  1. Just curious. Is anyone keeping the fact they're having the band surgery from friends, relatives, or co-workers? I have told my mom and a couple of close friends. I am keeping it from my father because he's very judgemental and thinks people who can't keep weight off lack self control. Work is a cross between being private and feeling bad our work insurance policy doesn't cover it (I am HR benefits manager) and my insurance (husbands) covers it. They think I am having gall bladder surgery. Anyone else doesn't need to know. Maybe once I lose a bunch of weight I will say something but right now I am not ready to do that. Am I alone in this thinking?
  2. Another Texas person here I am Jenni, turning 35 in a couple of weeks and having my surgery June 13th with Dr. Davis. Married 10 years next month also. Lots of milestones coming up. I have a 21 month old son and the best husband in the world. When we first moved to Houston (6.5 years ago) I lost 99 pounds and kept it off for a couple of year but after a major depression, too much eating, and not being able to keep up with an insane gym routine I'd created, oh and having a baby, followed by another major depression, the weight crept back on. What did come out of that was the I love to exercise. I managed to get the insurance to approve because I have high blood pressure, sleep apnea, and back and hip problems. In my mind I am a 25 but my body is 95! I can't even work out like I could before because of back pain. My eventual goal is a mini-triathalon and getting back into this really cute skirt I wore all the time when I was thin. Oh and not needing my CPAP and HBP meds  Oh and I would like to have another couple of kids but know it's too dangerous and miserable at this weight. Anyway I am sure excited about having the procedure and looking forward to doing the journey with everyone.
  3. Lucky Friday June 13th here. CAN'T WAIT! I start the protein shakes June 1st. I am sure it will be gross, but worth it!
  4. Friday June 13th is my lucky day also I have my pre-op on Thursday, hope all goes well with that so we can proceed. I am very excited, I have been DVRing big medicine lately. Before I was convinced I'd never get it approved and the diet classes I had to go to were really depressing so I didn't want to get my hopes up by watching it.
  5. Hi Everyone! First post :cool2: I am having surgery 6/13 in Houston. I am SOOOOOOOOOOOO excited I am not even scared. It's been a long long road with jumping through all the hoops but got approved 1st submission! I want to lose 100 pounds. My big fear is it not working. But other than that I am ok. Once they get the IV in I am ok with all the medical stuff. Luckily I made all my sons baby food so I am quite the expert at purees and softfoods :lol! Weeeeee can't wait. Pre-op appt on the 29th, starting liquid diet June 1st. Turning 35 June 7th (not going to lie to you, might have a birthday meal and drink) and then the following Friday..... This will be like a due date club on a birthing board teehee! j.
