PrincessCharming reacted to RNY 2ND RODEO in Rny revisionYes. This time I am following up with dieticion and nutritionist plus my physycologist is on call at all times. She wants me to weigh everyday and if I start to backslide, call immediately to discuss where I went wrong. I also have at least 8 freinds who have had weightloss surgeries including my sister. I will be in close contact with them through this process. When I had mine done before I had nobody. Joining this group is also going to be a great source of knowledge.

Hello Everyone - I am one-week post-op today, and I am now only 2 pounds lighter than I was last week. That is ok with me, and I am so happy I had the "tune-up" surgery. I do need to wear an abdominal binder getting on and out of bed. I return to work this week and zero pain. I am hopeful and positive that the weight will continue to come off. During my Pre-Op Liquid diet, I shed 25 lbs, so I am feeling good about that. I have broken my weight goals into 35-pound goals. I am 27 pounds from target 1.

PrincessCharming reacted to 2ndTimeFreedom in July 2019Surgery is now 5 days away. I am down 20lbs with the Pre-Op Liquid diet. I finished all my hospital pre-surgical testing & paid my ($750 deductible & $250 copay yesterday ). Four more days of this liquid diet and one day of clear liquids and then off to surgery I go. It appears I will have a 1-night hospital stay and then I am gone. What a process this has been!!!! The only thing I am truly feeling sad about is not picking up my baby for 1 month That she will not understand (2 years old) but as long as I can have someone hand her to me I will be ok (I pray).
Sending everyone strength and prayers!!! I am getting myself mentally ready for the 4 weeks of eating post-surgery.

PrincessCharming reacted to 2ndTimeFreedom in Revision of RNYI am headed in for my revision surgery today. I am not sure the DS was offered to me. Instead, he is going to reduce my pouch and my stoma size. Ia m so looking forward to being in your boat with progressive weight loss after. It is great to hear you have zero complications after. How long was your revision surgery?

PrincessCharming reacted to LostFound21 in Revision of RNYWishing you a speedy recovery. I have an appointment with a surgeon closer to home August 21st. I have called to see if i can get in earlier but that was the earliest. I have to keep checking for cancellations. How long was the process to get to surgery from your first appointment?

PrincessCharming reacted to purplefussia85 in Revision of RNYHave you considered revising to a modified duodenal switch? I had a RNY revised to this procedure on June 21st with no complications. I have lost a over 15 pounds since surgery and am doing everything to make good choices because it's a lifelong commitment. I have suffered the battle of the bulge also for years and was thankful to meet a revision specialist. Good luck and i hope you find your peace whether it's surgical option or non.

PrincessCharming reacted to 2ndTimeFreedom in Lunch Meeting 1 week Post OpSo I went back to work one-week post-op. I had my first business lunch today and ordered Brazino and was able to eat 1/2 of the filet (3 ounces) and just asked for the rest to go. I was so stuffed and felt I was actively engaging in conversation, and I looked around me, and the others had cleared their entire plates or fish, spinach, and veggies.!!!! I was super proud of myself. I had green tea before the start of the meal and didn't drink the rest of the meeting. This was such a massive concern for me as I have so many eating situations. One meal at a time

PrincessCharming reacted to Notthe1sttime in Revision of RNYUpdate- I just had an endoscopy performed. We found out the pouch is quite large and there is a fistula connecting the pouch to the remnant stomach. This info is being presented to the insurance, and hopefully the revision is approved.
Prior to the procedure I decided to pursue the revision despite the predicted results. I felt like I owed myself the opportunity to try again. In the interim, I've been meeting with a nutritionist to improve my eating habits.
Im happy.

PrincessCharming reacted to Notthe1sttime in Revision of RNYThere weren't many options. The only surgical option presented was a possible procedure to decrease the size of the pouch, and that was if the pouch is enlarged. I was advised that this procedure would provide some moderate weight loss (40-50lbs).
The estimated weight loss didn't seem to justify the cost, the loss of wages, and the recovery. I'm sad. I feel unsure where to go from here. There was a suggestion to see a dietician and perhaps I should do that.
Thanks for listening.

PrincessCharming reacted to 2ndTimeFreedom in Revision of RNYHello Everyone-- This is my story!!!! I was 398 lbs and had gastric bypass RNY on 11/30/2009. I lost 200lbs. I had a baby in March 2017 and gained weight with the pregnancy and have been struggling to return to my pre-pregnancy weight of 213.
My surgeon will reduce my pouch (stretched 3 times it's the surgical size) and reduce my stoma (also stretched). My surgery is on July 15th. I am doing a 3-week liquid diet to get ready.

PrincessCharming reacted to LostFound21 in Revision of RNYI met with a surgeon last week about revision surgery. I had RNY over 20 years ago. I have gained almost all the weight back that I lost. The surgeon I met with suggest a laparoscopic plication to reduce the pouch size and also he will reduce the stoma. Then he will put lap-band over it but not use the lap-band and may never. He said the chances of me stretching the pouch again are high so the lap-band would be there and be ready for if and when i stop losing weight. Some surgeons here offer the revision with an endoscopic procedure to reduce the pouch size but have read that the weight loss is minimal and within a year ill be back gaining weight. The surgeon I met with last week explained he doesnt do the procedure that way anymore because of the low success rate. I haven't decided what I will do yet, still researching but if I go with the surgeon i met last week it will be all out of network so I want to make sure its the best choice of procedure since it will be costly.

I was six days out from a RNY revision surgery, a few weeks ago. I did so well preparing for the surgery that I decided to postpone it. The procedure I was going to have is one where the Roux arm is lengthened and the stoma reduced in size. The modification of the bypass has a 15% chance of complications. My surgeon was confident in his ability because he has only 1% complications with this procedure. If they are just working on your pouch and stoma I would not worry. That is low risk.
I am losing weight again, slowly. I have learned so, so much from this forum. I have been reading the books and watching videos that are helping me understand why I am hungry. It was 2000 when I had my bypass. There is so much more information and tools available now. I am relearning how to eat properly and how important vitamins are.
I will wait six months before I decide if I need the revision surgery.
My suggestion is, study up and copy what the new RNY patients are doing. I feel I am a born again bypass patient.
Best of luck!

I had a distal Roux en Y gastric bypass around 2002. I had lost about 140 pounds but have gained most of it back. Has anyone had their Roux en Y pouch reduced and stoma tightened? The doc has already approved me for surgery. I'm wondering if anyone has had this done. Thank you!! ?
