  1. Hi, I am 8 days post-op and still experiencing that same kind of ribcage, under-the-left-breast pain you describe. When does it get better??? I am suppoed to go back to work Monday but I am nowhere near the activity level I need to be. Also, I have this RED RASH that has spread out from the upper left incision. It is bumpy and very itchy. Any ideas? I really need a mentor/buddy since I was banded in Mexico and don't have much support here in SC. Thanks for any encouragement! Christine
  2. I'm going to Mexico July 15th because my insurance excludes all bariatric surgery. My BMI is 37. Out-of-pocket here would be almost $20,000 after all hidden charges. In Mexico, it is $7,000 and that includes EVERYTHING except airfare to San Diego. I am going to Dr. Aceves and believe me I did a LOT of research before deciding on him. Maybe you should check it out. Lots of info online about Mexico. Christine
  3. I am self-pay also. The hospital I work at is a bariatric surgery "Center of Excellence" but the employee insurance plans specifically EXCLUDE bariatric surgery!!!! SO, I am going to Dr. Aceves in Mexicali, Mexico. He has a great reputation and has done hundreds of bands. The package is only $7,000 exclusive of airfare (about $600) but that is much less than the $20,000 out-of-pocket "employee discount" offered by my employer! Surgery date July 15th. All I had to fill out was 2 medical history forms and I was accepted. Can't wait!! Christine
  4. I'm a newbie, now with a scheduled surgery date on July 15 with Dr. Aceves in Mexicali. Anybody got any words of wisdom? Christine
