My insurance was denied because I don't have 6 months of a drs supervised diet. We turned in 9 mo of ww but that wasn't good enough. They claim that this is all that I need. I guess I will be waiting another 6 months. I have bbcbs-highmark. Does anyone know how I can get around this.

No, I have not heard anything yet. The drs office didn't submit my paperwork until July 31 and when I called the ins co they said that they have 30 days to decide. I'm afraid that they will not approve even though I have everything done. This is beginning to be quite frustrating! Someone emailed this week that is using the doc that I am but they are self pay-they went on July 28 and started 2 wk diet on 8/8 and will be operated on 8/22. If I were wealthy I guess I would have a date. ws467

JRfan88 I seen where you were banded by Dr.K in Texarkana. How long did it take you working with their office to get the surgery? I have all of my paperwork and test done and I am just waiting on them to file my insurance. Are you happy with the surgery? ws467

Addy: How long did it take for you to be approved or have a surgery date set? I'm working on trying to get approved and everything seems to be moving slowly.

Aligmamma: How long were you having to deal with the insurance. I went to the seminar on June 11 and went in to see Dr.K on 6/16 and I've already done 2 sleep test,nutrition, and psy evaluation. As far as I know they have all of my records. I'm a little anxious to have the surgery because I have to go back to work on Aug 18 and time is running out. They seem extremely busy at the office. My ins is Highmark-BCBS. Are you satisfied with your surgery? My BMI is around 47 and I have high BP but keep it under control with meds.

Looking for some one who has been banded by Dr.K in the last few months. Also do you have insurance? I think that I have everything in but I don't know when they are going to send in to my insurance.

I have the highmark bcbs/ pa. I'm waiting on my drs to send in for approval. This is what I have so far-dr visit, 9 mo ww, dr records, psy evaluation, nutrtion evaluation, 2 sleep test and now using a cpap.There shouldn't be anything else that I'm needing is there?

Do you also have the Highmark BCBS?

Thanks for the insurance info. I think my dr's office stays pretty busy and they want to make sure that you have everything before they seek approval. I hope that they send mine in this week but I don't know. I will let you know when I hear something.

:rolleyes2:I'm new to this site and am in the process of awaiting approval. I have insurance with Highmark BCBS. If approved for the surgery, I will be having it in Texarkana, Tx. I've been to ww for 7 months, 5 yrs of doctors records, 2 sleep test and waiting to be fitted for a cpap. I have also had 1 visit for a mental evaluation and 1 with a nutritionist. I'm a teacher so I'm hoping to be able to have the surgery before school starts. Does anyone have this particular type of BCBS?
