We make our own sauerkraut from our garden cabbage every year and I just love it. It is some salt but very low in calories. Has anyone ate sauerkraut and did you have trouble eating it with your band?

Hi all August banders. I was banded on August 4 by Dr Aceves in Mexico. When I had the surgery they also found a hiatal hernia (probably why I had such awful reflux) that they repaired. So today is post-op day #5 and I'm feeling really good. I'm drinking strawberry sorbet Unjury for protein and crystal light. Not feeling hungry yet but sick of liquids already. I'm going back to work on Monday and hope things continue to go well. Good luck to all who have an upcoming surgery this month!!

I was just banded on August 4th!!! :thumbup: My doctor told me 2 oz every 15 minutes and to sip, not gulp. Takes all day to get in 64 ounces of fluid. This is only suppose to be for the first 10 days and then I can sip but not restricted to just 2 oz every 15 minutes. Hope that helps.

Has anyone specifically taken off medical expenses for the lap band if it was done in Mexico? I couldn't find anything on the IRS website.

Hi all. Getting banded on 8-4-08 with Dr Aceves in Mexico. Has anyone who is self-pay and had surgery done in Mexico taking the cost as a medical tax decuction? Can this be done? I would be interested in hearing form anyone with any experience with this sort of thing. TIA

Hi I too started looking into lap band surgery 18 months ago and am self pay. I decided after countless hours of research, calling doctors, asking about complication rate etc to go to Mexico. I am going to have surgery in August. I personally know 2 people that have had surgery with Dr Aceves in Mexicali. Look around on the forum under doctors. There is a wealth of information there as well as what you should be asking before you pick a doctor. Good luck on you journey.

The site that skinnyplease for Dr Jose Rodiguez (joseband.com) does not list him as doing surgery in Juarez, only Acuna. Beliteweight also does not have him listed as a provider anymore. What do think is up?
