Anyone Have March Surgery Date??
We have the same date. How is your diet going? I have to admit I cheated with a small piece of salmon. [emoji2364]it's not too hard during the day but once I get home I'm starving.

March 2020 Surgery Folks Come On in!
So this is a general question to the forum or whomever created it (sorry not sure who that was). Im pretty new here and not quite certain of how everything works. As we are going through the process and once we get our surgery, is this where we would post updates and find general support from one another?

March 2020 Surgery Folks Come On in!
It hasn't been completely horrible, probably because my sister/cousin is doing it with me out of sympathy...lol. I'm on day 4 now. The first day I was hangry...mad at everyone and difficult to be around so I locked myself in my bedroom and told my boys to give me some space. The second and third day were less difficult. It gets easier each day and I've lost 4 lbs already! I also have more energy and my body aches aren't as bad. I am happier when I wake up, although that may be because the surgery is right around the corner [emoji16]. But your lucky your liquid diet is only a week. My advice would be to find protein shakes that you like. Premier protein taste good to me. I also have the Walmart equate brand and they are okay. People say to drink lots of water to help stay full. I can't do that as my bladder is really weak so I just keep drinking the shakes and broth eating my boiled egg whites, jello and popsicles. And I'm still allowed coffee and half and half so I have that and my vitamin for breakfast. Just stock up on what you need and ride it out. Our surgery day will be here before we know it!

H.pylori found during Preop testing.
Oh snap a bad tooth is no joke. I've had one pulled and I was feeling fine after about two days. I've never had a root canal. How long is the recovery?

February Surgery ?
I am 100% in agreement with you. Majority of the women in my family on both sides are obese and my youngest son is slowly getting heavy. I feel like once I get vsg and change my eating habits he will start to slim down with me.

H.pylori found during Preop testing.
So I didnt have anything to worry about. The surgeon said if the antibiotic gave me nausea while on the liquid diet I can stop and resume taking them after the surgery. To be honest I was hoping they would say I could eat a little something with it...lol. She also is sending me for an ultrasound of my liver since my levels are so high. She just wants to confirm it's just fatty liver and not something else. It seems like for every test I have they want to do more test...smh. I know it's better to be safe than sorry. Or the test show something. The cardiologist sent me for an ultrasound and found mild mitral valve regurgitation, the endoscopy found h.phylori now the liver needs an ultrasound. But a part of me is happy to basically am getting a semi-final body check and if anything is wrong at least I know.

Philly Let's Talk!
I'm in Delco too...Drexel Hill! but originally from Philly. I went with them because my primary is with Jeff which made it easy for the bariatric center to access my records and send them to the insurance company. Also all of my preop appts were with Jeff doctors and scheduled by the center. It was like a one stop shop. Where is Mercy Fitzgerald...is that the hospital off lansdowne ave. I've only been in the area a little over 2 yrs.

Philly Let's Talk!
Hey yall! I am scheduled for my VSG surgery on March 2nd and I was hoping to find people in the area to connect with and encourage each other on this journey to better ourselves. Also to swap stories and answer questions about the local health insurance requirements and surgeons. I had a really hard time finding others with Independence BCBS insurance and there weren't any online reviews of my surgeon. So I figured there may be others out there like myself who are looking for answers and support. I am going through Jefferson Hospital Bariatric Surgery Center, and the process has been pretty smooth. My last preop appt is tomorrow and I am excited but not loving this all liquid diet. Anyone else going through Jefferson? If not who is your surgeon and what has the process been like for you?

Did anyone go crazy before pre op diet started?
Started my 2week preop liquid diet today and it was fine until I got off work. I was dying for some doritos of all things...smh. I legit made myself sick this past week having food funerals. Lol

Did anyone go crazy before pre op diet started?
I wish I didn't have a pre op diet but mines is all liquid with no food whatsoever. And I'm scared to cheat because I don't want my liver to be too big for surgery. How do some surgeons require you to have a preop diet but others don't it doesn't make any sense. I wonder if it is dependent on one how much weight you have to lose.

H.pylori found during Preop testing.
I found out today that my endoscopy shows I have H.pylori and they are going to put me on antibiotics for 2 weeks to clear it up. The problem is I have my surgery in exactly 2 weeks. Has anyone else experienced this? Will the surgeon push back my surgery date since I have to take the antibiotics? Also do I have to eat with the antibiotics? I just started my preop liquid diet today.

Where Is Everyone From?

Anyone Have March Surgery Date??
Yayyyy Congrats!! Did you start buying your preop liquid foods yet? I'm buying money this weekend. I'm leaning toward the premier protein shakes. Instead of protein powder.
