Having a Drink week 2? (muchies)

The first person that replied is absolutely right you should check with your doctor and follow his plan. Having said that I did have a couple drinks week two. I didn't notice any adverse side effects but maybe i'm one of the lucky ones. I wouldn't recommend anything fizzy or carbonated. I stuck to vodka water with a splash of lime. I'm sure there will be alot of flack on here for me saying this but you asked and I answered honestly. Your doctor will know what's right but I understand what your feeling.

    A few questions....

Hi all it's been a while since I've posted. I finally had my first fill 15 days ago!!! I had my surgery June 29th at TLBC in Toronto. I live in Saskatchewan so to go back to Toronto for my fills is not feasible. My GP has agreed to do for my fills for me even though she hasn't done too many. The best part is I don't pay for them. I'm not sure why, I don't have any insurance but I'm not going to question it:tt2: Anyways because of slowness on TLBC in getting my file to my doc and then some scheduling complications I had to wait a long time for my fill. 15 days ago I had 2cc's in a 10cc bad. It was fine I didn't notice alot of restriction but I did lose 2.2 lbs so I was happy about that. I just went back yesterday and had 2.5 more put in so i'm at 4.5 cc's total. Here's my questions... Even after my first fill I noticed that the first two bites of each meal we're difficult to get down. I realize I was eating quickly when I was hungry and had several bites in before I realized things weren't moving. So now I watch but still those first two bites are difficult. I chew well swallow and then wait several minutes for the stuck feelling to go away. I don't throw up or anything it's just super uncomfortable but once they get down then I'm fine for the rest of the meal. Anyone else experience this?? Also how often do you go for fills? My doctor has me going every two weeks right now. Thirdly once you find your sweet spot how long does that last for? My doctor seems to think that I always need to go every 2 weeks because the fluid absorbs. I don't agree with her but maybe I'm wrong. Thanks for reading my lengthy post, and any help you may have. Leslie
  4. I have no idea why your doc limited you to tylenol but I do know that asprin is hard on your stomach and can thin your blood. That could be the reason. I think you are totally fine with the excedrin. I was never restricted like that and excedrin is not asprin so I definitely wouldn't stress about it. As long as you crushed it you should be ok. If your really that worried you could talk to your doc but I'm thinking at this point there is nothing you can do about it and you shouldn't stress yourself.
  5. I don't know how true this is but when my hubby when to fill my pain prescription the pharmacist told him that stomach area pain eg:stomach, diaghram....comes out in the shoulder. Meaning that when these area's are in pain you feel them in your left shoulder. He also went on to say that other area's like your kidneys you feel the pain in your right shoulder. I don't know if there is any truth to that. Maybe someone will come along that can back it up or dispell it.
  6. Hi I was banded 1 week ago and my doctor told me that when they get in there to do the surgery if my opening in my diaghram is too large they stitch it to make it smaller. he said that is the main cause of reflux. He said if they ever find this they always repair it because that is the main source of complications with the band. If the stomach is able to move up into the esophagus they repair that so i think that you are alright. I know they repaired mine while they were in there. I'm not sure if the procedure is the same as what you had but it sounds to me like you should be ok with the band and it may be a good thing that you already have this done. I'm certainly no medical expert and probably have no clue what I'm talking about but i thought that I would share this with you and maybe you can make a little more sense out of it.
  7. Hi all I'm 6 days post op and doing really well. I do have a slight infection in one of my incisions but I am taking care of that. My question is about where my iv was. Today I have noticed that my wrist is sore where the iv was and above that I am developing some pretty good swelling. It's not red or hot to the touch and I am not running a fever. It is getting pretty sore and seems to be a little bruised. There is only a small dot where the iv was. Anybody else experience something like this or have any idea what might be going on. I am going to call the post op nurse tomorrow but thought I would check here in the mean time. Thanks for all your help.

    Banded Yesterday-OMG do I hurt

I was banded 6 days ago and let me tell you the first two days we're pure hell!! I didn't expect it to be that bad at all. By day three though I was feeling much better and today I feel pretty darn good! I played 9 holes of golf this afternoon!! Walking around alot really really helped me. The first two days it was very short walks...up and down the hallway a couple times. But the more I started walking the better I felt. I still have pretty bad gas pains and I feel pretty sore after I get full but compared to the first two days I feel a thousand times better. So trust me it will definitely get better. Hang in there!!

5 days post op.. and lots of pain

I had surgery on the 27th and am experiencing the same thing. You can feel it coming and it's like a burp trying to get out but it just kinda comes up and spreads. I feel mine in my chest and it usually radiates to my shoulder. I think it's very normal and I know it will get better. Hang in there!
  10. Hi all, I'm three days post op and getting better by the hour. I even made it to a baseball game today! Yay me!! My question is about coffee. I know I can have coffee on the clear fluids stage so does that mean I can have starbucks lol?? I don't mean anything crazy but I could go for a fat free vanilla latte! Anybody try this. Or even an iced coffee. I am getting tons of water in haven't broke any clear fluids rules yet so I thought I would double check with the "experts". Thanks for your help! Leslie

    Any Canadians Out There??

TLBC sends you home with an instruction sheet and dvd so your family doctors can do your fills for you. I have already spoken to mine and she is fine with this. How long are you having to wait until your first fill? I have had several major surgeries and recovered very quickly from them so I am hoping that this is no different. I am 28 so I am thinking age is on my side. I am not staying over night, they send all there patients home unless there is complications. I was instructed to spend one night in toronto at a nearby hotel. Thanks for all your help so far!

    Any Canadians Out There??

Sunflower, we sound so much alike! Having our surgeries on the same day with the same amount to lose! I look forward to hearing about your successes! The 18,000 also covers my life time fills. I am also on pretty much the same pre-op diet as you RPA. Fat free yogurt, fat free cottage cheese, spinach and a small piece of Protein. I only need to do it for a week and I start tomorrow. I think it's going to be really hard! WTG on the 20 lbs lost...that's awesome! It sounds like most lose around 20 lbs in their first month, I wonder if I can expect the same even if I don't have as much to lose? How was your pain after surgery?? I am not from ontario and have never been to toronto before and the hubby and I are planning on staying an additional three days after the surgery. Do you think it's crazy for me to expect to get out and take in some of the sights?

    Any Canadians Out There??

Hi, I am paying 18,000. So yes a bit more lol. How much have you lost so far? Do you have to pay for your fills?
  16. Now you've got me worried.....I am flying to have the surgery done and will be flying home after. Should I be concerned??

    Hey I'm June 9th too!!

    Scared & indecisive

I am 200lbs and have aroud 60 pounds to lose and i am having the surgery done. I know that I am quite a bit lighter than most who get the lapband but I am doing this more as a preventitive measure than anything. I have tried almost every diet out there and I will take off about twenty pounds only to gain it back plus an additional 10. I have no co-morbidities YET. I have been gaining at a rapid pace these last few months and I don't want to wait until I'm 250 lbs and need to lose 100 lbs. I don't want the co-morbidities, and I know if I don't do something now that I am definitely headed down that path. I am only 28 years old and I want to enjoy my life now when I'm young not 10 years from now when I have gained so much weight that it will take me years and years to get it off. I know the lapband is a lifestyle change and not an easy fix and I also realize it is a lot of work and i am ready for that now. Just my two cents.....
