Omg! Thanks you guys ! Yes okay so after I finished chewing for darn near two hours on tiny pieces I noticed I got super full super fast . And was Super uncomfortable my back started hurting to no end. To combat the back ache I had to walk a mile around the back yard and therefore You guys are right ! Won’t try that again! I’ll stick to my purée for now. And yes! It’s so weird I still get hungry but I’m not on a specific regime and I think that’s my problem. I started to write down a schedule to eat but 4-6x 4oz meals and snacks of protein in between. Thank god I am meeting with my dietician this week. I honestly need help in developing the correct diet for me. For everyone I had the modified duodenal switch which includes the gastric sleeve a bit bigger than the norm. So far the best thing about my procedure is that I can keep up to 60z down of water down with no problem as of today. But I truly appreciate you all for your comments. This is a new road untraveled for me ?

yellowish stool is often indicative of fat malabsorption - although maybe not always, so it's probably good to ask
bright red blood is usually hemorrhoids or an anal fissure, neither of which are particularly major, so you may be OK there as well - but again, it's good to get it checked (and they'll probably have you treat it regardless, so it's good you're going). Really dark blood can be more worrisome because that means it's coming from much further up the G/I tract.

Well, you're supposed to still be on liquids so it wasn't the best idea, but it's too late now. You shouldn't be eating egg muffins probably until soft foods stage which for me was week 3.

Well there is nothing you can do about it now, but no - your sutures are still healing and this could be very harmful.
I wouldn't do this again. The first few weeks - you will have "head hunger" bad.. Where your mind has not caught up with your stomach & you'll THINK you're hungry and crave all the bad foods you previously ate. You have to work through that stage, because it's not safe to eat solid foods at this point.
Just monitor yourself for a few days to make sure you haven't harmed yourself. And be very gentle with your tummy/body -- it is healing right now.
    Good luck.

So long as you're not in any pain I don't think there's any immediate worry. But the primary reason for the slow introduction of solid foods is to ensure that nothing interferes with your stomach's healing. Each time you deviate from your surgeon's recommendations is taking a risk that could jeopardize your recovery. I'm only one month out and fortunately haven't had any issues, but I did try a pistachio too early on for my stomach... I was sick for hours. Afterwards I've been following my doctor's instructions to the letter and have been doing well.
The post-op diet is bland and boring, but it's manageable and will get much more interesting in the coming weeks. I couldn't handle pureed meat, so I spent some time working on some high-protein recipes to keep me going until then:
Blend 1c low-fat ricotta, 1-2 T caramelized onions, and some finely chopped rosemary using a hand blender for a great whipped ricotta dip. Pressure cooked some cannelini beans and blended with a touch of olive oil, lemon juice and zest for a white bean dip. Straight up refried beans from my local tex-mex place. 1 side portion lasted several meals. Not really a recipe... Scrape vanilla bean seeds & add pod to low-fat milk and steep over low heat. Remove pod, combine with sugar-free cheesecake pudding and a little bit of almond extract. Tasted like an amaretto cheesecake! This was my entire diet along with cottage cheese and shakes. In fact, this was way too much- I could only finish a couple of these before my soft foods stage. Best of luck ?

Yay! Another Loop DS 'er. Your experience sounds so similar to mine. I also threw up the first few days and it was blood. I stayed 3 nights because of this. I also had really crampy back pain on the left side of my back, and I'd be nauseated, and they'd give me nausea meds and it wouldn't help, but if they have me pain meds the nausea got better. I came to find out later that was most likely a kidney stone, because 11 days after surgery that same pain came back and had I had burning when I urinated, and thought it was a Uti, but I went to my primary and my urine was red from blood. I didn't have a Uti. And then I realized it had to be a kidney stone.
I should have known. I'm an ER nurse turned stay at home mom and I've seen so many kidney stones, but it didn't even register, because I had just had surgery and figured the pain was from that. But I had an appt with my surgeon Monday and when I told him about that he agreed it had to be a kidney stone.
So I think THAT was what caused me to have so much trouble in the hospital and not the surgery itself. Once I was over that recovery has been a breeze!
Congratulations on being on the other side now! It gets better every day!

I had my surgery a week ago aug 12th and everything that you posted I am feeling the same way . I don’t want to eat and every time I even drink water I get this pain under my breast bone . I’m so over broth and protein shakes. This pain under my breast bone comes and goes all day and I feel a sharp pain. At this point I’m thinking why did I do this to myself . Why couldn’t I just eat better . The pain afterwards is ridiculously painful and I just got over nausea because I had to go to the ER due to dehydration. My pain meds make my stomach pain and puts me to sleep. No one ever talks about the post op pain and I wish I would have known . I just want to chug a big glass of water right now !! ????

Hey guys! So my surgery date was 8/24 and now I am officially apart of this weight loss community. I had the Loop DS. Better known as SIPS. It was done at Lenox Hill in NY by Dr. Roslin himself. I am doing well so far I am still in the hospital as of 8/26. Don’t believe everything you hear about these surgeries everyone is different! I threw up blood and mucus the first two days after surgery and was told that it was expected and it happens after the surgery. Didn’t know that at all. The gas pains are the worst!!!! It felt like someone was trying to twist my back and sides. I still haven’t released any gas as of yet now I’m just dealing with soreness. I have the best hospital staff around to help me. And I am remaining diligent in walking. I try to do atleast 3-5 laps around the nurse station. But please people who are considering weight loss surgery just know that This isn’t a walk in the park !! You will be sore which is expected and taking down just 1oz. Of water is a job !! Be well.

DS is a fairly complicated surgery, so I'm not sure I'd want a rookie doing it.
you didn't mention RNY (gastric bypass), but that's another option. If you have trouble with GERD, that's the surgery that's usually recommended. RNY often improves - if not outright cures - GERD. The sleeve CAN make it worse. Not always - and not even in most patients -- but in a significant minority.
if you don't have issues with GERD, then it comes down to personal preference. They're both good surgeries, and I've seen many examples of success on here with both. And of course, people have failed at both, too. If you are a very committed patient, you can succeed with either one.

When I first started this journey back in March I was 355 and today I am down to 315 and steadily dropping which is awesome soon I will be at my goal weight and healthy and fit for myself and my son. I pray that my surgery goes well today.

Stop weighing yourself or you will end up in a rubber room with a special jacket the buckles in the back! You are getting healthy and it is not consistent weight lose, Your body is going to decide not the scale.
Follow the plan and focus on getting healthy - Not the numbers of pounds or Pounds per day -
