyroid function, and have been on medication for it. I do have more energy now, but I still don't feel good. Also my hair is still falling out!!!! I've measured everything going into my body, and it is NOT lack of protein! They have told me to wait a little while longer, and see if it is because of the low thryoid. Please keep your head up, and keep thinking that you are healthy. The weight loss will come in time.
  3. I'm single, female, 29 from Maine. Looking for a good man who likes to hang out, funny, and who can actually carry a conversation. Some simple must haves: A job, can drive (don't have to have a car), and knows what they want in a relationship. Me: Funny, has a good job, has a car, and knows what she wants.

    Lap Band Cookbook Anyone?

I found a FANTASTIC cook book called Eating well after weight loss surgery and it covers all stages. I love it so much, I had a coming out dinner party this past week. It is so good that my friends who have not had the surgery wanted to borrow my book!
  8. I just got my first fill this past Thursday 9/25/08. I was 15 weeks out from surgery. I got 2 cc, but I found out that I already had 2 cc in my band to start with. So I now have a total of 4 cc in my 10 cc band. Angela
  9. Since my banding June 10, 2008 I have felt awful! Very exhausted all the time, and my liver function test has been through the roof. Come to find out I now have developed hypothyroidism, and have started on medication last week. I've lost a total of 25 lbs, but have not lost any more weight since the end of July. I have decided to let my body completely heal before I get my first fill. I really don't think that my body could handle any more changes. The worst part is that I have not been back to work full time since the surgery. I hope that everyone else is feeling better than I am.

    I'm the burpy monster!

The first two months after my lap band I was burping loudly all the time. Most of them were completely random. Inbetween meals, and with no coraspondence with drinking. I work in the customer service field, and I was on the phone with a customer and all of a sudden a large loud belch came out with out warning. I was so embarrassed! Luckly enough the guy starting laughing, and told me that I could win a burping contest. AAfter apologizing we went back to the origional conversation. It was really annoying, but just past the two month mark the belching has calmed down. My Dr. did tell me that some people are gassier than others. I was afraid that I was doing something wrong, or that I was going to make my band slip, but she reasured me that I was one of the special ones.
  12. I wanted to give an update on my situation. The worst part is that I have not been back to work full time since the surgery. I hope that everyone else is feeling better than I am.
  13. I'm 7 days out from my surgery date, and I'm still having severe pain in my lower left side of my belly. Directly next to the belly button. I can't move, sitting standing, every little movement hurts. I've been having severe muscle cramps on that side as well. I've spoken to my MD and he said that they could have hit a nerve when they sewed the port into my stomach wall. I can only walk to the bathroom slowly squat down and walk back to my chair. I don't have a feaver, my surgicle sites are healing great and don't really hurt, and I can drink fluids just fine, and I've hand pleanty of BM's. I've been averaging 77 oz of fluids a day, and I've been getting 55 grams of Protein. I don't understand where this extreamly painful crap is coming from. I would understand if the pain was at the port site, but it is not. I don't know what to do, and my MD is not being very helpful. Also she does not want to give me another refil of pain meds. She said this type of pain is very unusual. Well I'm having it, and it has not improved at all in a week!!

anyone have the band put on in Maine

My wait was only 5 months from the initial interview to when I first met with the Dr. I started my first appointment May 07, and had my surgery June 08. Going throug the program, and meeting my insurance's requirements, took the longest time. If you have any other quiestions please feel free to email me. Angela
  15. I was banded on 6/10/08, and I still can not sleep on my tummy. I've always been a belly sleeper, and even laying on my side proped up with pillows has been too painful for me.
  16. The pain has started to go away. I've just now returned to work on a part time basis, but I can only sit in the computer chair for 45 min. before the pain becomes too much. My Dr. told me to work the muscles out no matter how much it hurts. I'm not sure how much that will really help. Thank you for all your suggestions.
  17. I'm sorry I have not gotten back to you sooner, but I did not know you sent me a msg. I'm feeling very tired, and I can't seem to shake it.

    How are you doing?
